Not sure if it’s a bug or intentional but Light Armour perk doesn’t activate when I equip either Hunting Gloves or Leather Gloves. Surprisingly it works with vambraces. Either there needs to be some clarity between what is considered “Plate” and what isn’t or some way of knowing what works before buying gear.

Confirmed in 1.2.2. Wearing Leather Gloves removes the Light Armour buff.
I have also failed to find any type of gloves without breaking my Light Armour perk. You have mentioned vambraces do work with perk. Where you can get them ?

Vambraces aren’t a type of glove. They are arm guards. You get one for free when you learn Archery for the first time in Rattay. Or loot a better one from cumans.
still have this problem, I emailed Support@kingdomcomerpg.com so hopefully they’ll do something about it.
Armor classification in description would be nice. I like that chainmail is considered light armor.
This is a bug, I think there is a mod over at nexus to fix this.
I do hope they fix it soon.
Immersive Balance mod for PC fixed this bug.

riveted vambraces are the only arm slot item that work with the light armor perk

just padded armor and chainmail coifs that is it no helmets
