gets interesting when you compare that to our homicides involving long guns which are legal , unless semi-automatic . the figure for them is 465 between 2001-2008 .
also interesting is that after our last mass shooting which invloved a shotgun and a .22 rifle , they did not go after legal weapons . they increased the penalty for smuggling illegal weapons to life in prison .
Following the mass killings in Cumbria on 2nd June, 2010, Home Secretary Theresa May confirmed that two weapons had been recovered by police, a shotgun and a .22 rifle, and that the gunman, Derrick Bird, had held a shotgun licence since 1995 and a firearms licence (for the .22 rifle) since 2007.
Ms May pledged that when the police had completed their investigations, the Government would lead a debate on the country’s gun laws, engaging with “all interested parties” and allowing MPs to contribute to the debate.
Concerns also continued to increase about the use of illegal firearms by street gangs and organised criminals.
In February 2012, the Home Secretary launched a consultation on strengthening the law in this area, in particular whether the penalty should be increased for illegal importation of firearms and also whether there was a need for a new offence of possession of illegal firearms with intent to supply.
The consultation was set to run for 12 weeks and sought the views of the public, the police, the CPS, victims groups, the judiciary, and voluntary organisations.
In its response to the consultation published in October 2012, the Government stated that it was clear there was “strong support for taking a tougher stance on control of prohibited firearms.”
It had been decided, therefore, to increase the maximum penalty for illegal importation of firearms to life imprisonment and to create a new offence of ‘possession with intent to supply’ . The changes would be implemented as soon as a legislative opportunity arose.
fucking brilliant
Still more murders over all. It’s irrelevant what they’re killed with.
Oddly enough i never see you mention the significant drop in murders and violent crime in the U.S over the past 10-15 years. All of that without banning guns, in fact the murder rate when down after the assault weapons ban expired.
As for mass shootings well, remove gun free zones and you won’t have the problem. Follow Texas’s example, mass shootings always take place in states with heavy fire arms restrictions or areas where CC is not allowed. Movie theatres, schools, military, ect.
Also maybe it’s time to stop giving people drugs where the label says “may cause suicidal or homicidal thoughts”.
Here’s one such example, in fact a lot of mass shooters are on shit like this.
“thoughts of killing oneself”
"use of extreme physical or emotional force"
You can find loads of mass shooters who were on some kind of drug like anti depressants. Columbine, the Aurora movie theatre shooting.
No there is not look at my two graphs and read the titles . The overall homocide rate dropped hugely after 2005 . And it continues to drop now that graph doesn’t show the last 4 years which it has dropped below pre-ban levels . To the lowest our murder rate has been, in over 30 years .
And currently sits at 9.8 per-million people(lower than that graphs goes ) . Qlthough England and Wales is 9 per-million . Northern Ireland and Scotland ruin it as there murdee rates are still a little shakey
This was due to the police increasing numbers and activity going after the guns that were left illegally on the streets .
Personally I think the ban is stupid .
90% of those are suicides. These people would be dead anyway, just that a train corridor didn’t need to be stopped in order to achieve that goal for them (jumping under train is one of leading ways to commit suicides in the country).
I’d caution against use of gunpolicy.org. It is a website of Sydney University and it is extremely pro-gun control. Most facts about Czech Republic on the website are completely wrong. According to Czech police there were 2 murder committed with firearm in 2010, and that was the year they said “fuck it, we won’t be wasting resources for having a special line in the table for firearms murders.” The gun policy puts the number for 2010 at 13. It may very well include also DGUs, or I really don’t know where the number is coming from. (And especially number post 2010 when police stopped registering it separately).
On general level, I don’t care what firearms homicide rate is. I care what homicide rate by any means is. And in that regard Czech Republic is slightly safer than UK, even with all its guns and hundreds of thousands of people that have concealed carry licenses.
We had concealed carry license rate steady at 2% between 2000 and 2014, which allowed US to overtake us by about 2007. Now with the European migration crisis (which is non-existent in the Czech Republic apart from newspapers and tabloids) the concealed carry applications here went through the roof. It will be interesting to see whether we manage to take the primacy back from you again
Aaaand meanwhile in Austria (where they have more relaxed rules on non-repeating rifles and shotguns, but stricter on concealed carry):

All Czech newspapers are writing the story of a poor gypsy who was target of racism in the Czech Republic, became a police officer in UK and now got the Order of British Empire.

How many people get that order annually?
Not sure on actual numbers , but very common . Normally get it for doing lots of charity work or working for a long time as a police officer , fireman etc ,
It’s nothing special , but you get a day at Buckingham palace
Well, there is this peculiarity of reporting connected to this very man.
When there is gypsy crime in UK, it is always reported according to the passport they’re holding, in case of my country “Czech criminals”. When there is MBE, suddenly the guy is reported as a gypsy.
My father just bought a Cz 75 used for 400 dollars. Apparently the original owner paid 700 for it, isn’t that completely over priced? I thought i remember you saying you could get them for around 100 dollars.
Those are used CZ 82/83s. They are so cheap here because they were in service by the military and police, but were all now replaced with 75s. There is now also plenty used 83s that were in service by Israeli police and military. Gun shops are still flooded with them.
400 is what you would pay for a used 75 in excellent condition here too.
What particular model is it? Picture or it didn’t happen.
Well it looked like it was brand new, and I’m pretty sure it had never been fired before.
Not sure, it didn’t have a safety on it, and it was all black. I’ll try to get a picture next time, but i wont see my Father again for about a month. I’ll probably shoot it then too.
If that’s the case then it would be a pretty bargain price here.
That suggests it is a decocker model. Either CZ 75 BD Police or CZ 75 Compact D, which is my carry gun. Did it look like either of these?
https://www.czub.cz/zbrojovka/czech-guns/CZ_75_BD_POLICE.png
Then there is also the compact version with the rail, which is used by Czech cops:
https://www.czub.cz/zbrojovka/czech-guns/CZ_75_D_COMPACT.png
Or was it full size with rail? Or a plastic full size with rail? That would make many more versions possible.
Like this one, which has been Czech army service gun until recently (new pistols coming to army are P09s).
BTW the trigger is not that good on un-shot 75 (even though still better than majority of other guns). CZ officially recommends to buy snap-caps and dry fire it at least 300 times before going to range. After another 300 live rounds it should be smooth as a butter.
Parents divorced?
Yeah that’s what he was saying. Although i was thinking he got ripped off because i was thinking of all the times you mentioned the Cz 83.
I’d have to say second from the bottom, ill definitely know next time i see it. Are they fun guns to shoot?
Interesting i’ll pass this on.
Yes my father left when i was around seven, but i wont bore you with my daddy issues.
They definitely are. CZ 75 and its clones are the most widely used guns in the IPSC, which is a testament to their quality. Full size better to shoot, compact better to carry.
What I really like is that the grip angle is one of the best among handguns. It may not work for everyone, but it points absolutely naturally for me. I hope you will enjoy this one.

There is currently a land fill fire steadily heading towards a radioactive dump sight left over from the Manhattan project. This is all near a major city home to millions of people.
