Multiplayer Mod

I know that the official devs wont be implementing multiplayer into the game anytime soon, if ever. So i hope there are a few competent modders and coders out there that can do this. Trust me, not everyone playing this game is a single player regressive; there are people called PvP/PvE players, trust me, we exist. Honestly if multiplayer came to this game at some point, this would honestly be one the greatest sword fighting multiplayers ever. The combat system is just fantastic and it would be a good time to add character customization. Tournaments, 1v1 dueling, lol imagine a multiplayer mini dice game  Imagine a multiplayer CRUSADE MOD that has new factions and the battleground is set in JERUSALEM. Just think, for all the single player regressives that are about to rage at my post; save your breath, you are going to be ignored anyway.

How about no?

As cool as it would be, it’s probably not very feasible due to latency. Maybe 1vs1 would be feasible, I dunno. But anything much bigger than that I sincerely doubt would work very well.

A Battle Royale gamemode with a medieval game like this would be quite fun to try, haha.

It’s on CryEngine which I’m pretty sure natively supports MP. Might not be too hard to mod in once we get tools and/or a script hook.

i thought you had to be over 18 to buy this game

That’s being rather naive. It’s not like we just load some files up in CryEngine and click a tickbox titled “Enable MP Support”.

Each and every action will have to be syncronized, movement - angle of attack/defence. You don’t have a lot of time to block attacks in this game, add latency to that and it will be tremendously awkward. Then you have to get the animations to flow along nicely on top of that.

Sounds fun, but I don’t think the combat system will work well in multiplayer against players. when everyone is “good” it would just boil down to making riposte (since you down have to match the direction of the blow) or shooting with a bow.

I will go to M&B or war of vikings for my MP fix =)

There’s just no way they’d be able to get it to work acceptibly with the way objects and interiors are moddled in this game, you’d need a central server and then each client would need to check with the server and each other client about the positioning of every other object. Just wouldn’t work with today’s tech and bandwidth. Explained that badly, but cba translating it back into nerdspeak and then into English again. M&B, Chivalry, War of the roses etc are all good options for multiplayer/pvp. It really isn’t as simple as just flicking some multiplayer switch somewhere, needs to be designed that way from the ground up

Pretty sure player positions have been possible to synchronize since the early 90’s. Don’t see why it would suddenly be a lost technology?

As for the terrain and map in general, that’s up to the client to render. Not the server. Only entities within the immediate proximity would have to be accurately updated. Others could just be pinged every now and then.

Well it’s not my area of expertese, I was just drawing on what I remebered from someone explaing why vehicles were taking so long to get added to Squad, which is on a different engine entirely so may not be relevent here. Pretty sure even if positioning tech has been around since the 90s it still needs to be baked in from the start though, so not something a mod could add, which was the question I was trying to answer

It probably is, this game’s made with CryEngine which is a pretty decent engine. Squad’s on UnrealEngine 4 by Epic Games which IMO has always been ahead in terms of engine development.

If you’re talking about a video, I recall that one, was related to interpolating and predicting the vehicle movement. It was very erratic and rubberbanded when they used the native networking with UE4.

They did a good job syncing vehicles in the end.

It probably could be added via modding, the question is if it’d be worth it.

what benefit would mp mod bring? i cant see any positive aspect in it. this type of game is not meant to be played in mp, not even coop. its about making your own epic story in an immersive world. other games and types of games can satisfy multiplayer urges.

To be fair, the combat is pretty nice and it would indeed be fun to challenge friends to duels if it worked nicely.

i can see duels could be fun, but thats about it. story itself would be terrible experience in coop. but something like inviting a friend to a duel, from his own game, i could see it as a fun little perk. and after that everyone continues with his own game.

game not set up for coop (eg, primary and sidekick) but would be nice it could be so enabled

I think some coop would be cool but I don’t want to see another life is Feudal MMO. So I definitely don’t support full multiplayer.

somehow getting 1v1 tournaments would be fun, but with the way combat works and internet speeds/latency it would be a mess trying to do anything more then that. Would be fun though, maybe in future titles they could try something. Have a tavern be a place to get online and find fights or something

Working on it actually. But there’s a high chance we’ll hit a dead end this week, since we need to use the SDK.

Wait, you are actually working on it for real? That is awesome!

I completely agree. Kingdom Come and Chivalry: medieval warfare need to have a love child.
