The Game is not out there

Hey Folks,

Without bashing or anything, whenever i try to check on News about the Game i go to their Youtube channel. The last Video i saw, was the livestream 2 month ago. If Warhorse Studios decided to use other channels to communicate, please let me know.

I kinda dont understand how the Studio is operating. Type into Google “Kingdom Come: Deliverance” this might Change on demographic differences of course but, it doesnt bring up the Games Website. Yes, you can type in “Warhorse Studios” and first hit is the Studios Website, but the average Gamer whos interested wont look for the Studio developing the Game.

Youtube IS important aswell as Gaming websites covering your stuff etc. etc… Yes, i understand this is all in an early stage, but the Studio Needs the Money for development now. Let People know that this is a Pearl that will unfurl.

Again, iam not trying to Troll or anything, i backed the Game because i want this to be good.

regards
Shaddix

I think you’re making a mountain out of a molehill. This game got the Kickstarter support, it proved the viability to the person funding it, and the shop will happen. It’s very normal - and Dan has posted about this - for things to get very busy immediately after a Kickstarter (successfully) finishes, now that there’s actually stuff to work on and get caught up on.

People need to stop flipping out that there aren’t weekly updates right now.

As far as additional content on YouTube, I think Warhorse has an ample amount of teaser material floating around in the Kickstarter clips to show off what they’re working on and more. Until the game approaches beta I wouldn’t expect any heavy influx of new trailers or game video as there is only so much they can show off during development. Really, showing things as they are coming off the press only spoils what can be a bigger bang with promotions closer to release.

I do share your concern that the game website doesn’t come up when you do a Google search. I would have thought the web traffic would have caused Google to update by now; however, I don’t pretend to really understand what drives what comes up on search engines. It would benefit Warhorse to get in touch with the powers that be to get their website up at the top of the list of returns when one does a search for the game title.

I dont want to cause Drama. But there are fundamental things like the Website. There is no excuse for that. Even the smallest indie dev. has his Website listed and the SEO Setup.

Creating Content generates momentum - there is room for improvement. With all respect to Dan and You - Its not normal.

Hello MJJ,

iam concerned they run out of Money soon to be honest. They banked in at 1.1mil on Kickstarter i dont know if that is before or after Kickstarters share. I also dont know how much they made by pledging on their own site but i have to assume its not THAT much. Game development is expensive, you have to license Software (Middleware, CAT Software) pay the devs. etc,… Since i or we dont know their financial Situation iam speculating - sure thats true. In a perfect world People would go for Quality and just wait and believe but WH Studios has a somewhat alienated approch selling their game.

For the time being, the Kickstarter project is still front and center when you search for the game, and with an extra click or two you can reach the website.

They may need to get some SEO stuff worked out, but in the meantime it isn’t like their site is lost in the wilderness somewhere.

Wait till the store is up and fully functional first.

that way once the press hits etc they can capitalize on it. Right now they cant. Focus on getting that done first - then start the PR stuff up again.

As of now the extra Interest and PR goes nowhere and people cant buy in. Kinda sucks but once they can then the PR work will be able to pay off. As of right now it would be a waste.

also dont forget that they just had a large turnover recently are are winding back up again. It takes time to get the pieces back together and rolling again. Not to mention getting a larger space for them to work in. It all takes away from the pressing jobs at hand - so there is the inevitable delay.

Yeah. If it’s me, I think getting things sorted first with the staff and studio space kind of comes first. This game is not going to fall off everyone’s radar with it a year and a half away if a couple things take a little extra time to work out right now.

well they did state that kickstarter was to prove to the investor that there was a market for the game. We showed that there is indeed a population supporting that game and because of that the investor will continue to fund the game.

The kickstarter was proof of concept of a gaming population wanting a somewhat niche game. If it did fail the investor would have walked away most likely. But it didnt and they will continue to support and invest in the game.

Kickstarter will usually be on top of every search engine for small kickstarter projects because KS has more users, more views, more clicks than the real project websites. You can only optimize it with lots of effort.

the last update was not so long ago and in this update, you got the information that they’re still working on the KS campaign. Hundreds of emails, interview requests and the forum take a lot of time. Optimizing the SEO settings for nothing doesn’t make sense right now.

There won’t be much publicity. Just remember how Mafia hit the shelves and how it was more like a hidden gem, while GTA was getting millions of sales. It’s a long way to go until the game is finished. And I can tell I get fewer updates from other indie devs.

Beside our YouTube channel we are also on Facebook and Twitter.

I want the store to be up so I can fund it. Missed out on the Kickstarter. :frowning:

No, they don’t need money. They have investor. So no rush there.

  1. Main channel to communicate: Dan’s blog and kickstarter updates.

  2. Website: needs some optimization for Google search and they already know it…

  3. Money: The amount raised on kickstarter was only a small part of the funding. The biggest part come from their private investor. But yes, the shop should open soon.

You do realize that Google finds websites to list based on crawlers, and not from people buying space on the front page, right?

Soon? It’s been a freaking month or more! I am willing to throw some money at this game but so far I can’t.

I think similar than @SHADDIX but I don’t need they constantly make a video. I think it’s important keep informed to backers and followers of the game, though it’s with a screenshots of development or a small recap of progress every month. It’s a easy way to keep the fans happy and informed.

so, for everyone it makes sense to have the site listed but for some reason it doesnt make sense for KCD. Nice to have Kickstarter as a “jump off” Plattform for sure, but again - new fans that should pledge are NOT going to KS.

Even worse if you want to back the game but cant. sorry, just not really a good Thing to have.

Thx Lord ill check Dans Blod.
Those elusive Investors are mentioned a few times already for others Projects. I Keep my opinion about These Investors to myself.
