Lock picking on nextgen consoles

is it everywhere the same? cause on PS4 it’s a Nightmare, started the game with a verry good vibe until i came a cross to lockpicking.after 20 min of trying i gave up. this kills an amazing game on PS4 and Xbox one. the game beta was tested on PC i think and not on next gen consoles, hope they fix it.

It is hard in the early game, just like real life. You need to learn/practice more and more if you want to earn something. Beleive me, I could also throw away my controller. But after a couple tries (which can be several hours!), I could do it!
If you earn lvl3, it will be more easier, because you can choose a perk.
But try to turn off the vibration of you controller - it helped me a lot in the beggining.
And never give up, just practice at Pashek’s place, there is an easy chest - which is always re-closes (just turn away for a moment).

Lock picking is useless in this game unless you play on a computer (PC) then all you need to do is hold down D button and control but for us console users it is a joke on us or egg on our faces but keep on truckin.

ok my vibration isn’t on and in my opinion youre supossed to be enyoing a game, if i’ve got to spend hours and hours for maybe getting the click of it then my controller wouden’t be in my hands anymore and that’s cald frustration. i’m back on the elder scrolls and others like it : they are great. and my friend who’s playing the game on pc tried it also and quit. and the other thing is why do we have to pay a lot more then the pc gamers.wel i’m starting METRO EXODUS now i’ve played the first ones, and played for hours

You don’t need lock picking to enjoy the game.
I’ve nearly finished game and have not picked 1 lock.

so then you didn’t complete the side quests?

i must say something… i tought the same, until i read “lockpicking its impossible on console” trhead.

only to say, im lvl 15 opening very hard locks without potions at first attempt. on ps4. only read advices. and try, the hands position its a must have, i put controller on my legs and hands up. trust me, its so easy then. in lvl 5 things go easier.

You have to try very easy locks only. I was first angry too, but very easy locks got me to lvl4-5 and after that on the practice chest by the miller was possible, which got me even higher and now it’s easy…

i was mad in the beginning as well, but the more i tried the easier it got. Now with the additional perks its realy easy so they don’t need to make any changes regarding lockpicking imho. Just practice practice. try hunting first, get game, cook it, sell it to butchers. Use money for loads of lock picks and start using them. after an hour you will guaranteed open very easy to easy locks without any sweat.

The padfoot potion helps too

Not sure if the actual mechanics have changed but the difference visually is really handy to help you keep the correct spot with the right stick (I play using a DS4 on PC) and IMO it looks beautiful:

As most have said, early on you will not be able to pick anything but very easy locks. and those are tough when you are level 0. Like everything else, the more you try you gain experience in that skill. How do you lockpick your way into Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice.

This absolutely needs to be patched. I’ve even seen heaps of youtube videos of people saying the same thing. I was an insane lock pick master on Skyrim, I could pick master level locks basically right away I was so good. This game is just broken when it comes to lock picking on consoles. The interface was clearly designed for the PC and it does NOT translate well over to console at ALL. For the love of god please fix this soon!

I lockpicked my way into the monastery before becoming a monk since I refused to read spoilers on who Pious was. Ended up ruining a few quests while there since I stole a few quest items that were now with my worldly goods in a trunk outside the monastery.

Been trying to open chests with lockpicking since I started playing…Feb 20th (ps4)…Just opened my first one today ! Trained with Miller Peshek to get lvl 2 , and it really made a difference. Saved up enough lockpicks from selling loot, and kept trying on the millers chest until I hit 3. Now its a lot easier with the perk you get once you hit level 3. Good luck !

lol lockpicking on Skyrim was just not even hard? Why do so many people give up when its hard. If you would endure it for an hour you would knwo that you would have no problem anymore locjkpicking. i’ve come to a point in the game i dont even have to put in on the sweetspot i just turn the lock when i see its yellow not even matters if it’s a big yellow dot or small one.

So seriously try harder and stop ruining it for people that want a challenge, im playing on ps4 with controler fyi.

No it doesn’t. It’s perfectly fine as it is.

Dude I’ve been gaming for over 35 years. I beat almost anything I play on the hardest difficulty, I love a challenge. This game mechanic is busted on console. Sorry if I disagree with you.
