To avoid misunderstanding, the phrase “where is the beef?” refers to the American standards of a business with a burger.
The “beef” symbolizes the profit / benefit. A senseless business without profit is thus a Veggie Burger (no, please do not pick to pieces ) All right? The more mature vintages of us will remember …

And so goes Tobi again, squelching speech if it’s not something he wants to talk about. I’m grievously disappointed. Especially since I didn’t even see gratuitous flaming going on.
But the Topic still didn´t lead to anything, especially to nothing new. Everything that had to be said was said. It was for the most part a repitition of what has been said before.
And I still don´t know why it was open again in the first place-

That’s not a decision we can make. We do not know the minds of every human. We do not know the past present and future of every human in the world. So how can we possibly know “everything that 'had; to be said ‘was’ said”?
Rhetorical question. Because we can’t that’s the purpose of an open forum. Already one thread had been shut down on the subject, so many people (who obviously find the issue important) went to the other older thread. Where they happily let their voices be heard. They in turn were told “you are irrelevant, your discussions aren’t achieving our goals so talk about what we want you to talk about.” while I can understand that position I do find it wrong.
Of course we can´t know if someone would add something very important and changing in this discussion. But from my experience I say that this is unlikely. Of course this is just my opinion and can be proven wrong.
And …well the qustion is…is this an open forum? In some sort yes it is. But it is also a forum with a theme or a topic when you like. Of course there is an Off-Topic section, but I think there are some limits to that and those limits were reached again, especially because the original question is answered.
I don´t think this discussions are somewhat unimportant or irrelevant, but such delicate topics like sexuality always lead to a rude or unpolite behaviour, espacially when they are hold in the internet, as we could see in the topic. And this is something that just doesn´t belong here. Again, just my opinion.

Besides @Madaras, I’m not sure why you take such offense to that particular thread being closed in the first place. Yes, I understand that you were the OP, but even your last comment was almost a month ago. The only reason it was “bumped” in the first place was because of a humorous picture of a well known Alpha bug. The thread was not magically revived into some history changing enlightening discussion.

I haven’t posted because the thread isn’t about me. It’s about the topic, and end the end it’s about what people make of it. I find the discussion very interesting and hearing everyone’s opinions educational. Still what most people talk about is more relevant in the “homosexuality in gaming” however that had been closed because a moderator failed to moderate in even the simplest of ways. That there was an explosion in the conversation was no doubt in part in response to such an act.
-Edit To highlight my point Tobi, like a 5-year old child, talks about only what Tobi wants to talk about. Instead of being a beacon of maturity and impartiality that a moderator should be. he’s shown this in post he’s made in other threads saying things like (there are better things to talk about, like the alpha) and every single post in this thread.
And talking about things you’re interested in is fine, just don’t try to force discussion on other threads to get people to talk about your interest. Speak in a thread or create a thread where your comment is relevant.
Honestly man, I can’t say I agree with you. However, judging from the content of the majority of your posts, you won’t hold that against me.
I personally don’t feel that it is a moderator’s responsibility to play schoolyard monitor. We are (for the most part) adults, and when a thread gets so obviously out of hand and context as that one, closing it is the only rational and efficient solution, I think. The fact that it actually stayed open until today is a testament to the Community Manager’s decision to let us talk. That thread got heated yes, but was not closed until today. I believe the reason for that is that it was bound to simply flare again.
Yes, we can’t know that for certain. But as humans, we often make deductions based on reasonable evidence. And if you can honestly go back and read that thread and say that the evidence doesn’t support it crossing the line again, then I’m not sure what else to say, man.
