Yes but that’s not how it’s ment to work or that’s not how it’s been explained to work. It’s not a glitch I’m pretty sure on that because with the history of this game if it was a glitch then a patch would have screwed it up massively just like most of the others the game has suffered. I honestly thing the way the ai has been coded they all have the same fighting and defence attack stats and the only difference in value between them or not is the armor they wear etc
100% that has been done extremely well and again it shows when you fire a arrow. But the ncps hmmmm there not right
Not sure. Think Pribyslavitz veteran is a cut above the rest
Sword slashing was implemented so differently. The difference between the slash of the Skalitz cutscene vs my first melee battle … nearly mind blowing
If intentional, think WH did it for playability. To me, WH should’ve front loaded and expanded weapons training… and given you more similarly pathetic technique using peasant ambushers
Yes but his ai is coded different to everyone else you fight in the game. His has been turned up a little. It’s still not hard to beat him but it takes awhile for your skill to improve in yourself not the game and to get to know how he moves and fights etc. But he’s not someone you run into all the time. Now imagine if when they coded his ai they somehow reset all other enemy ai to copy his. Meaning his ai would be the default. That’s pretty much what they’ve have done with all enemys. It’s like the plated bandit who is a professional solider should be the hardest common enemy in the game that you encounter. And he is. But only because of his armor etc. Not because of his skill. Or strength or warfare. That shows you all enemy have the same ai coding
If the enemy is scaling with you then it means the windows for perfect blocks and master strikes would stay constant because you are both increasing in defense and warfare in tandem
The window shouldn’t even be open in the beginning. To use a martial arts analogy, there isn’t a single non black belt taekwondo practionioner that’s going to pull off a tornado kick to the head during a sparring match. Similarly, Henry and the peasants shouldn’t have any more than a lottery’s chance of pulling off the master strike/perfect block etc in the beginning
If one wants practical design, perks should be to enabled through experience of performing good blocks/strikes. And then, one should be able to spend a perk point to increase the chance of master/perfect move.
Peasants shouldnt develop in tandem with Henry. That’s wrong at several levels.
Out of curiosity, did you get the “failed to learn skill” error window during your playthroughs? I usually got those around halfway and may be related to some skill glitch
I’ve noticed that the AI will only get super defensive in bursts, then forget to block. The animations don’t even sync up right and the AI instantly performs the master strike no matter the direction
Yes this is when you see the difference in enemys if it’s a peasant bandit you normally at that point kill them 1 hit
I’ll teach you something that DOES work.
Holding down left mouse positions the sword. Release the button - you strike.
Get your opponents one-on-one. Lure them away if you can.
strafe and keep shifting the position of your sword so that you can block a strike from his weapon.
Make sure you never go too low on stamina. It is when your opponent strikes you beyond lowest stamina that you take damage.
When you see the green shield. tap Q to block. Immediately release the left mouse to slash. Or click and release the right button to stab.
Learn the combos. They are shown with drawings in your combat skill list.
Frantically left clicking only serves to tire you out. You want to tire your opponent. You want to block as many of his strikes as you can and riposte every time.
A sword fight is all about waiting for the right moment to strike. You will learn tripple strikes as you get better.
Master strikes and great quick-riposts is waiting for you.
The above is what works for me in a sword fight.
For more than one opponent I use the bow and keep backing away as I try to hit their faces.
One well positioned arrow can ruin his attempt at striking. I then shift hit them so that they never get the chance to really hit me.
Again… DO NOT run out of stamina.
Don’t know if it will serve you, but it serves me well enough. Took down an eight man camp just before I went on the forum. Well pleased with myself I might add.
I once killed off 7 man camp. Shortly after I found another but died. I had to replay everything. This moment made me stronger. I learned when I’m losing and it’s time to retreat or better prepare myself in advance. Luring single opponents is essential. Sometimes good hit in the head solves difficult opponent. I finally reached maximum fencing but only few levels in actual weapon proficiency and it’s easy to just push around opponents who are weaker and then just hit them few times.
Don’t want to learn just want their hands held all the way through.
Weird I learned how to fight and defend in the tutorial as well as learned the enemy will defend against attacks and adapt to your attacks.
There’s plenty of good advices in this forum that definitely work, I can tell for my own experience.
I got the game since day one (backer) but delayed starting a real playthrough because of the bugs. I started actually playing seriously with 1.5, and during that time, besides playing other stuff, I constantly read the forums because the little I played with 1.1 made me realize this was going to be a challenging game. I learned a lot about combat and skills here, and when started my current playthrough I was ready. My experience with combat and other game mechanics has been great: chalenging at first, rewarding later. Now I kick ass in almost everything, even though I’m not a particularly gifted gamer.
Oh, but the OP has some points about combat AI (lowly robbers performing masterstrikes feels odd).
