Homosexuality In The Game/Time Period

Design inherently implies existence of a designer. I didn’t imply it is wrong. I only suggested that using “not religious” and “designed” in the same argument contradicts itself.

Like mother nature, or universe itself? Labeling phenomenons is normal. But word plays aside.
At first glance it appears like desing when all mammals do it like that. I believe this is reason he used this word.

[irony]Yea sure religion. Because humans always accept without any problems behavior and appearance that differs from majority (the less educated the better).[/irony] I hate to break it down for you but religion is man made.

Just in case the news hasn’t reached this thread:

‘‘No. We had a strong playable female character before all this started. We have gay characters in the game, and we have different minorities in the game, because all I want is to have a mature, strong story. A story that I wanted to tell for years, and I am not going to change it because of outside pressure.’’

I think it comes down to where and during what time of the midle ages you would talk about, certainly there was homosexuality, but in some regions it was considered heresy and the sentence was death. In some countries you could sign a certificate that pretty much was the same as marrying. In the viking society, whoever got the shaft so to speak would be considered a woman in the eyes of society. So there is not really any easy one answer to this question.

Yeah, it sounds like you’re also terrible at the ancient Roman time period.

This game is made by a European Developer so please leave any US prudishness and other nonsensical US things in the US please

Don’t know what ya mean. I believe it’s mostly people in the U.S who want Warhorse to do their own thing. Agreement or disagreement on this topic aside. Then again it’s mostly people in the U.S. commenting too, so to be more plain don’t be dissing the U.S. with baseless accusation. I believe in a person who doesn’t like gay people should have the right to dislike. As much as I believe in the right for a gay man to stand up for his beliefs. It’s all about freedom.

didnt expect anything different you actually made my point for me with your post

If my post makes your point than your original post is (at least in english) nonsensical. But I’m glad we agree.

typical arrogance because English is the mothertongue of every country eh (for all braindead people this is called sarcasm)

(The sarcastic content of a statement will be dependent upon the context in which it appears)

What, english is the mothertongue of every country? What do you live under a rock. Alright, I can see speaking with you isn’t going to be worth another click of the keyboard.

totally you just disqualified yourself with that statement

They already said they were putting gays in the game for some reason. This topic is still going why?

Also there is absolutely no evidence that there is a gay gene. In fact it has been proven there isn’t

someone bump to post appropriate picture

I have no problem with this at all…

Of course I believe it existed then, it’s not a culturally dependent thing. If you’ll allow a straight dude to make an analogy… some people are right handed, some people are left handed. Shrug. It’s just never been anything that would bother me. (btw, there is no gene for right or left handedness either, but it IS still a natural variation in the species)

Now, that said…

This game is meant to be realistic. Homosexuality in Bohemia, in 1403… is a DEADLY game. Get caught? Oh man… you are worried about gay bashing here? There it would be literally bashing. As in bashing them to death with clubs… the priest, gay or not, whipping the mob into a frenzy to do it.

I am not saying that is how it should be, I am glad we have progressed at least a bit since then, they were called the ‘dark ages’ for a reason after all…

But I DO oppose any sort of historical revisionism. So what I don’t want is that a culture heavily dominated by a religion that decided being gay was a ‘sin’ to suddenly become OK with it and homosexuality right in the open and everyone OK with it. Not on any moral grounds… just my interest in keeping this historically accurate… just like the issues people have with orange carrots, potatoes and tomatoes showing up… it’s just not historically accurate.

I hope you understand my take… I have a SERIOUSLY allergy to discrimination and bigotry in all forms… in the real world, if someone gets in your face for your orientation, I am going to be one of the first to stand up and get your back buddy. It’s just not something I could stand by and watch happen…

But in the game… if you get caught… I think you should be in serious trouble.

That was just the reality of the time.

As for how they hooked up? My guess is VERY carefully… a slow, careful song and dance of both parties feeling each other out, each wondering if the other might be gay, both terrified to be to forward because it could literally mean their life. It’s not like you can place a personal ad or use a dating site… and yeah, the consequences would be SEVERE in Medieval Europe should they get caught.

Again, not the way it should be… just the way it actually was.

But for the interest of inclusion, and let’s be honest, reality… I do think there should be some homosexual romance options… I just think it should reflect the reality of the setting and period is all.

Honestly, it makes very little marketing sense adding gay characters/themes.

There is a whole lot of attention focused on homosexuality these days, even to the point of reverse intolerance, especially when considering that the adult gay-to-straight ratio is so extreme. Look at the US for example: According to the Williams Institute review conducted in April 2011, approximately 3.8 % of American adults identify themselves being in the LGBT community; wherein, (1.7%) identify as lesbian or gay, (1.8%) bisexual, and (0.3%) transgender,

1.7% (lesbian and gay combined!!) of the adult population.

Quit making it such a big issue. In the game’s time period, homosexuality was considered reprehensible and often punishable by death. Secretive.
