As a gay man I can honestly say leave it out. Only put stuff in that the developers feel passionate about and are within the original vision. If they want to devote time to relationships of ANY kind, be respectful and honest but otherwise just stick to the vision of the game.

That’s what I’m say should be accepted the non-overtly “normal” gay man. Unfortunately the normal gay man is treated like the extreme gay man in that video.
I agree, it’s definitely the male population that is more reserved when the topic of homosexuality is brought up, except when it comes to Lesbianism, which then it is all of a sudden acceptable to the average sex driven male it seems. However, many people I know and consider friends, even new friends, are rather accepting of my sexuality. It could just be the fact that I live in North-West Washington, but most of my coworkers do not, as I work for an online LLC where my coworkers come from almost anywhere in the world.

Would actually be cool to have a character (similar to like Varys frm Game of Thrones) where Its not actually told that he’s gay, but somehow you just know… they way he talks and acts extravagant robes and jewelry and some hunky topless body guards… you know…typical gay things LOL
He could even be a quest giver: very sneaky and conniving… always plotting new schemes and knowing everyone business.

Back in the ancient times, ancient Greece, old Roman times, homosexuality wasn’t frowned upon as it was after Christianity took foothold in the Roman empire and they stopped hunting down and butchering Christians. After Christianity got a foothold, or some time after, the intolerance started, but I’m not sure exactly when it started.
I think this homosexuality thing could be great for the game, e.g making moral choices with homosexual characters, you can do what is right and let them have free sexual orientation and earn good reputation or you can make sure they are prosecuted and maybe get a reward.
There is really no problem with this as I see it.
I do not think having sex or “pleasures” is included in the game, so there is really no point in what orientation you decide that your character has, but if there is you shouldn’t just be able to choose one gender to fraternize with, you should be able to do them both.
Well actually they commented in the nudity thread that there will likely be sex in the game. Aside from that standing up for their freedom may not get you “good” reputation. They stated they aren’t doing a karma thing. So helping them might be “bad” reputation. This I would find very interesting. Because then you would have to choose to do what you feel is right, but society sees as wrong, or what you feel is wrong, but society believes is right. Of course different people will see those different ways. Gotta love the diversity of the world.
Yep they should include gay couple and do it acurately. I have an idea. There will be gay couple. But nobody (including player) will find that out, because they are hiding it due to fear of horrible punishment. Problem solved.
Maybe just good reputation in the homosexual societies, communities or circles? Because only they know about that you helped them.
No gays, no gay sex. You’d be prosecuted and executed in the time of the game.
That is actually an horrible idea. I couldn’t imagine anybody in that time of period helping gays. It was almost worst crime than murder so as punish for that deadly sin. I know we can play own character, make own decisions, but still there should be limits and this just make no sense, sorry.
Maybe you also read that you can go against the concept of freedom and rights and actually turn them in for your own good. Good that we’re not from that time period, so that we’re not making horrible choices like they did.
Homosexuality was probably most common among monks living in isolated monasteries, and even they had to be very careful. “Coming out of the closet” was extremely dangerous during that period of time, so it’s actually irrelevant if there are homosexuals or not in the game: You simply will not be able to spot them, since they are used to hiding their sexuality.
But here we go again on thin ice … lawsuites about “they are persecuting gays!”. It’s out of question, there will be no gays.
Adding a playable female character & dog quests has already stretched the “historically-accurate” part. Why stop now? What’s the harm in adding more choices instead of limiting them?
