License not verified (Epic Games)

Hi all, since windows update(version 2004) I can’t launch the game. “License not verified, Init of EOS has failed.”. I bought the game from Epic Games, royal edition. I tried disable all antifirus program(ESET NOD 32, windows defender), reinstall game, launch with administrator rights. I dunno what to do more. Please help. I wrote mail to support team without response (ticket was submitted 17.06.2020 17:00 GTM+2).

Hola Devs?!! Deleted, reinstalled, verfiied files, tried different network… Still not working.

I had the same problem but somehow I solved it by enabling “offline mode browsing” at the settings.

Likewise. Thinking the windows update may have introduced some permissions/licence issues. Am now finding that I don’t have permission to access the WindowsApp folder, so MS store doesn’t work, Xbox app, even the flippin Photos app! Something’s broken somewhere permissions wise… Do wonder if this is all related as these issues have only occurred since the updates, otherwise I hadn’t touched my system.

I have the exact same problem. After the latest Windows update I suddenly get the ‘License not verified’ error. Restarting the Epic Launcher or my PC didn’t work, reinstalling didn’t help and enabling offline mode browsing also didn’t change anything.

I will now also create a support ticket, maybe it will pop up on their radar.

It worked before I upadted my Windows 10 from 1809 to 2004…

No, the problem still exists for me, even though there seemed to be a patch for the game.
I created a bug ticket somewhere on their homepage, but haven’t received any reply yet.

Moral of the story is, try not to buy games from Epic unless there’s absolutely no alternative. Unless you got the game free of course

I reinstalled windows today and stop update to version 1909 and I can play again… This is not a solution, but xmas is great time to clean PC :smiley: and play KCD :smiley:

no doubt… I have time now, so I tried complete reinstall windows again, update everything to version 20h2(build 19042.685 , Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.551.0 , installed byhttps://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=799445) and KCD runs fine. I don’t believe that somebody fix it :frowning:, it takes too much time . Shit happened between build 1909-2004, something irreversible. Wish luck…

Now I could try the Windows Feature Experience Pack you mentioned… but don’t have a lot of hope…

Edit: nope. I even reinstalled and redownloaded KCD completely… still the same error… maybe I have to reinstall the epic launcher too?

:frowning: maybe some functionality changed during update from 19xx to 2004 and the change is irreversible :frowning:, this is reason, why fresh install of windows works…
