I am crashing every 5 minutes

i will try everything and give a feedback pls wait thanks for the help

If I try that i took a bit longer (approx. 15 minutes after crashing on low graphics settings

thanks for you good tips but it dosent solve the problem. I try everything right now, just to play the game as a long-term backer and medieval fan. :frowning:

Information:

I have 70 GB left space in my harddrive
settings running now under medium / low

your second picture at bottom shows an update available, plus the graphice card is being over loaded, you will notice that the top 2 are almost full like a recording of a song to loud. sli is dissabled?, try increasing those which give the card more ballance, think of it this way, a car engine tunned to over drive but starved of fuel. increase fuel car runs better, to me it looks like graphics card is set to max and starved of resources, try to balance it, most problems are as follows, conflicting hardware, over clocking, under resourcess meaning to little to cope with demand, to mutch graphics or sound better then power supply or other hardware installed and other hardware struggle to keep up or power supply insufitiant to cope with demand ie graphic, sound, motherbord, memory, harddrive, internal, lights for show and fans could need combined 745 watts and your using 650 watts, all these things can affect your gaming experience, look at everything power and hardware requirements,

as for having 70gig free space that is not what might be reserved for file swapping. i will do some pics later showing how to increase file swapping so it might help, many dont know how to increase. if its a new pc like 1 or 2 years old many dont realise the default by microsoft is like 300 to 600 mb, mine on xp is set to 4,460, and runs anything even pushed to max, before any says why not use windows 10 i have windows 95,98sec edition,me,xp,server,7,10, but i enjoy windows xp more,

Hi, i have the same troubles. I have AMD Radeon RX 470. The GPU is not overloaded. I have the latest BIOS, the latest all drivers, the recently installed fully updated OS WIN 10 PRO, enough space on both disks, enough RAM. Everything OK! Other games, of course, work normally. I have a new PC (Ryzen 1900X, Gigabyte AX 370 Gaming 5). No old HW. Any advice? :frowning:

Hey, I’ve the same problems. DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG crashing the game every 10-30 minutes. I also cant downclock my GPU (voltage, frequency, etc.) coz manufacturers has disabled this possibility in my model (R7 260X). Full PC specs: AMD FX-6300, AMD R7 260X, 16GB RAM DDR3, motherboard Gigabyte 970A-UD3P. 60 fps on Low/Medium settings.

Pacific, I have a better power adapter, dont know how to reduce gpu storage. This “update” means only a update for GPU Z not for the gpu driver…
I can play the witcher 3 on ultra settings without any crashes for days and different games too, there is no problem with the gpu… this graphic card is still fine and normally I can play on high resolution… I am still conviced that the game have still some problems with graphics. But hopefully there’s a patch comming (i heared something about a 12 GB Patch?)

Did u tried to downclock ur GPU? I’ve heard it was helpful to many people. About more RAM patch, I guess -heapsize 2097152 in KCD executable prob can help (additional run settings in steam).

Solution: every 10 - 20 minutes you have to switch out of the game (task manager -> switch back to the game) so the GPU can rest for some seconds, even try to DOWNclock you gpu a bit. Then its works for me now playing since 3 hours without crash… but its not a standard… it has to be fixed. Hopefully i can play later in high graph settings (works for other games). best regards

I can approve that underclocking ur GPU is the best (prob the only one) solution. My GPU frequency was on 1188, underclocked it to 1050. Result - today I’ve played more then 6 hours in a row. Best regards ^^

Had CTD yesterday just got DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG after beating that guy in yellow after combat training  Will try the Physx set to GPU thing.
Andi.

I have the same issue too with Powercolor Radeon R9 390X DEVIL
8GB GDDR5. I can confirm that underclocking GPU is only one solution for now. You should use wattman in game profile in AMD Radeon Setting Application. Let me know if you need more detailed guide for this.

Game breaking problem with an easy fix.

If you’re on nvidia turn on Debug Mode, this will set the factory default clocks on your graphic card. The problem is not the game, it’s the engine, it doesn’t like third-party OC programs like MSI Afterburner.

You can turn on Debug mode on Nvidia cards by opening Nvidia control panel, go to -> help -> Debug Mode.

You dont have to underclock your GPU. Just turn on Debug mode.

Thank me later :champagne:

Oh man hope this helps!
I’m currently stuck, my PC freezes during a certain cutscene.

Have the same issue and this fucked up my entire sunday :-
Last Thing I did yesterday: ordering an new SSD and even more RAM

This is the moste expensive game after the witcher3 (bought the 970 GTX for that) …

I have The Same problem here
DXGI error device hung After 5 Minuten in Game
Sometimes in the intro

• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 | 8 GB GDDR5X
• Intel Core i7-7700K | 4,2 - 4,5 GHz | 4 Kerne / 8 Threads | 8 MB Cache | 95 Watt | geköpft
• 32 GB (4x8) DDR4 RAM Crucial Ballistix Sport LT | 2400 MHz
• 512 GB M.2 Samsung 960 Pro | PCIe 3.0 x4 | NVMe
• 2000 GB Seagate Barracuda | 5400U/Min | 7mm

My gpu is Not overclock and debug Mode dont work for me
Sorry for my bad english …

i recently found out that windows 10 has a serious problem with this game, where the graphics card is having problem’s with the frame rate, there may be others who dont suffer as much, and for those players there no need to waste your time giving a pointless opinion if your not affected by the graphic’s card, you waste affected player’s time,

seems certain types of nvidia cant handle to frame rate’ there are a few way’s to test the graphic’s card, which i will help on shortly, but first, try increasing file swapping as follows on your harddrive,

heres the step’s,
Increase Page File size
In case you get such an error message, you may have to increase the size of your virtual memory or page file or paging file – although for most uses,
leaving the Page File size at its default value should be good enough.

To do so in Windows 10/8/7, follow these steps:

Right click on Computer and open Properties.
Select Advanced System Properties
Click Advanced tab
Under Performance, click Settings
Under Performance Options, click Advanced tab
Here under Virtual memory pane, select Change
Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives
Highlight your system drive
Select Custom size
Change the Initial size value and the Maximum size value to a higher value
Click Set
Finally Click Apply/OK all the way.

Page File location
The page file or swap file is also known as Virtual memory,
and is situated on your system drive; eg C:\pagefile.sys.
In addition to physical memory or RAM,
Windows and its applications use it as and when required.

for best results increase to to 4,560mb

now to test your graphics card to make sure it has the latest driver and not an out of date one, you would be surpriced, follow this link to microsoft graphics card driver test,
