Lockpicking ruins this game on console

In regards to the Rattay miller Peschek, he offers two training skills Henry can learn, lock picking and pickpocketing. I asked to train in both, with pickpocketing last. I seem to be in a “loop”. After my lesson and I failed in picking out the dagger, every time I click on him to talk, he goes through the whole eaching dialog on picking his dagger out without getting caught. Once he stops the dialog, he just walks away. He has not done anything else since I asked him to train in pickpocketing. Has anyone experienced this also?

Here is a video, me on xbox. The first lock is “very hard” and probably on par for “easy” when starting off

Personally, I wish this game was never made for the console. In my humble opinion, I believe consoles ruin a game before it even gets made. There should be separate console games and separate PC games. To address the point, a console controller consists of two joysticks specifically. This means that already, to play a 3d open world game, it is going to be difficult and clunky, which it damn well is. Consoles are better suited to platform games, which is what they ran back in the day. Consoles are not meant for 3d gaming and THAT is why they ruin PC games, because devs have to make the game run on a damn console FIRST, before it can run on a PC. Such restrictions completely ruin the game and THIS is where the lockpicking restraint shows the true nature of how consoles wreck PC gaming. It can’t be done easily enough with a tiny little joystick. Please, Warhorse, DO NOT CHANGE THE LOCKPICKING SYSTEM, in fact don’t change ANYTHING because it is FINE AS IT IS. If anything, make something that the console causals can live with but don’t NERF it for us PC gamers. We have to put up with our games being RUINED by consoles as it is. Playing a game these days is like experiencing a Pizza with all the toppings removed because a console can’t handle it all, and the kids don’t like chilli or strong tastes.

/RANT: I will say this, I sympathise with the consolers, but at the end of the day, they are going to whine about pretty much anything that involves having to put any effort whatsoever into the game. They can’t accept being penalised for being lazy, stupid and complacent, which is what videogames have pandered to for so long. Hand-held, dumbed down crap for the masses is for mainstream AAA BS. Please, Warhorse, don’t fall for it. If gamers can’t be arsed to LEARN then let them suffer. If gamers expect to be entitled to have everything handed to them because they CANNOT BE BOTHERED, let them suffer!!! This LAZY low-IQ society needs to man up and LEARN not to be dumb and lazy.

In all fairness though, if you’re going to make a change to the lockpicking for consoles, KEEP IT ON CONSOLES, DO NOT CHANGE IT ON PC. Thank you.

I sincerely hope that by “fixing”, they aren’t nerfing it for PC… then before we know it, consoles have ended up being responsible for nerfing anything challenging out of the game, oh look, it becomes just another FO4 bullet-sponge walking sim existence. Bland, lifeless dumbed down game, just like most of them out there these days.

The only thing that needs “fixing” in this game are the bugs. It should never have been made for the console.

They are only planning on changing it to be more like pc… Ugh , also you should be thankful that so many console playerz want to play these games. It increases the pool increasing the games made. Games sucked on pc before xbox came out

I will bear your words in mind, however I disagree that PC games sucked. In fact, they have grown crap since the merging of consoles, thanks to their development in capabilities. The other issue is society, not just ‘consoles’ per se. People have grown lazy and complacent. Kingdom come proves this in the complaints that are emerging from that society.

Its called “fixed mindset” people are too afraid or offended by difficult things to learn how to overcome. I posted xbox lockpicking just a few posts up

Lockpicking should be as difficult as pickpocketing.

On PC it is.

On console it isnt. It is a controller issue.

The game maker agreed.

End of.

It will be changed, but i encourage everyone to learn how to do it with two joysticks, before its gone. Once its gone youll never be able to test your mettle again

A few “minor bugs”?! I’ve encountered no less than 4 game breaking bugs where I couldn’t continue the main story or got stuck in an infinite loading screen. Not to mention the countless other bugs like whole exteriors of buildings not loading, textures gone from whole towns, NPCs walking around with no heads or glitched out clothes, my horse floating, having to manually delete saves cuz the game won’t save over old ones, losing hours from corrupted data, being thrown up in the sky from an alchemy bench, weapons not appearing in your hand, archery targets being invisible at the archery contests, dice being invisible, the list goes on and on and on. It’s not right that they released a completely unfinished game and charged us $60 to fuckin beta test it for them. They should’ve finished the fuckin game and had people test it.

yEAH IT PRETTY MUCH DOES LOOK LIKE NOT A LOT OF TESTING HAS GONE ON, OR MORE TO THE POINT, THEY MIGHT HAVE FOUND ALL THESE ISSUES, BUT NOT HAD TIME TO FIX THEM BECAUSE OF RELEASE DEADLINES AND DEEP SILVER WANTING TO CASH OUT ON THE SALES DEADLINE.
(SORRY FOR CAPS)

Publishers don’t give a flying crap.

“I don’t think this was designed for consoles”

See, this is the problem I have in general with gaming nowadays. A game has to be made to obey the restrictions of consoles and their capabilities, more to the point the unyielding, un-ergonomic twiddle sticks of a Console controller. PC games suffer greatly in their potential to render and process amazing experiences on our PCs because the game has to conform to the restrictions of the bainful Console computer, which is a glorified toy computer. There are such limitations that the controller puts on the game, but the real issue that I see can be overcome is simply to either make a PC game exclusively for PCs… or make a simple kiddy version for consoles and keep PCs free to push the boundaries of navigation/minigame/graphical capabilities I couldn’t give two craps if I don’t get Overwatch or Super Mario for my PC, because I’m more interested in engaging in an intellectual, demanding, challenging, problem-solving, RPG decision-making, 3D world space navigation computer game. The more consoles and their restricting controller twiddle sticks keep holding back the potential of PC game development, the more we see mediochre games that are made to the constraints of a twiddle stick toy input device, which was really designed to work with racing or 2D platform gaming - simple directional input experiences.

Console Controllers are clunky and unwielding for 3D navigation, you find yourself strafing all over the place and it is laughable to watch some people use them. They are a thorn in the side of gaming development. Keep the bleep bloop casual s*%t on consoles and keep intellectual input devices and amazing PC experiences safe from limitation because of consoles and their awful “button pads”.

That’s what i thought at the start of the game. Once you get used and improve your skill a bit, it’s actually very easy.

I agree with the original premise of the thread: This breaks the game for me on PS4. I’ve spent a thousand hours lockpicking in Skyrim, and two thousand of Fallout, so I’ve picked a lock or two with twiddly thumbsticks, but this is ridiculous.

Lockpicking is too easy now. Im only level 6 and picked my first very hard lock so…

Pressing a button on the keyboard what turns the lock in a constant speed and having additionally a precise mouse - compared with…

two unprecise analogue sticks which have to be moved in the exact precise speed and place as well… (what is even more funny when being left-handed)…

What a shame that WH haven’t adapted this mechanism for the consoles yet to make it this playable like it is on the PC platform…

@WH. Next time, please find another publisher who doesn’t force you adapt your stuff to consoles as well - as it looks that you’re definitely not able to handle it…
