HORSES! how will that be?

HORSEEEES!! please say to me that they are not doing tath kind of ponys that we saw on skyrim! -_-! we want strong war horses, see all their strenght, power and realism like on Red dead redemption ( this was the only game that i saw investing in steeds for real!

They did say that, but i think he meant design but i hope he also meant more!

How were horses in red dead redemption ? I didnt have the pleasure to play that game.

we could even saw the muscles on them moving, a prety work actualy, if Warhorse could do a similiar job, would be great :wink:

Having become pretty familiar with the Game of Thrones world, I’m definitely interested in seeing how they work out the different horse types mentioned on the Kickstarter page. I could see things like weight carry limits for different types, stamina being effected, things like that. I like the idea of more attention to detail when it comes to the horses and, perhaps, costs to purchase and so on.

I think that you will be seeing strong draft and quarter type horses. Animals trained and bred for carrying a heavily armored man into and out of a battle. :smile:

Mount & Blade had this same system where the lighter horses could move a lot quicker (speed and agility) but had lower health etc. The trade off makes a big difference and would suit the RPG style of the game. If you want to play as a ranger type, you don’t need a muscle beast

the way rockstar’s engine works is they have animated textures and sub textures that fade between one another, so you can see muscles move when the body part animate. it’s the same method they use make clothes wrinkles and folds move.

while it’s a good look, it’s not required if the weighing and shaders are good enough already, but i do wonder if cryengine is capable of this. most likely rockstar’s engine is designed around consoles games that don’t allow much freedom to change file structure, so maybe not.

Probably the best looking horses in gaming, also they had the best handling. They felt weighty and grounded unlike most games where they seem floaty and clunky at the same time, like in Skyrim.

That is probably mostly thanks to the animations. In most games the horses stride doesn’t match their speed.

What about making horses something more than just a car for the player, a disposable tool on which you jump on and off? Someone told me that during a charge, the knight’s lance would be placed on top of the horse’s head, a claim that shows no understanding at all of what a horse is.

Horses are looking to be pretty awesome, but there is one thing that I’m wondering about: Will there be lances? I think it would really suit this kind of game, especially if they go the same way around it as was done in War of the Rose.

I appreciate the video update that they contributed to horses.

I’m really interested in the horses stamina and endurance. They shouldnt be able to just run all day. I think it would be neat if you have to walk your horse after riding for a while, like in real life.
