No front line?

This is a general thing that you see in almost every movie and game;
Two armies facing each other in formation, clashing, and suddenly all formation breaks apart and everyone is fighting in duels. From what I know that normally never happened. Usually only the front lines of the armies would fight each other.

It seems Kingdom Come: Deliverance didn’t get that right unfortunately.
For example in this video:
They advance towards the enemy in formation, but when they clash with the enemy all formation breaks apart and everyone is fighting in duels.

Are you a leftist by chance? You seem to have a knack for creating issues where there are none.

It is just a skirmish not a large battle, what are you complaining about? Besides you can clearly see in some gameplay videos that lines do form kinda, probably what has sparked some people to complain about ai being too passive.

If I’m confronted with evidence that disproves me I’m happy to admit that I was wrong. But so far you haven’t done that.

And no, I’m neither left nor right nor anything else on the political spectrum. I’m a voluntaryist.

Disaproves what? Here is a newsflash - the entire combat system in this game is built on 1v1 confrontations, how do you propose formation fighting to function in that framework? Yet your claim that the fighting breaks down do 1v1 fights exclusively, is a blatant lie, you can see the AI helping each other and attacking the same enemy from different directions.
One should also keep in mind that this is a small scale surprise attack, the objective is obivously to move through the enemy as fast as possible (maybe to stop them from forming up for a proper defense?), which would IRL lead to a much more disorganized fight.

I also don’t give a damn about your political views, it was meant as a jab at the nature of the threads you’ve been making.

Are you leftist? Seriously, dude? You really couldn’t help yourself to not make a political comment like that on a video game forum. That’s pretty sad and extremely condescending.

Oh right i forgot the cardinal rule: To exist in the current year one must never ever say or do anything that could be percieved as offensive.
I apologize for my microagression and wholeheartedly support the plans to make this forum a safe space for everybody!

Maybe try not making such bold assumptions which have absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. Gonna bust out the stereotypical “special snowflake” insult next? Grow up, bud.

Maybe learn how to not take things so literally.

Just like in the medieval times or right wings beliefs…

Did I miss something? Reads through topic…bwahaha!

Did you link the wrong video, OP? Because the part you linked to clearly shows the group of soldiers sticking together in a line in the encounters, with only the player running forward. Are you proposing the player not be allowed to break ranks? The line formation isn’t perfectly straight like a line battle from the Napoleonic era would be, but it’s a very small skirmish with enemies flanking, making a perfectly straight, 5-man-wide line a ludicrous proposal. The narrator even clearly says “they’re coming from all sides” and “you’d need eyes in the back of your head”. In a small skirmish like this, it makes far more sense to try to flank an enemy than to hold a tight phalanx of a few men. They’re also clearly not just fighting in duels, with people switching between opponents and fighting multiple opponents.

Honestly, I’m going to have to agree with kuri - this seems like a post intended purely to sew discord (or troll).

Ask and it shall be done.
The nonsense posts about fire arrows never being used in battle. No proof, so not true.

Then this nonsense about sneaky

And then this nonsense about there not being a front line in real life. No proof so not true.
No need for a link, we are already there.

Whait. No proof that fire arrows weren’t used in battle?
I linked a video about that. Just watch the video.

Look at what you have created! Kingdom-Come-Deliverance-Tom-McKay-Gaming-Cypher

Love those big dots in his eyes. :smirk:

From the evidence you provided it was a small skirmish.

From that. what on earth makes you think they got it wrong NOT having rigid formations in the skirmish example provided? They’re not Roman legionaries.

Where is your evidence that the larger battles play out the same .
