It makes sense from a marketing standpoint. If the console producers pay up for this - fine.
As long as they don’t limit it technically for PC due to console issues I can wait a few weeks or months.

Oh, the release date is pushed back.
Phew!
When I first read the title I thought that it would be held back technically.
(see Ubisoft PC to console parity practices; most recent example is The Division with its downgrade and parity controversy)
Because that would be really really bad.
It would be the worst nightmare(!) so to speak.
But regarding the delay,
as long as the PC version gets polished even further in the process, it’s ok, I guess.
I can definitely live with that.
What?
What?
Makes no sense.
As far as I understand it, we the PC users have to wait additional time.
The console guys would have gotten it later either way.
I think it’s more positive for them now because they get it at the same time as the PC players.
While many multiplatform titles are released later on PC (see GTA V).
So console gamers have absolutely no reason to complain.
Nothing has changed for them.
They had to wait anyway.
Btw @warhorse did you fix the log in?
Because earlier today I tried multiple times to log in with Firefox and Internet Explorer and it didn’t work.
Just right before this comment I was somehow able to log in via relpy or register or some other extra hoop.
The regular log in at the top of the page didn’t do anything.
Sometimes when clicking the log in button the background would flash and that’s it.
Well said. Very good point.
wanted NOT to milk the marked (makes more sense)
Uaarr… worst typo ever!
@Blacksmith is right here. I have missed the “not” which changed the sence of the sentence completely.
Yes, we are updating our website today, maybe this issue is caused by the upcoming update? It will be made on the fly and we don´t want to go offline for it.
I understand it, but I don’t like it.
I don’t think that the PC version will benefit from simultaneous release.
I don’t mind delaying the relese. The game needs polishing and summer relase date doesn’t seems very realistic to me.
If they just delay it, the whole team will by concentrated on polishing PC version and it will be ready sooner.
What I fear the most, is that there might be complications with console ports (and probably will be) and release date wil be delayed and delayed and delayed…

available. So, I believe in my arguments’’
You believe your arguments? Your argument appears to be that you would buy Red Dead Redemption if it came out now for PC, therefore you think everybody else would- but they wouldn’t, so your argument is flawed. I would have considered buying RDR too a few years ago if it was on sale, but not now. It is too old and I had my fill of it on my brother’s Xbox.
Tsunamik’s logic is sound, people in general won’t buy it for a second platform or if they have even played or watched a lot of it on the first platform; this is reflected in sales for most games, and that’s why the publishers aim for synchronised releases, because they believe it benefits their sales. This is probably even more significant for a linear, story based RPG like KCD than other games, because there will be extensive playthroughs on Youtube long before it is available for XBox, and many people will have vicariously enjoyed part of the game before it is available for their console.
Looks like the PC version of KC:D has been officially delayed to coincide with a console launch. What do you guys think? I am personally okay with the decision, because it means the developers have more time to polish the game. I said this in another discussion, but I would rather have a polished release than a crappy one such as Battlefield 4 or Batman Arkham Knight. Again, what do you guys think?
I got this information from the following article that was just released on Polygon:
In one way ofc I don’t want the game to be delayed you always want it as soon as possible… But if the publisher require it then they have no chance + it’s clear that they need time on polishing. So im just waiting now to see when we get a date for it and just wait for a awesome polished release
This way of thinking is what caused the game industry to suck…
Almost no one is interested in holding the players best interest, they are usually concerned with money. DLC, pre-orders, marketing, bullshit.
Many people will buy RDR for PC even now, if it was available. My argument is not flawed - you can search the web for petitions and you will see for yourself. And we talk about a 6 year old game. For 2-3 months between the different versions of Deliverance I believe no one will reconsider buying the game.
And I can speak for myself, so that is the way I see things. If you see them different, it is your call, but that doesn’t change the facts. You better stop worrying about WH financial result - we are gamers and it is more appropriate to “worry” about the game itself.
I think the most confusing aspect of the PR is the emphasis on the console release affecting the polish on the pc release. A polished game isnt some sort of bonus prize, its the expectation. Dammit, just take the time you need, with or without consoles lol
I have no problem with the game being held back on PC so the devs can launch the game across platforms simultaneously and therefore maximise publicity and sales. I want the game to do well for WH which will mean a more certain future for the title and development house moving forward, the rewards of which we all ultimately reap. I also think the game will benefit hugely from extra development time. The beta, which seems more like an alpha in reality, shows the need for ton of refining and optimisation, so this extra time seems like a very positive thing to me.
Couldn’t agree more!
I’m completely baffled by why this distinction is needed at all. PC has the beta version (which is limited in scope and a bit rough atm). Obviously this is no where near release yet.
As the game gets more features/improvements to those already in place I’d expect some updates to the Beta, so PC gamers get to see this at the earliest that it is ready to trial anyway. The transition between “nothing” and a full release is significant, but that between a Beta version and a full release is far more modest.
I am not surprised tbh, as the game needs alot of work in its current form, however being told this via a news outlets and not from Warhorse themselves is a bit of a slap in the face to all of the backers. Also sayings its delayed to coincide with the console release is not true in my opinion, the performance, animations, voice acting, and bugs present in the beta could not be fixed in time for a summer release whilst also making the rest of the game.
Tell us how it is warhorse, you need more time, don’t let us find this stuff out from third party news websites, tell the people that made this game possible before telling the press.
Yes, this is true. This was a bad way in communication. We know this and we are sorry about this. This was not on purpose but now we can´t change it anymore. We will learn about it for the next time.
Try to be Linux baker and You will see what it means to be forgotten
Thank you!
And I hope it has been read.
I’ve just read that polygon article and decided to register on this forum in order to post a youtube video that I find quite interesting. I doubt anyone here can understand russian so I am gonna post my translation:
Thank you very much and sorry for my poor English.
Well, unfortuantely this is just a personal guess here, not the official statement as it seems to be here. We don´t have a release date yet. It is quite confusing, but you can´t count this statement.
Technically it could be true that it can be first quarter of 2017, but this would be just be a coincendence, there is no deeper knowledge behind it.
