Homosexuality In The Game/Time Period

Careful. Wouldn’t want to ask people to be to consistent in their logic here.

Personally, that is a fair question that I think people will somehow deny their biases with. The reality is, if Drake was in a relationship with a male reporter instead, nothing about it would actually be propaganda just because of that detail.

Madaras: Throws a stone in the pond

I scrolled down to the bottom of this thread and I see this. Oohhh boy this thread. This thread…

This is a very ‘hmmm’ thread. Because:

 1. Slavic people are quite homophobic. Even today.
 2. Christianity is against homosexuality. Even today.
 3. This period is quite under very strong influence of religion.

So in one sentence:
The homophobic slavic people, which were very very pious and religious at this time, would have killed any homosexual, because it is a very evil sin and therefore against their religion and understanding of their manhood.

Bohemia is not italy or some islamic country. If there would have been some homosexuals, then in this times they would pray their desire on the cold church stone floor away. And the one that would not have done it, they would have been very very careful. This means that they would have a very hidden language, with very long rituals to ensure that the partner they desire is also a real gay, else this could end very bad for them.

Well you said three things I thought were interesting.

You know Islamic countries make it a habit of killing homosexuals (as well as others, but homosexuals specifically)

The second thing you said I thought might be beneficial if your statements on the location in ancient times and how they treat homosexuals are true.
If there would have been some homosexuals, then in this times they would pray their desire on the cold church stone floor away.
First that would be interesting to see. Rumors around the town or simply the player taking notice at how “Pious Peter” is always praying at the church and how he’s never “known” a women. People might think it’s because he’s deeply religious (and he may be), but unaware of his internal pain. You know that might explain all those gay catholic priest. When you think about it they’re practically begging for all religious homosexuals to become priest.

Also this last part

This part I was specifically wondering about. I was very curious if any anthropologist might have studied this or have information in that regards… it would be very interesting to see.

All in all good post.

Thank you for the act of acknowledging my post, but there is one little but.
And that is towards my statement of the islamic country. In modern times naturally gay people have very bad problems in these countries. But in the past in this countries life was much different, than it is nowadays.
You can ask the brother of Vlad ‘Țepeș’ Drăculea and you will know why Vlad hated the Ottoman Turc so much, that he would have killed all of his subordinates, just to stop the Ottomans.

Yes that might be true. A lot does change during the flow of time.

Yes and that is through the decline of this countries into the poverty. The worst the things become, the more people believe in superstitions. Or that a deity may save them. Which in turns leads also to a downward spiral.

Better to avoid any assumption if we haven’t solid evidence about a phenomenon. The risk is to fall in easy prejudice, especially when dealing with the Church.
There are historian out there, let them do their work, otherwise let’s concentrate on other subjects.

Er, a big no to number 1? Warhorse is in one of the least homophobic EU countries. They are considered liberal on LGBT rights and have wider legislation favoring same-sex couples than the vast majority of the world, including the US.

Just because homosexuals weren’t inherently open about their sexuality in the same way as heterosexuals, does not make it sound reasonable to suggest they can’t be depicted in numerous imaginable encounters for that reason. It is well-documented that numerous societies had varying degrees of secret or un-discussed homosexual figures and interactions. From secret nobility, to more common people carrying on privately with companions. Heck, even the ‘discovered’ homosexuals who faced negative consequences could lend interesting and mature world expansion for this game. There’s just a ton of ways you could meet, hear of, read about, or be gays in the given setting.

So what’s the big deal if Warhorse depicts those authentic social facets and dynamics in any degree in this game?

if they have good evidence and research to depict them accurately, and have done all they can about more interesting and exciting things about medieval time than how gays picked up men, maybe. until that’s the case, i hope they don’t spent even a few minutes less on armor or horses for example, just to include a gay guy.

If you want to see (historically inaccurate) open display of homoerotic passion in this game, I recommend that you try to come up with your own mod. For example, you may modify skin or entirely swap the character of miller’s daughter (who rescued our Henry) - for a blond muscular lad in lederhosen - the miller’s son. He even speaks in angelic voice so the original voice acting could stay without change. Please name this mod “Deliverance - The Coming Out.” You little Devil.

Funny post considering no one here has said they wanted to “see (historically inaccurate) open display of homoerotic passion in this game.” But your imagination does provide plenty of entertainment to go around.

You just gave me an amazing Idea O_O! I’ll make a mod with fire breathing dragons! If you get hit by their flames then you’ll become gay O_O! Though as Cannon stated no one is asking for this sort of historically inaccurate homosexuality to be added in the vanilla game.

As the Catholic Church would say… sodomy is a sin.

So is necromancy. I really hoped this thread would die an you resurrected it…

I can’t say I’ve read every post, but I have read the first fifty or sixty. Undeniably such a controversial topic would come under fire by those who are more conservative or (as is the case with the internet) trolly. I believe the realistic depiction of homosexuality among specifically the aristocracy (where it was most prevalent) would add a layer of political intrigue to the story, certainly, but it also VERY difficult to go about in a mature and respectful manner that does not offend others. I do hope the moderators are keeping a close eye on this thread, as I’ve see some very bigoted posts above which I have flagged for their review. Keep it civil, gents!
