Levels of Realism - the little details

When I hit the button to jump and the horse takes a second to register what I’ve just commanded of him…
When it’s raining simultaneously outside as well as inside.

But for real, the one that felt really eerie to me and that bugs me in real life; is when I’m walking through the woods at any time of day on a windy day. The sounds of the wind finding it’s way through the trees, at night it’s even worse, it gives me the creeps.

The quietness of the game. The tavern sounds are mix and match for me. It is great when the tavern has people but when It is empty it is kind of immersion breaking. The at light seeps through Windows…

Travelling alone through a forest. I have a combat realism mod installed and battles are proper scary now that helped because now I am genuinely afraid of being jumped by Cumans or bandits.

Buy console because of exclusive games, comfort, portability, controller and cheaper price.

Of all those points, only the first one is true.

Why do you think?

You can play PC with a controller and on a tv anyway you like, you can move a pc (or even easier a laptop) just as easily as a console and a PC with the specs of a console is cheaper than the console.
And exclusive games can be played on emulators, but PC has more exclusives by far anyway.

Well, besides exclusives, all the other points are not true. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok let me a bit less facetious (the carrot discussion in the other thread placed me in a catch 22 mood):

So, comfort is very much a broad term but you can be as comfortable on a PC as you are on a console. I can play on my PC on the couch or at my desk or whatever. It is my choice.

Portability is easily proveb wrong. My laptop is way more portable than any PS4 or Xbone.

controller is also wrong. I have an Xbox 1 controller for my PC which I use a lot. Especially for platformers and fighting games.

Cost is also not entirely correct. I can build a PS4 level PC for about the same price as I build a PS4 it involves work but I it is possible. If you feel like that is too much, let me tell you the other reason they are not cheaper. When GT5 came out I was going to buy a PS3 just to play it. However my laptop broke down at the same time so I didn’t have money for both. So I bought a semi decent laptop and gamed there. I couldn’t afford to buy a toy when I needed a computer for Uni. So no, consoles are not cheaper. They have very limited functionality and further in their life cycle their cost/performance gets worse and worse and makes them a worse investment than a PC.

The forums would be flooded by people whining about “ impossible ” hunting if this wasn’t the case. Now imagine if they couldn’t not save before shooting the first arrow!

I live in the country and this is without a doubt creepy as hell in game as in real life.

Desktop PC is generally played with keyboard and mouse, it usually consists of heavy box and monitor which sometimes can not work separately.
Exclusive games are supported for dedicated platform and made control wise for such platform. It is uneasy to control game with console controls on PC unless you know how to work around it.

@jivejester i got to state that this is by far Not creepy, but it is very beautiful! Personal preferences i’d say.

I didn’t compare it to laptop. If you play with controller on your PC, then you need to invest more and it is not genuine PC. If you know how to build, it’s only advantage to you, but if you buy pre-built as only gamer, you will not get it as cheap anywhere.

So you don’t need a monitor to play with a console?
If you play PC you can just hook up a controller and play as if on a console, except more powerful and more diverse.
It’s true that you’re not supposed to use emulators, but if you only want one platform (either way you’ll have a pc anyway, so that’s probably the better decision for that reason too) the sheer amount of exclusives for PC (literally thousands of indies every year, hundreds of which are gems and none of which you can play on consoles) should give it the advantage, and on top of that you can also “cheat” and play console exclusives on PCs, and that’s both xbox and playstation exclusives. And with a controller hooked up you don’t need to change any controls, because they’re still the same.

While you need to take just box for both platforms and connect to another, some PCs don’t work with any monitor, and desktop PC has generally heavier box.
But console controller is not dedicated for PC. Only in recent years, I see rise of popularity in playing on PC so.

Get a laptop then, a gaming laptop is the easier thing to use and still way more powerful than a console.

I don’t want laptop. I prefer desktop PC. Besides, having console is not about having all the possible games from out there. It certainly is not advantage of it.

You can build a micro atx PC in a shoebox. It is way more portable. All monitors work across all PCs. You have full compatibility there. Sure if you own a sync monitor GSync alone won’t work with an AMD card but that is one functionality of a monitor not the monitor itself. The monitor will still turn on and off and display a picture. Lastly there is no work around to using a controller on a PC it is plug and play just like a console. And gaming laptops are good for some on the go gaming btw. With the latest gen GPUs they are the same as desktop PCs and even previous gens are fine. I am playing KCD soon my now old Lenovo Y510p (755m sli) plugged to external mouse, keyboard and screen. I am playing at 720p scaled up to 1080p on medium settings and it works great.

Well you could try a more powerful console like the xbox one x. PS4 is outdated and not very powerful so you cant expect the same quality from a PS4 as an xb1x or decent PC.

It is still cheaper. At the time i bought my xbox it out performed my pc of slightly more expensive price. Thats just out the gate. You also have to figure in that i dont have to upgrade my Xbox to keep up with the ever increasing demands of pc version games. One xbox and its been over 4 years of play, no upgrades
