NDA: Alpha, what can we share?

Answer is probably obvious, but I’m not a bright guy:) So what is the restriction on the information sharing on the upcomming alpha releases? Can we freely post videos of it on Youtube? Can we discuss it freely here on the forums? If not, will there be an alpha/beta section on the forums?

The answer is yes. You can share whatever you want, if you specify that the video is from alpha version and thus it is not related to final version of the game.

I assume this is largely due to Warhorse being pretty open already with showing some of what’s being worked on, and the more people share the more word-of-mouth it helps generate?

Though, it’s considerably different from some sort of MMO that allows early access but tells people they can’t talk about any of it.

We believe, that our backers can understand, that alpha version is not finished game and cannot be judged as a final product. We want to share the alpha with you, who already supported us, to share our vision and ideas and find solutions for unresolved design questions. We are looking forward to alpha release, what about you :-)?

Oh, I agree. It’s a better point of view than many others take, though there are always different reasons to take into account. I’m looking forward to it.

Looking forward to? Hell yes.
For me personally it would be awesome if the alpha would be out by the time of the gamescom weekend (13. - 17. August) since I took off during that time.

Speaking of gamescom, is there anything planned for E3 and/or gamescom?

We dont go to E3 this year and we dont plan to present our game to public on Gamescom. Alpha would be nice, but I dont think we can make it…

Too bad. But I waited years to get my hands on a game like this, so a few months won’t matter.

Ahh fantastic! Although with only a radeon hd 5830 I’m probably not going to be able to record a single frame of KD:C without my computer bursting into to flames

Would the devs like some of us with alpha access to do bug reports? I would definitely be happy to help, though I would need a bit of training, I have only done bug reporting for automotive software.

bug report and feedback is going to help obviously. we are like free q/a. don’t be lazy on that obligation

i just hope there are no losers among us going to troll alpha build with bad criticism

Probably not since they have aldready paid for the game  Bug reports are probably meant to be sent in in later betas. If there are bugs in the alpha Warhorse probably already know of them but are more focused on adding content.

I think that alpha is not for reporting common bugs.In alpha we should test some of the core mechanics and give devs feedback what are we think about managing the inventory, taking/tracking quests and so on rather than “this item is clipping through the wall and that npc is not moving”.

IIRC there will not be quests in the alpha. I believe it’s more just a case of “here’s an area, go run around in it.”

The good thing -is that we can be testers and be expected to augment in house Q&A if given the chance. I personally would very much like to have that ability to not only help in that area but actually shape the game play as well.

I know that some things wont change because of designer vision (ie dragons) but with feedback and communication between the devs and us that we really can do something fantastic. (not advocating dragons just saying it wont happen)

I do hope that it doesnt get “too big to fail” whereby that above idea becomes taboo and that what gets released must be polished and stand alone.

We are here, we are your community - use us.

Can’t help but read the last line in an erotic voice. Also I wonder if Warhorse goal is to make it as it usually goes that it makes a ton of sales at the release date, or if they just use the money they will get from “pre-backers” and assume that’s the amount of people that will play

Feedback will be appreciated, the idea with bug reporting is interesting, but it would be more about the general topics as mentioned above. Of course we would like to kill the bugs also in alpha, because more and more people would like to play it and we will add some content on regular basis to alpha also.

I’m loving to listen that. I think that the bug reporting is good although the opinions and feedback about the feeling on the alpha are better.

By the way, When do the alpha’s release?

September/October this year.

Well I’ll chime in that I’m happy to give constructive reviews of the content in alpha hopefully aiding the developers mold the greatest RPG ever. Playing alpha is certainly one of the reasons I pledged the level I did. Watching the last update video (#6) has me eager to test out that archery mechanic Dan was showing!

It’s going to be a long summer waiting for the alpha to roll out.
