Well…we could have all started this a little better
Some people seem to be really allergic against critique. Sometimes critique is valid, sometimes it isn’t. That’s in the nature of critique. Either way there is no reason to freak out about it or to insult.
In this case I thought that medieval armies would fight in formation, even in skirmishes. There is a scene where you can see Henry fight in the large battle, but I forgot where. And I got the impression that there was no formation.

Of course there is always a formation before the battle, even in Hollywood movies. But I mean when the armies clash, the formation apparently dissolves more or less.

we’ve all been there before I was looking at an earlier thread that said that the large battles would be mostly scripted and there wouldn’t be hundreds of NPCs fighting…I really hope that isn’t true
Are you seriously drawing conclusions as to how the large scale battles going to look like from 4 years old kickstarter trailer?!
No one drawing anything. We just reminding about the large scale battles being shown long time ago. And how they looked “almost”. Just read comments above that.
You could say large scale battles haven’t been shown at all. Those vids above were cut scenes and 3rd person views which needn’t reflect the actual in-game battle experience at all…
It is ok to be happy about a game. What seems totally weird to me, are people like you sir. People who gets all mad and overly defensive about that game. It is kinda sad, that some people do not have the possibility to actually voice criticism about A GAME, without being verbally abused by SA like people. It is a game and an opinion on a game! Not something you have to valiantly defend. Just saying! 
I mean he is also free to argue/comment that we don’t really have any footage of a massive engagement. However, what is a large/massive engagement is everyone’s individual call.
I would class what we have seen thus for or at least what I have seen as small skirmishes and seeing them breaking down to man to man is sort of what i’d expect. I know Battle of Nations isn’t a great example but they turn into brawl’s. I would suggest if the battle was 100’s strong then yes formations would likely be more solid but that is because you would have units made of trained soldiers.
We see battles made of guardsman or militia, are they going to be strict enough not to break formation during a melee ?
These are all considerations we need to make and honestly, we need more footage before we can gain a solid understanding. I personally view the current combat to be within the realms of realism from what we can honestly perceive should happen based on historical accounts because none of us have ever seen a real medieval battle.
