Hello i played this game at release already for a bit but had to stop because my system couldnt handle it. now i got another shot at it this week when i have holiday and restarted on hardcore.
But after playing for around 20+h i noticed that i havent met anyway on the roads except some wayfarer here and there and 2bandits below rattay along the river. i remember back then i constantly met people on the road like bandits, knights, someone who accuses me of murder etc. is there any way i can fix this because its a bit boring to ride from a to b without anything happening on the road

Well, there are certainly all types of encounters in hardcore mode.
I think they just tweaked the frequency of these events in the last few patches.
The random encounters have the same frequency, but they have added one encounter which I still didn’t see it.
I still have no random encounters. Only ever had them on patch 1.4 I think it was
That’s very strange… PC user? Test the roundtrip from Rattay mill to Sasau through Ledetsko using roads, and check if you see any encounter (it’s statistics, you might need few tests).
Ps4 and pc. I’ve tried many times both fast travel and doing it myself I have 700 hours in game and only ever had 3 encounters in patch 1.4
I did this yesterday and had a whole group of bandit rabble, just when the forest after Ledetchko begins.
Hc mode on ps4
Bandits in bushes
Battles between different groups
Corpses
Dead animals
Beggars
Played 70 hrs in hardcore mode, have seen every type
But yes, they’ve changed frequencies - battles between bandits/robber knights/guards are happening WAY more often, and other encounters are just normal. Bohemia now feels like a war-torn land indeed
Also saw some weird crap - after I helped guards with bandits in another battle, they accused me of murder and wanted to put me in jail. And I didn’t even kill any of those bandits because I’ve been doing Merciful run and punched them with fists, and I checked statistics to be sure. I ignored their accusations and ran away and just nothing happened afterwards… no bounty in any of towns, no rep drops. What was that, corrupted bandit guards intimidating people, or just a bug?

Are you still playing with Patch 1.4? There was a great bug (files corruption while updating) and they instantly made patch 1.4.1. I have tested it on PC for patch 1.4.3, 1.5 and 1.6 and random encounters do work.
Can’t say about hardcore, still couldn’t play it that much. The strange thing is that random_event.xml has the same base chances and cooldowns from 1.5 to 1.6, but adding night variables and another encounter which I still haven’t found. I don’t know how they tweak the variables for Hardcore mode (on-the-fly adjustment?.. rpg_param.xml is also the same except two variables from 1.5 to 1.6…), I’ll pay attention to encounters when starting Hardcore playthrough.
Happened the same as well to me when being falsely accused by NPCs. Nothing happened afterwards, despite ignoring it… They still need to tweak and improve many aspects… I’m worried that DLCs would take too much manpower and ending with unpolished game at the end… I really hope I’m mistaken and they shut my mouth with adding all the missing content/gameplay (as Vavra wanted to) and polishing inconsistencies/bugs.

If you have done the same round trip several times and haven’t seen any encounter for hours, there might a bug. You should report it to Warhorse, can’t say much.

Xbone 1.6 HC mode
No random encounters for me yet but to be fair I just got started and done talking to Jakub in the Neuhoff mission line. Trying to grind to end of Questions and Answers to get Master Huntsman cottage and the new Pribyslavitz DLC going and then just sandbox my playthough
I WANT YOU TO KNOW IM HAVEING THE SAME ISSUE, b4 1.6 in 1.4 -1.5 i had random encounters of every type. they worked fine after they fixed it. Now all i encounter is bandits and cumans, thats it, only them . im about 40 hours in my hardcore play through. im pretty sure there broken again. or just for some people and not everyone since theres not 73 threads on it.
i would also like to know what platform your playing on and if you use any mods.
To be clear, if anyone is using mods related to random encounters which are outdated/not compatible with KCD v.1.6, there is a probability that you’ll miss some of them, if not all, as the files have changed… If using mods compatible with KCD v.1.6, there shouldn’t be any problem unless there’s an internal game bug occurring.
Another thing is Hardcore, which doesn’t have specific files per se, as far as I’m concerned. The issue might be here…
Xbox One v1.6 HC play through just talking to Radzig during Ginger in a Pickle. So not a whole lot of opportunity but did do some road travels going from camp to camp looking for tips to where Ginger was and I saw roaming NPCs but no encounters(they were all just villagers I could pick pocket or knock out, no dialogue or wandering knights or mercs or anything yet)
So far I’ve seen one female beggar who I passed up and I found one villager/peasnant/weak bandit ambush that I saw a guy crouching so I just ambushed the ambush…no mercenaries or wandering knight(?) yet…just over 20 hours in game, just got done with Baptism of Fire
