Every game can be GOTY. That’s nothing you have to win like an Oscar and that doesn’t mean anything. Even bad games can be GOTY. But yes, in this case it’s my GOTY too. Haven’t played “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” and some interesting indie horror, but “Asylum” and “Lorelai” are coming 2019.

It’s definitely my favorite game of the year so far, but there is no way it will win GOTY on any site that awards that unfortunately.
Red Dead Redemption 2 has yet to come out and that would be my guess.
My sencond favorite game of the year so far, oddly enough, is an early access game on steam… The Hunt Showdown. That game is amazing. It also uses the CryTek Engine.
Rockstar have never made a game as deep as KCD. Its wrong of you to think they get GOTY when we havent seen it played yet. Or do you mean they have the $$$ so they can just pay the review sites for their 9 and 10’s out of 10?

I rly love that game but c’mon…Many Rockstar Games offer a much bigger World (with MUCH more details) and/or more & better Quests and Characters (even for a “non-RPG-Game”)…For me no character out of KCD is memorable (ok, ok, Hans is indeed a funny dude)
…but that’s just my 2 cent

That’s debatable, but I didn’t say it was MY opinion that RDR2 should win game of the year. I said this game won’t because it doesn’t have the hype or extremely high fanbase a game like that will have.
That said, Rockstar has made some extremely impressive, deep games and they are usually extremely well optimized with very few bugs.

Rockstar is a bad developer. Are you really writing they had made deep story games? You are funny! They make action/multiplayer games with big weapons and superheroes that look like american gangsters.
You should start playing games with a deep story and decent gameplay/-design. Play everything from Frictional Games/thechineseroom first to be able to talk about deep stories.

KCD is not mainstream enough for journalists to call it GOTY but for it’s right audience and for me, it’s certainly one of a kind.

If you would of said Irrational Games or CDProjectRed then maybe you would of had a legit argument.
Didn’t Frictional Games create Amnesia and Soma? Those are basically walking simulators. Same goes for thechineseroom… Dear Esther, Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture, and A Machine for Pigs are all, once again, basically walking simulators.
I’m not saying those games are bad, but Rockstar creates games that are on a different level than those games.

CD-Projekt Red made the boring Witcher 3 where the story is so lame to bore me more than 400 hours.
Yes, Frictional Games made Amnesia and SOMA that are indicators to show how storytelling is done right. And there is no game with a deeper story than SOMA and Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs!!! Walking simulators? Dear Esther yes, but you definitely never played Amnesia or SOMA.

The Witcher 3 was boring? Ok, I realize who I’m talking to now. The Witcher 3 scored a 9.3 out of 12,683 user reviews on metacritic… So i’m going to take your opinions on video games with a grain of salt, sorry.

You also mention Rockstar games’s have bad gameplay mechancs when literally all you do in Soma, Amnesia, etc. is walk around flipping switches and collecting documents… wow that’s exiciting gameplay there. There are literally 100’s of indie games just like soma and amnesia on steam right now.
Now The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, that’s a better game than all of the one’s you mentioned.
