My impressions on 0.2 that ive seen(Updated)

I recently updated my KCD to the alpha patch 0.2. That update was 2.2 GB and i am extremely impressed about the upgrades made already too the game. It’ll be easier to make a list for you chaps so this is what i think you’ve done very well.
Pros-
-Hair (extremely better especially on Henry,Blacksmith and shopkeeper)
-Graphics (i can see a difference with distance views and on terrain texture)
-New hut in the forest (seems very alchemy :P)
-Floating people bug is unseen (by me anyway)
-New Animations (door was impressive and always made connection to the actual door)
-Alchemy (issue(s) will be posted below but overall very good)
-Alchemy animations (i like how you can actually see the items go into the pot)
-Map (looks nice)
-Swearing (lots of games are scared of this)

They’re very impressive but there still are some bugs that I have experienced (Nvidia GTX 760) (game settings Very High) (Average 30 FPS)

  • I seem not too be able to exit alchemy (wont let me quit the task)
-This isn’t a bug but it seems a bit hard for people coming into the update to currently find the alchemy set multiple markers on compass can be confusing
-Camera still goes all over the place when in chat dialogue (understandable as its only alpha)
    -Sound issues (see following post:

-Sometimes the tutorial doesn’t work with alchemy i found myself stuck without knowing what to do (the woman said ill talk you through it and when i approached the bench nothing happened)
-Not a bug Coal seems to be hard to fine near the blacksmith as one rogue coal goes under some wood lol (may be just me )
-Flickering (graphic wise see thread about it in forums named : Weird white shapes)
-Weird table missing bug on alchemy area (McWonderBeast has a post below)
-Not a bug but Jerry? thats not really a name that i recall was apart of the holy roman empire XD

An idea
Maybe to gain the coal you have to wait for the blacksmith to leave and steal it of the fire when he isnt around/looking it would add some cheek to Henry

The Quest itself-
Very nice, chat dialogues are well made and provide options to your characters strength and charisma. At the moment it does follow every dialogue i select. I like how it turned into a mystery about the Inn Keeper. It’d be nice to have an easier way to find herbs (maybe a glow over the plant/herb). I like the fact that it DIDN’T make a reference too magic so very well done lads very well done.

That’s actually all iv’e found at the moment but iv’e only played 30 mins i will add more as i discover bugs on this topic

Anyway, At the moment its still more finished then Assassins Creed Unity was when it was released…

My personal bug list will be updated in future

My Regards

This is the alchemy update, you are not supposed to quit it! :stuck_out_tongue:

And I too want to fish :frowning:

Mr Vavra Let us Fish! its human rights!

I really really like the update and what has been added. I didn’t play much and basically just paid attention to the soundscape for which I noticed some unusual behavior:

The puddle makes some noise (YAY!), but only two or three different sounds. Especially the deep plunk is annoying, if you just move a little bit.

One sheep makes two very differently pitched bleat sounds in a short timeframe. Didn’t sound natural to me.

Sometimes female characters (like the innkeeper) just walks, but the sound that is played is running. One question to your sound guy: Streamed soundfile?

The hammering sound of the blacksmith is sometimes cutting off at the end, like the reverb of the noise gets choked. Same question here: Streamed soundfile? Why not using one-shots without a gate at all?

Some non-audio related stuff:

invisible nettle in one of the puddles
hard to find / identify herbs and if you stand in an area where you can pickup the herb you don’t actually see which plant it is that you’re picking

yep added the sound reference to the list and ill direct people to your topic about herb picking

I edited this a little bit. The more posts we get in this thread, the less likely people we see the post you’re referring to

 lol, okay now im going to fill in this post with 20 characters

where is the change log list?

Just spent a good three hours on the 0.2 update. Very impressed as well.

I had to restart due to not being able to find the innkeeper before finishing the detective job, and decided to skip the whole “talk to the herb lady” bit of the quest. The alchemy book did not have the recipe for making the antidote, however, I remembered the ingredients and order, so I just made it by hand.

Then I get this message: “Looky here! You figured it out on your own! Good job, dude!” (paraphrased) and it just showed up in the recipe book. That’s a really cool feature, I think. You don’t have to go re-do the entire quest, you don’t need all the ingredients she asks for, and don’t have to pay her the 3 coins, so long as you can remember it.

However, I forgot to memorize the recipe for the Archer’s potion, so I’ll have to go back to that and test it out.

I do like the archery mini-game increasing your stats. It’s a very noticeable difference between 10 strength and 20 (where it stopped giving me points) in the amount of wobble in the bow. It’s really cool that they’re showing you how your skills progressing will change your abilities. It wasn’t extremely noticeable between each level, but then you start again, and you realize just how much of a difference it made.

I can’t explain just how excited I am about this game.

Lol I have missed a few updates I oughta fire this up and play. Alchemy sounds fun.

yep there’s a lot of content, general improvements and a huge optimization boost. i’ve never seen this much work done in two months. kcd pisses on all those big name publishers.

Interesting that you see better optimization. For me the game runs around 10-15 fps slower now (on high settings). Other than that, great improvement. Hair looks very nice, alchemy is pretty good. Only major issues I have are with the map, that is often flickering. Apart from that some bugs from 0.1 persist, such as camera angles.

I would be interested to hear what you think about the quest itself. There are multiple solutions, its affected by different stats etc. Do you like dialogues? Do you like different options how to play it?

I think the quest was fantastic, but a thing I would like to have is a little sort of “notebook” on the side that would update with known info as you play the quest. For example when you find some rotten meat in the farmers storage, you would get some text written down that says “I found some meat in the farmers storage, doesn’t look good.”.

I played the game and it was very smooth at first. But then my computers fan went completely freaking insane and was super loud, I saw my screen and it turned black and my desktop couldnt work. I tried everything to fix it but had to quickly unplug my pc for it blew up.

So… yea still fun game

yep, they’re good. and it’s a nice to finally experience dialog choices you cannot take back with the food poisoning quest line.
though i wish i could have the option to still give him the antidote anyway. and it seems his wife his purposely trying to poison him, that’s just my impression. maybe report her to the bailiff
I second this idea. I loved the way this was implemented in Divinity: Original Sin:

While not a problem for the current alpha, with a system like this (image) it is very easy to get back to some quest you picked up 20+ hours before. Reading a journal reminds one of the details.

There is going to be quest log on the empty space next to objectives. Objectives are also buggy so far and there are no quest marks on the map. All this is going to be fixed. The quest might get broken some times, it was planned that you will be able to give him the cure anyway.
