The Game is not out there

Do you realize that These crawlers are potenially important in the first 4-6 weeks after a Websites has been launched? after that, its search Parameters and hits. It should be in your realm of comprehension (and iam not trying to be offensive) that ALL of a SUDDEN, the Topic with google crawlers Comes up again, there are dozens of indie games with less Budget that managed to get their Website listed on Google.

exactly, you dont have to throw out a cheap wallpaper and what not at me. Give me a Video every 3 Weeks or so to let me know what you guys are up to. i can write a blog but in all honesty moving Pictures are far more interesting. Color me unimpressed about half Czech/english community channel.

Yeah, me too. I missed it buy a measly 3 hours. :frowning:

This is irrational. I am shocked at how many people don’t understand the investor arrangement, or investing in general.

They absolutely should be taking in crowd funds as soon as possible. The investor joined on to help them with hopes that a publisher deal would pay for a large portion of the budget and make the game an even more sizable production. That didn’t happen. In order to stop the investor from cutting the production entirely, which meant not handing over the rest of what he is potentially willing to give, they crowd-funded and proved demand. He was never there to give the entire budget as the sole investor. They were intending to pick up money from another, bigger industry source and it didn’t happen.

They absolutely still need more money because the investor has a specific amount that he has given as budget and that doesn’t mean they get to just spend freely from now on. They didn’t get any other boost to the budget besides us, so they definitely want more of us to keep the production growing in the direction they had first hoped that a publisher would do in cooperation with the investor, as I understand folks.

The investor (and contrary to what some seem to think, it’s not vital we know the name of the investor right now) agreed to fund this the rest of the way if the Kickstarter project met its goal.

We all know how far the project blew past that goal.

Per that agreement, the game will be funded. That doesn’t mean more money from gamers won’t help. Of course anything extra can go into whatever they decide it should be used for. But, this is not a matter of the game being in danger. There has never been a single indication I’ve seen that suggests they can’t make the game they want to with what the investor has agreed to spend.

I don’t know where people are getting a different impression of this, and I don’t know why some of you can’t be patient. The shop will open when they’ve worked out the things they need to in order to make it available. Continuing to complain about it and demanding various things is not going to make it happen any faster.

It isn’t that the game won’t get made. It’s that it isn’t being made to the scale they considered making it to when a publisher deal was in the realm of possibility. They could use more money, for sure. They didn’t even hit the last stretch goal from Kickstarter yet and it isn’t like they are targeting wild concepts to add. They are trying their hardest to get things that we are already used to seeing in most games of this quality.

Wait, you’re making a point about not hitting a final stretch goal they added in the last day or so of the project after they hit the million pound mark of a campaign they were hoping to gain 300,000 pounds from? Really?

People are assuming a whole lot if they’re acting like Warhorse is going to be forced to make some stripped-down game of some kind because the shop isn’t open yet, and that’s the impression I’m starting to get from some. Just because a big publisher hasn’t signed on to throw unlimited millions at them doesn’t mean they can’t make the game they want to make.

Edit: and if you mean they haven’t hit that goal since the Kickstarter project ended
well, no kidding. The shop’s not open! And now you’re acting as if stuff like the dog companion, tournament mode and other stretch goals are things they put a lot of effort into adding when you have to remember they weren’t even things they had planned. They were things they decided to offer as simple additions once donations went well beyond what they were asking for. There’s a bit of a difference between “this is something we’re used to seeing in a game” and “this is something we didn’t plan on adding but now we will.” Most of those stretch goals will just make the game even better than it was already shaping up to be, and none of them significantly changes things except, maybe, for better performance motion capture.

okay so its pretty obvious you don’t understand how Google works, not to mention that you are incorrect in your original post, as I just now went to Google and when you search ‘Deliverance’ it is the 6th result (amazing considering the thousands of uses of the word), the first result under Kingdom Come (again, there was a movie that got decent ratings with the same name that it beat out) and all the top results when searching warhorse studios which leads to all the things you ‘couldn’t find’, including their website, wikipedia, youtube, reddit page, twitter, and facebook pages.

First of all, Google search is personalized, so my search results are not your search results.

So my results are as follows

Deliverance: kickstarter is third, kingdomcomerpg.com did not make it to the top 50
Kingdom Come: kickstarter is first, czech fansite is in the top 10, the Star Citizen blog is in top 20, official site did not make it to top 100 (!)

