The insane console pop in (PS4)

The pop in on ps4 is crazy. I see whole buildings pop in infront of me. Whole city walls pop infront of me. Pretty much everything that spawns, pops in infront of me.

are you fast traveling to locations when this happens or do you ride around the map?
I’m on Xbox one playing on hardcore where you cannot fast travel and there are small graphic issues but whole buildings missing is not a thing. The bridge on the north side of Rattay pops in some times and some times the combat arena as well but thats about it for me.

I’m playing the game on a standard PS4 and, as much as it costs me to say it, pop in is an issue. It’s probably the only real technical issue that I can say detracts from the overall experience. I’ve learned to live with it, and try not to be bothered, but it’s an occurrence. Curiously, it’s not that big of a deal in outside areas, like the magnificent sprawling landscapes or even forests. The real problem is inside towns. Rattay for me seems to be the most severe case. If you enter the town fast riding your horse, stuff will be popping in downtown Rattay for several seconds.
The game is so good in all other aspects. If they found a way to reduce this issue, it would be mostly appreciated.

that sucks, I used to have that problem a while ago but it’s not terrible now. I get some lack graphics on the sides of building but thats about it
except for the bridge on the Norther side and the combat arena up there

Would love to see evidence of this on the latest patch. This bug was happening in 1.3 I believe but should be fixed now.

You are correct Kirksty, it was fixed and all was nice and dandy in 1.5
Then 1.6 came and with it, tons of graphical issues like the poppins mentioned, clippings with Henry’s armour layers and the new famous “no dirt or blood bug”.

I play mostly on PS4-pro but have also tried on my original PS4 and the house and objects poppins are real and really bad. As I said, 1.5 was great in more or less every way but the 1.6 broke many graphical things with the game.

I’ve bought the game about a week ago. It was a new game after a fresh install on my PS4, with the latest update to version 1.6. So it’s not due to conflict with previous versions, or something like that.
The fact that the previous version was better regarding this specific issue gives me hope. Maybe this is something they can fix once more. It really is the only issue that detracts from the experience, because I am truly loving the game.

Im not racist and so I dont see the ‘halforc’ side of Steve
but the lost above asking ‘do you fast travel’ is so vital

Since game start my family never fast traveled.
For months we would read about the troubles everyone else was having.
What was wrong with our version that just kept working? Was it some magical future version sent back in time to work
(i installed it from a black starry thumbdrive like shown in the end of the movie ‘lucy’)
Morgan Freeman gave it to me so it must be good

Of couse I am joking
but true- my gameplay experience was just too perfect vs what a ‘majority’ seemed to be experiencing.

After a fast travel the game has to rebuild the world it is showing
without reference to what direction the player is travelling in
how can it cache ahead if it foesnt know what direction to focus on
at the same time as having to access large texture pools and map them onto models

Right after a fast travel, system has to work ‘very hard’.

At the pace henry travels (especially on foot), the world should be unfolded before we get there

Sounds like bridge and combat courtyard in rattay have a few hiccups to sort out, although it might just be machines getting caught up in some broken model or texture prior to those areas and having not bounced back is working extra hard to ‘catchup’

Pop in is definitely a thing, and probably always will be
especially if you fast travel. It just comes to the question of how much you experience. Don’t be smug

The same on you are bro, he’s telling ya
you guys are lying about your experience for attention

It doesn’t matter if you fast travel or not there is always pop in.

Oh yeah because MANY OTHER open world games dont fix the issue. I think the cry engine sucks. Every game that uses that engine always has a buggy experience or other issues like pop in. Cry tech seems to be the only ones who can get it to work well.

Right, and they’re leagues worse if you don’t. If you walk, which no one should have to do, from Rattay Mill to the City you probably wouldn’t experience it thaaaat bad.

I play on HC mode so I can’t fast travel, I have pop ins but it is pretty much just the combat arena and bridge to the Norther entrance of Rattay
small texture stuff on building sides and some times the stockade in lower Rattay pops in but it isn’t nearly as terrible as on my previous files when fast traveling as the game has to load everything once your character drops in.

I’m not disagreeing with you, just that some is worse than other and I doubt anyone is experiencing absolutely none.

hopefully they’ll learn from their mistakes and change some partnerships up if they’re not tied into contracts.

You do know cry engine is free? Or last I heard.

Didn’t know, that actually makes more sense I suppose. Well, in that case, hopefully they can afford a better option?

Either way, I think it’s an honest first attempt at something this ambitious. I should only get better I would think, unless they completely packed everything up and just cashed in

Unreal engine is free and im pretty sure its better.

I’ll admit I’m not sure. I’ll also say I’d like to think if they’re having problem with this, and it’s free, and there are better options that are also free hopefully they’ll switch it up between title releases.
