every1 would just hide in a corner like in pubg, wouldnt be fun cause 2 guys would be dueling while campers(90 percent of BR games playerbase) would plink arrows from thier safe spot.
It would require changes to the core combat to make even 1v1 duels fun, right now whoever tries to strike would get hit by a riposte in return. a modder would have to implement directional blocks and then it might be alright.
If you took out the riposte system so the first to attack doesnt get punished more than just some stam loss as opposed to getting hit as well that would help. Maybe implement a swing cancel mechanic? Like when you have an arrow drawn you hit A(on Xbox) so when you swing if you hit a button soon enough you can cancel your swing. That way you could bait the other player into throwing a block.
Is there not already directional blocking? If not that wouldnt be terrible would it? Just add directional blocking but no animations for it?
If they figured something out that would be dope but stuff will need to be sacrificed to make it playable Iâm sure
Also would have to remove clenches. Or at least balance it to 50% win chance, clench it too easy to spam and stun lock
I have my serious doubts that a multiplayer mod for KCD will work well. There are just too many obstacles to overcome in my personal opinion.
Im not disputing, just asking. Does clinch, blood rush, etc give players the equivalent of fantastic strikes in other games (whirlwind, earthquake, etc)?
Thought KCD wanted to do away with attack button spamming. Are perfect block, clinch, etc not spamming in their effect?
Seems like Oblivion vs Elder scrolls online
Clenching doesnt always work in an open field but it still works.
Why I posted it here is because I imagine how I would do a 1v1 is to box them in like when youâre training with Cpt Bernard. When I train with him I get him into a corner and just stab, initiate clinch, face punch, stab, repeat until ive leveled my guy up enough. You lose some stam but stabbing doesnt cost much and you gain some back during the animation of the clinch and the knockback in general. You can just stun lock him.
If you were to do 1v1s you would want to eliminate this I would say, taking it to just swings and blocks. No perfect block/riposte, no clinches and, if at all possible, a swing cancel mechanic to bait the opponent and a targeted blocking system so it literally comes down to stamina management and being able to block swings realistically.
This game tends to get easy, or at least so far, once you work with Cpt Bernard for a while and get some perks, youre right. I have the head shot one, one for making them bleed easier, savagry do get better stats outside of towns for bandit fights, boar to run into them in heavy armor and i rock a shield, mace and full plate armor. Literally no one I come across stands a chance. I raid 5-6 man bandit camps and literally 1 hit all of them except the leader sometimes takes 2 lol. I also have a perk where after I kill someone I do more damage or some shit. You can definitely make a really broken character with good perks and good weapons skill, which you can get for free by just working with Cpt Bernard for like 2-3 in game days.
Chivalry was great, just needed more work on it. I had high hopes for For Honor, and it was fun for a while, but with the lack of scenario battles like in Chivalry it got stale quickly. My problem with Chivalry is the targeting systemâŠhigh end players just loosen their sensitivity and flail around and cut people up, ive seen crazy people. You implement a better fighting system like FH or KCD and it would be amazing.
If youâre looking for a medieval game with directonal combat, you have mount and blade, sadly itâs online part is combats only, and i think the upcoming m&b2 mp will also be battles only. But there are several gametypes, from duels, to battles and sieges.
Thereâs also chilvary, and another chilvary inspired game coming soon, which i donât recall the name right now, but these two are MP exclusives.
Making a MP mod for a complex game like this is pretty much impossible (itâs still possible, but no one will bother with the huge headache that would be to sync everything). The work for Skyrim Together is already a huge undertaking, and they cheated the system a lot, like for example, not sync everything, like the HP (acording to the devs on a reddit post).
Kind of what I was thinking. What you would have to do to make it playable, and then fair would just be a nightmare I can imagine.
Well, never underestimate PC modders. Those guys are seriously one of the coolest bunch. But this piece seem to be so complicated Iâm sceptical this will work out.
Networking is always difficult. Even if the engine has rudimentary native support for it, it more often than not has to be modified a lot.
One example is GTA San Andreas, it has 2 multiplayer mods both of which are wildly popular. It certainly is possible, then again, that game is several years old and not even remotely as complicated as this game.
I believe a gamemode allowing players to âinhabitâ the characters already on the map and playing out their roles could be a lot of fun. Not everyone could be a Henry, but for the most part, each person could do as they please. Be an innkeeper, be a Lord, be a Beggar/Wayfarer on the side of the road.
The scene with GTA RP right now is part of what is fueling GTAVâs success beyond their microtransactions. If someone could code something like the above, I think it could be a fun experience to say the least.
Alt Start/Alt Life. Pick a profession, a town, a class/caste and you spawn with gear related to your choices. They have this in Skyrim and the main story is avoided unless you go to the town the main story starts in and or/talk to certain people youâll get a marker. But you can literally avoid the entire story if you want.
and a house. You get a house in the town you pick, however houses in each town were already a thing so for this mod it just starts you there; for KCD they would need to add houses to towns or a cabin in the woods or whatever so other NPCs wouldnt use it. Iâve notice there are hardly any houses Iâve come across with only one person. Places like the Rathaus in Rattay have like 6-8 people living there. Add a create a character, which they already have a tool they just dont let us use it and use a stock character instead, and that would be awesome
Itâs easy to imagine a game a certain way especially when you know nothing about game development. Latency being one of the smallest issues where just a single digit in latency difference would turn a fight in favor of the player with a better ping.
Calling people who prefer their RPG single-player âregressiveâ wonât earn you any kind of respect here, especially since KCD is an RPG almost in itâs purest form. And here we are, we finally get a proper RPG to play with after a dozen Bethesda games and people want to shoehorn multiplayer into it. This game ainât for you.
I think your being a little naive here bud. Itâs not that everyone wants to change the game or that itâs not for them. Saying that is just ignorant. Itâs that a lot of people see how wonderful this game is and of course when a game is good u want to be able to play with friends even if itâs just on a coop scale. Hey I say if people can make it happen and from what Iâve read some are already working on it than power to them. I may try it, I may not. Whatâs so wrong with that. Nothing except u just donât agree. Well who cares. I love the game even in itâs current state of occasional bugs. One of the best Iâve played in awhile. Personally I like the thought of being able to be a merchant in the town square barely having things to sell and working my way up to a large shop selling armour and weapons. And FYI just because some donât agree with your way of thinking that there shouldnât be a sort of multiplayer or coop doesnât make them wrong. So chill your tits with the whole this game ainât for u. Who died and made u king of who decides that.
Calling somebody naive when he addresses name calling about regressive thinking doesnât get respect from me, either.
MP could pretty easily be made by modders familiar with the game engine. A face generator, new character models, etc will happen in the modding world.
MP will be done. And it will be a popular mod for many. The point was that that vision of the game was not the vision of the dev team.
Bluntly put, there are games out there that had MP designed in (or were a major feature) and have better combat and better graphics. Those games were designed for that type of player. This one was not. Shoving KC:Ds limitations into MP will be a big disappointment compared to those other games. It will be a novelty that compromises much.
