KCD must be GOTY

First part. The game is what it is irrespective of how many employees work on it. So, CDPR, piranha, rockstar, WH… who cares outside of evaluating studio performance or relative effort.

Tracking system. Pretty much think they’re ALL flawed. Seen Gothic. Not impressed and don’t give a rat’s arse about fidelity of thick translation from German to English of tracking system. TW3 tracking was serviceable and if you didn’t like the blur so be it. Others did. That’s a personal preference. And more importantly, it didn’t ruin TW3.

A well designed world could tell its story in silence”. This is quaint like ‘it isn’t over till it’s over’ but it’s a hackneyed view of life. To truly understand a story (as in thick translation) driving a complex, open world RPG one needs to understand context. To get that you have to invest heavily in (participant) observation (with attendant opportunity costs and sheer boredom that it engenders for players) or have a decode (explanation thru reading or talking). Long story short… some explanation is required for a game narrative with any depth.

And HOW the tracking system ruins Witcher 3! And please stop arguing about personal references and what other people like. THIS IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT WHO LIKES WHAT. Everyone know that everyone has its own preferences, but we are not talking about them. We are talking about FACTS. Look, someone likes a game and someone hates it. But when you call a game GOTY or even a masterpiece, it’s completely irrelevant what people think. Opinions doesn’t affect or change facts. A masterpiece is a masterpiece, because it’s very well made and not because it’s the opinion of someone.

Opinions and facts are different things, but opinions can be facts, if they are correct.

And the english synchronization of Gothic was not supported by the developer or publisher. But it doesn’t matter. There are no voice actors that could speak as professional like the original speakers. They are the absolutely best of the whole world.

That’s rank hypocrisy coming from you. There’s no objective criteria in your first monster paragraph; or, at least there’s no distinction with a difference between let’s say TW3 and KCD with regard to their respective tracking systems, tutorial systems and controls.

The fact is that both W3 and WH have a functioning and yet flawed tracking system. Schiesse, why put a quest in the KCD tracking system that can never be fulfilled in the game. The game is replete with Bohemian red herrings posing as point of interest map markers.

The tutorial system is so effective that in combat you get it in 2 batches if not 3. Once in Skalitz, once in Rattay, and possibly once again (depending on one’s POV) in Pribyslavitz. None are particularly effective. Hence the plethora of combat related forum threads here since release.

The controls make the notion of a warhorse in KCD an inside joke. Daniel pulled the plug on implementation of warhorses, and the implementation of 1 person equine combat controls suffers from not being serviceable/modifiable per WH’s helpdesk itself. The controls for lockpicking were so off that WH had to rush an urgent patch for it. Only someone with an asinine POV would assert what end user (dis)like is irrelevant in determining quality and fitness for use. Thank goodness Daniel isn’t as obtuse as some, and accordingly he recognized that end user (dis)likes matter and changed the game… even for what some might call a niche product

Moreover, as critical as the aforementioned may sound with respect to KCD, it didn’t and doesn’t make KCD a poor game any more than the same allegedly make TW3 a poor game

Fuck ya’ll haters . . . i agree this guy . . .

Much of it resonates. There’s a glaring omission though in the good category… weapon technique (combat). KCD delivers arguably the best in class skill development especially in regards to archery. DOS2 and other RPGs have weapon prerequisites, but KCD is just plain different. Firing the next best bow in DOS2 requires no end user learning… just smash the button. The Cuman 74 bow behaves a differently than the villager dogwood bow, etc. How you draw, target and fire (especially on horseback) have to be adjusted. To me, that is sublime. Wish axes, maces, and swords had more of that.

Okay das wird mir hier jetzt zu dumm. Tschüss.

You guys need to stop posting off topic. This thread isnt about Witcher 3.

Kingdom come deliverance should be my goty, hands down. Should be.

I love RDR2 pros- polished launch, beautiful game, fun doing mindless mayhem.
But as rockstar does… cons- everything is a lot of times too ridged on the tracks, this is a big one. Wanna chase that guy down, don’t matter how fast you are, you only catch him, when the game says so. I guess this is the price you pay to make it all appear seamless. Some good writing and characters. Great voice acting.

Kingdom come pros- , again a beautiful game, was not so much on console, a complex issue. Lots of ways to complete missions, a big deal. Can get lost in the world. Some fun missions. Combat I personally love it, it is not quite perfect but a I’d say way more interesting than any other in the rpg genre.

Cons- terrible launch cannot be denied. Visual bugs still present and not to be addressed -hats appearing, layering issues. No other people on horseback, horse controls while in combat are the worst. Many stories that are dull ,go nowhere, anti climactic, or unforgivable wasted opportunities.

Voice acting from some of the actual characters is terrible, sir Divish was just wrong. Some of the regular people in game are better done. Henry’s dad was great.

Kingdom come is reaching out and almost touching greatness. If they can pull out all the stops for part 2. It’ll be a cult classic.

I only compared the two games because they are my most recent.

Please elaborate. Are you talking about RR missions? Outside of missions, I’ve been able to capture trains without too much fuss.

The one common element between RDR2 and KCD is hunting. Turn off auto aim, and RDR2 is better by a whole lot in stalking and the feel of the hunt. However, in using simulated skill to shoot appropriately, KCD is better by miles.

This will be lost of many but oh well… KCD is a bit like Korean celadon (greenware). A bit unrefined relative to other fine ceramics but it’s nevertheless a splendid effort. A very distinctive and worthy addition for any discerning collector

rockstar games look like cartoons compared to kcd. kcd took the formula rockstar created and improved it 100x.

this game is currently top selling on steam a year after its release for a reason

Spoliers.

Yeah I’d be the same with Rdr2. Spent all my time roaming about off the beaten track. hunting, getting up to no good. I’m 58 percent complete should be long cleared the game.

Admittedly every game has a breaking point. Your example is one of these. I’m pretty sure if you kill a shop keeper in rdr2 the same one appears alive and well.

I hate the RDR2 MQ mission funneling but have to (begrudgingly) admit rockstar created a good narrative structure.

Beyond that, what I enjoy about both RDR2 and KCD is roaming free, killing bad guys, looting good stuff whenever possible and hunting critters when it tickles my fancy

KCD allows more flexibility in how missions are completed, but to me it doesn’t demonstrably lead to a different NPC world. That leads to some gaping holes (killing everybody except Vanyek inside Vranik doesn’t lead to a different number of merc NPCs in Payback; monks that respond inappropriately upon your return post-A Needle in a Haystack, etc)

Back at ya

To be equivalent, has to be connected to MQ… kill the fence at Emerald Ranch before The Spines of America. Something to test  hope I have save file for that

Shady Belle could be like that. The raiders respawn until you kill them off with Lenny; then, they don’t (until epilogue)

I think he has a really good KCD channel