Hype curve

A game published the way KD:C is has to impress four times. First at announcement/kickstarter, then at alfa, then at beta and finally at release. Since we are all probably going to get disillusioned from alpha anyway, letting the game fade off the radars and try to resurface with it later and make a splash again is probably a better strategy than releasing incremental progress updates which taken individually will not impress anyone.

well that would be a great argument if i didnt just do that google search from a university lab computer that has a deepfreeze hard drive that has exactly nothing of my search history on it, so therefore is a search that has NO PARAMETERS and NO FILTER BUBBLE. Second, how would YOU be able to keep your own history off of the google search you did? Also, pasting a wikipedia article just proves that I was right in guessing you personally didnt understand how google works, especially since a Filter Bubble is a theoretical construct; for example from your own article “Analyst Jacob Weisberg writing in Slate Magazine did a small non-scientific experiment to test Pariser’s theory which involved five associates with different ideological backgrounds conducting exactly the same search—the results of all five search queries were nearly identical across four different searches, suggesting that a filter bubble was not in effect”

Hm, something tells me that you criticize Warhorse but at the same time have no idea about the project and its parameters

The kickstarter campaign was intially just a way to prove their private investor/shareholder that there is enough demand for a game like that. Collecting money from fans was just the secondary goal tbh.

And there are tons of other kickstarter projects out there with only one or two updates a month after the campaign. That’s nothing special and everyone has a different approach for the frequency and sort of updates and stuff.
And first you shouldn’t forget that video updates are somewhat time consuming. Time they could also use for developing the game.
Second, they still look for a community manager who is responsible for more intensive communication with the fans and backers (you can check it in their careers page). At the moment they just lack the right people and time for that but I hope it will change soon as well.
Third, Warhorse and the people in charge there are no “classical” indie developers who are used to talk and interact with fans directly. They were purely publisher-driven developers so far, not connected with direct fan contact. We should give them time to get used to their new position as independant developer with much more freedom but also much more responsibility. It’s not as easy as you might think to find the golden route how to interact with the public without making serious mistakes (showing/promising too much or too little, loosing too much time or investing too little, coordination between development, financials and communication/marketing,
)

the Games Website does not show up for me when i type in the Games name. Results are pretty Close to Bebuce’s. They ARE Aware of that so have i been told, right? Shop is still not open. I didnt even know that when i started posting. Yes things thake time and i know These guys had to start somewhere, nothing is perfect etc. The whole Point is, to Point out, that some things are just not right. Dont search for excuses for why or why not, the Website isnt listed and the Shop not open. Dont defend the Studio as this is not an attack. Neither is it to the users here.

Location, location, location. And users language sent in the HTTP request. The “users become separated from information that disagrees with their viewpoints” part of the Wikipedia article is sure theoretical and more a Facebook thing, I give you that. But wait, Google Maps Shows Crimea As Russian To Russians! And less controversially, it makes pure utilitarian sense to show different results to a Czech and to an American, just simply because one is Czech and the other is American. I do not buy my groceries in Target, but in Tesco or Brněnka. I care what is on the front page of HospodaƙskĂ© noviny, not in The New York Times. Americans have Madonna, our controversial singer is Iveta BartoĆĄovĂĄ.

I haven’t tried, because that would be pointless. There is not anything like an objective Google query. It is always being framed by who is making it.

Since you cited some dubious guy doing some dubious one shot experiment, I will also cite some guy making an observation that supports my claims. And my guy (Paul Graham) has more money than your guy, so he is more relevant.

] lately when using Google search I’ve found myself nostalgic for the old days, when Google was true to its own slightly aspy self. Google used to give me a page of the right answers, fast, with no clutter. Now the results seem inspired by the Scientologist principle that what’s true is what’s true for you.

I’m glad you know it better than anyone else. Wait, no, you don’t! Please read some info about this game financing at first.

yep you got me. searching from ohio makes this czech game much more likely to appear. foiled again!

I just love that someone telling you that you don’t need to worry because the game is in fact easy to find out there makes you go on a rampage. Even cuter that you called your friend to back you up. Well done, sirs.

I think a few people need to re-familiarize themselves with this update from Apr. 2.

Obviously things aren’t where they need to be yet with the shop situation, but it’s clear the team has a plan of action and even if they update things once a month, it’s been almost exactly two months since the end of the Kickstarter phase and they’re working hard on things.

sure, i can find it when i go to KS or click through other sites covering the game and having the Gamesites Link. I dont see the Point in denying that the Link to KCD should be listed properly. There is simply nothing to argue about. You instigate that i called in a friend to back me up? I have no “friend” here, there are People that might share a similar view. Where is the rampage you are talking about, i stand my ground in saying that some fundamental things are just not right. Not very well played Sir.

I dont know about Ohio, but here from Austria which is a neighbouring country to Czech Republic, it doesn’t show. i can record a Video how i type it into Google if that makes it more believable for you.

Hey Flashfire,
thanks for the Link, i like the inside look on how their Business plan could unfold and their open Letter to the community. pretty awesome. But its kinda hard to say “Thank you” since you might be accused being my friend
