Making Money Without Killing or Stealing

No hunting animals either?

Well, you can also buy stuff from 1 town and sell it on another, but besides these… you summed pretty much.

But what else did we want for an unemployed Henry?

What is bad on stealing? Best feeling is rob the dead.

I’m not against it, I’m just saying that stealing and killing is not “legitimate”, to me. Hunting is looked at as poaching and a huntsman or whatever can stop you and search you for poached meat, so that is illegal. There is no crime in picking flowers and brewing potions.

I did not think of buying and selling, playing the merchant.

But what about fishing? If you hit those fishing spots technically you’re stealing because it’s not your trap. So let me buy a basket and set up my own fish traps. Or hunt without it being a crime, implement buying tags or whatever. Cutting wood; if you had a camping setup where you could actually fuel a fire and gather wood you could sell excess wood.

I’m thinking post story when my Henry is tired of killing and raiding bandit camps and wants to become a farmer and sell his own carrots, instead of days old carrots he found on dead people lol.

Selling communal goods

do you know if market prices vary from town to town? I never paid much attention. I know, or so it appears, that all the goods are the same. Clothes in one area can be bought and sold in others, even Hold specific tabbards. It does not appear to be like Mount and Blade where different cities have different supplies and demands, which could be worked out relatively easy I think in a mod or an update

i do like the idea of Henry the producer (mine silver ore, set fish traps, plant crops, cut wood, etc). hope they make resource management a DLC

Sub thought:
If vendors sell what you sell them and you can brew your own spirits(assuming your own are higher alcohol content/better then the stuff theyre selling) could you sell the Barmaid your crafted spirits, buy up all of her other inventory and then make the locals only drink your brand getting them more drunk?

Furthermore, if vendors sell what you sell them, and you can buy in one city and sell in another at a different/higher price, could you theoretically be the only vendor in the game(or at least be the only one making real money)? Constantly buying all stock from and then selling to the game vendors?

Treasure hunts are also considered stealing? Or is it for cheaters who want easy way out?

Even the DLC preorder loot is considered stealing if you take it.

As for making money without killing or stealing, you can knock out bandits, or Cumans, or just beat them into submission, and then let them go unarmed. Then you take, not steal, their items, and no one dies. Also, by disarming them, not only are you not killing, you are also preventing them from killing honest wayfarers.

There’s also dice, and honorable duels for coin or loot.

Compare that to your method, by ruthlessly tearing out the poor defenseless flowers in the prime of their lives, you are in fact killing. For shame.

So, I have both proven that you are wrong, in that you are not making money without killing, clearly you are. I have also shown how to make money without killing or stealing.

Or just do quests. There’s no real need to grind money anyway.

Murphy’s Law reference spotted ! Nice one… :stuck_out_tongue:

There is a questline you could complete to own your “Hunting licence”, as far as I know. But it involves killing poor animals either…

Quests are not very rewarding, money-wise, but at least realistic (a few dozen of groschens meant weekly salary for most people).

There is still dice, archery contests (at least when they will be patched :stuck_out_tongue:), buying/selling, brewing potions (involving murdering flowers like my fellow said), and that’s pretty much all…

Maybe they’ll add some “herald” quests, where you have to go around spreading news and delivering things… since Henry is seemingly the only horseman folk around here. ^^

There’s also supposed to be “combat academy” coming, so melee tournaments? Duels? Either way, sounds good to me.

Well, I mean, not in game but TECHNICALLY it’s not your stuff…you just got a map to it and found it; usually in a turned over wagon or in a chest a a campsite that clearly has people staying there or a burned down house. Not as bad as killing and looting, but technically stealing lol

Beating someone up and taking their stuff is totally stealing bro :joy:
Can’t convince me otherwise lol.

The game doesn’t count it as stealing. Of course if that’s not to your liking, there is always dice, honorable duels, or archery contests.

Exactly. I should be able to, if have my own set up, take wood cutting, fishing, hunting(already can but its poaching so watch out!), or mining? Maybe farming? I see a lot of gardens full of what looks like cabbage or lettuce and I can’t pick it, kind of lame. I wanna grow my own carrots damnit!

As for pulling plants being murder, I’ll half agree with you…except they have no face, bleed(or, not like an animal does) and make no sound to declare their pain, there for I dont have to overcome anything to pick one; when was the last time someone shot a flower with a bow and arrow and then slit its throat with a knife because that is the fastest, most humane way to do it if your shot doesnt kill? lol. Even the most peaceful hippies will pick a flower and smell it

I’m not talking about the actual rules, I’m talking about in real life; its hard to live a legit living in KCD. Dice is gambling, and you use rigged dice if you’ve found any…so that’s cheating

I also struggle with the money. Especially quests give you less reward than I expected.

Where I currently get my money from is hunting. I cook the meat so it is not marked as stolen anymore. Then I visit the closest villages and sell the meat there.

Boars currently take me 8 arrows to kill which I can retrieve. One boar holds ~150 pieces of meat which sell at 4 to 5 groschen a piece. Thats 600 to 750 Groschen per boar.

There is definitely plenty of money to be had, you just gotta kill people or steal stuff. Like, a lot of the missions are either “go take this from so and so and bring it to me”(stealing) or “go here and clear this camp”(Either killing and stealing or knocking people out and stealing or sneaking/trespassing and stealing). There is no honest living…as for making money, there is plenty to be had. What I did at first was run bandit raids for Cpt Bernard. You get paid for the mission upon completion, you can cut ears off the dead bandits (if you have a dagger) which you can turn in for 25g each, and you can loot the bandits you defeat and sell that to people for another like 500-800g depending on how much you can carry an how well you can haggle. HOWEVER, if you hold on to your bandit ears you’ll follow a chain of people giving out quests to kill bandits or cumins, eventually someone will pay like 600g an ear or so I’ve heard.

Another method, which I think is more tedious but has a better return of investment(considering when going raiding you will have to repair armor and heal your wounds and such so you’ll spend some money) is Herbalism and crafting and selling potions.

It costs like less than 10g for the ingredients to make Savior Schnapps and you can make it as soon as you learn how to read a book. You can buy ingredients and find an alchemy station in Rattay and a hut outside Uzhitz or Neuhoff, I cant remember, but she sells more ingredients than the shop in Rattay. Anyway, craft a bunch of Savior Schnapps and you’re basically trading ingredients for potions after your initial purchase of ingredients.
