Let! Me! Save!

there is a mod for saving and it seems to work.

for example i got a bug when i paid for a bed at ledetschko and couldn’t leave the room because of some weird collision problem. quite some hour was lost because i was just randomly walking around with no autosaves after quest progress.

if the save mechanics is about forcing immersion than i can only say that this is not true. if you think saving ruins your gameplay, than just don’t save. but having to play things over and over, just because real life happens is a bit frustrating.

btw, the sleep in own bed save mechanic doesn’t look reliable. at least the bed at the mill in rattay. it shows that it saved the game after waking up, but when you startup the game this savepoint isn’t loaded and it’s not visible in the saved games list.

i just hope the developers don’t make that mod to stop working, because to me it is essential to be able to save at any time because i have a life beside gaming and i don’t want to be forced to leave my computer on

Pc has save mod and consoles can go on standby i dont see the issue. Maybe real life commitments like having a baby > gaming.

If beds are meant to save, they sure do so very rarely. I assumed initially that they do, but when I tried to actually use sleeping as a means to save, it didn’t. Now about an hour ago I noticed the game saved when I slept… No idea why, but it struck me as odd that it saved that one time.
Now I’m about to exit the game, rented a bed at a tavern and slept; no save… trying to investigate how I’d get the game to save as it didn’t save now that I slept for like 4 hours (to get my energy to max and trying to save)…

I do have 4 savior schnaps though… but the option to save game is grey’d out while standing in “my room”. I guess I gotta go somewhere else to save.

The circled times don’t have anything to do with this, do they? 12, 5, 21, 24 are circled on the clock. But I guess 12 and 24 are just for noon and midnight, 21 and 5 for night-day shifts.

Great game and the save mechanic makes it pretty tense and I like not having the option to spam quicksave, but atleast saving when sleeping NEEDS to work.

(I’m on PS4)

Edit: No luck with going outside and running around… the save game option is still grey’d out and it says “Can’t save at this time. Try again shortly.”… Been saying that for a good 15 minutes now.

God damnit. Last save is from about 2 hours ago.

So you’re against it working better? Seems like very pointless negativity to me.

Ofcourse real life commitments (like having a baby) come first, but no one likes losing progress. Consoles being on (or in standby) just to keep game progress isn’t a proper solution - especially to families (which you mention) where several people likely use the same console. And since we’re stating the obvious: it’d only be a workaround. It still leaves the issue.

If the game is built in a way that a person needs to shut their console off without managing to save progress, there is an issue - even if real life is obviously more important.

lol, i love the comparison u made. I am the guy that can do 6 or so hours at a time but i am also the guy that has to get up and do things a lot on certain days. A save on exit would be fine

I have to admit that after leaving Skalitz, this became much less of a problem. I played around 5 hours past the tutorial so far and didn’t encounter any serious bugs. And the mod helped if I need to quit the game suddenly.

I think people are mostly upset (at least in my case) that Save on exit was promised many times, including late in the development by Toby, and then scrapped without any explanation as to why.

Well maybe the problem is that in my particular situation we just had a freak storm come through town and knock the power out and the funny thing is I had only just gotten past a point that’s taken me, no joke 3-4 hours trying to get through all because I can’t afford the alchohol nor can I make it due to being in the early game (ginger hunt). I’d be a hell of a lot more upset if this storm wasn’t so awesome to watch. Anyway it wouldn’t be so bad if they had more frequent auto saves when finishing sections of quests or just add a damn save option like the beta.

I’ve had multiple times where I’ve had 3-4 hours of gameplay and all of a sudden the game bugs out and crashes returning me to the save at the start of that play time. I can’t even tell you how frustrating it is to lose all those hours of hard work…

Also, actual idea of being carefull with your choices is kinda nice, but it does not work in this game. After 12 or so hours of game, I had a nice sword, great armour, a horse, I was well able to spend loads of money on the schnapps. Basically my horse had, like, 50 bottles on her at least. I can save any time I want. So what’s the point in this mechanic anyway? At this point in game there is nowhere to spend money. Nothing to buy. Only things I spend money on - repairs and schnapps. Oh and bribery. But, unfortunately, amount of available saves didn’t save me from ethernal loading bug though. I really hope it will be fixed. And there will be something to spend gold on. At this point, I think, I could buy a castle.

Well said, sir.

You can pause the game for short time needs and savior schnapps is very easy to brew.

Have about 50 hours of playtime
Used S.Shnaps 3-4 times throughout the whole gameplay. It’s just soooooooo easy to find beds to save/using auto-save after gaining quests.
For the love of God, don’t change the save system. Imho, it’s a very important part of the experience to just rip it out.

Agree Rosveen…oh and I play on Xbox so mods not an answer.

How about giving people a choice? Those who prefer their games more tougher stick with the current settings and then those who need more help etc. offer more save regular options.
Games should be able to be enjoyed by everyone and not the few who like their games more challenging.
I understand those who say everything is fine but it’s clearly not.
BTW I like how it currently is…

I believe they are going to add save exit with a soft save. I understand people need to leave the game and over played and dont want to travel to a bed. So a soft save is fine, but i really think everyone will appreciate a game experience where you kinda have to decide before engaging a fight if its worth it and plan it out more. Limiting saves does that.

After playing for quite awhile I’m fine with the way the current save system is. And no longer think any changes need made. The game auto saves plenty which means you only need your save schnapps once in awhile. Also I should add that making the savior schnapps is easy and cheap. One of the first things u can make and it take 1 nettle, 2 Belladonna. The recipe is in the book at an alchemist table. I’ll never buy them again.

With my lifestyle, I’m single no kids I have no problems with the save system. But I can understand those that do.

I think there should be multiple game options on the first menu. One option of you can quick save like a normal game, and the other option is to play by the games default settings for a less casual experience.

There should also be game difficulties (easy, Med , hard , impossible) . Lot of complaints about how hard the game is early on and how easy it is after leveling you combat skills to around level 15-20.

I would add on top another argument:
While the saviour schnapps is funny (sejvovice in Czech reffering to Moravian plum spirit), it is fantasy magic poition (nothing even similar ever existed) in a game which is promissed to be without any magic.
And it is poorly implemented:
You have barely no access to this magic poition at the beginning of the game (besides the 3 for-free provided by your girlfriend), but you can get it ridicoulously easy at the late phase.
The game should be easier at star (especially during tutorial) and harder at the end, not vice versa. The saviour schnapps is “vice versa”…

Why not just make “Save Everywhere / Save without Schnapps” a game option. This will please everyone!

Because of game economy?
