Correct me if i’m wrong but rpgs are horrible for taking out armor. They bounce off Abrams and other armor the U.S has. But fighting against people with no tanks or heavy vehicles i could see its value.

The U.S navy is developing this new laser cannon which is extremely cheap compared to a missile. It only costs around 1 dollar to fire how ever it is extremely new and probably wont be very effective against larger targets for a long time.
Not much use to the average front line soldier though . I would imagine the maintence bill would be insane though

Could be although the whole point of this is to make a cost effective weapon that performs really well. It doesn’t run out of ammo and it costs around 1 dollar to fire vs thousands and thousands for a cruise missile. The militaries funding is being cut like no tomorrow so they’re having to get creative.

Well also developed our own carrier killer missile so i would say we are progressing in military tech just as much as Russia and China. Although we need to stop giving the fucking Ukraine army equipment. They just run away and leave and now the rebels are running around with our shit including some extremely advanced mortars, some humvees and others. Now they wan’t to give them Abrams and what will end up happening is they will capture them and sell them to Russia so they can reverse engineer the armor on it.

Yes and its extremely worrying about the Abrams. The armor on them is the best is the world and its still classified what its made out of completely. If the rebels get their hands on one then Russia will know how to make the armor.

but yes the challenger and abrams have the same armour (Chobham armour made in the UK ) but the British variant is newer and a good chunk better but yes all types remain classified so the british wouldnt be to happy with the US if you gave away the secrets to the russians

No the armors different. The m1a1 has depleted Uranium mesh with other materials that are classified. The Abrams is slightly faster and can carry more fuel. The challenger does have longer operational range though. They both have the same sized cannon. I don’t know the armor stats for the challenger because it just said classified so im going to assume its armor is better than the m1a1.
So based on this the m1 Abrams and Challenger 2 seem to be equal although some things they do better than the other. I couldn’t find the stats of the m1a2 Abrams. The m1a2 is the newer tank and ive heard things about the m1a3 Abrams coming into production.
nope the armours are made by the same company . both tanks you chobham but the challenger has the new chobham classified as "Dorchester armour "
You’re thinking of the m1 the m2 probably uses the same armor as the Challenger 2. The m1 is slowly being replaced by the m2 and m3s might enter production soon.
