quite a good read

I’m a PC with British Transport Police based in the South West, an area where our resources are spread very thin on the ground. There were two of us covering an area of approximately 200 miles last night and 10 train stations.
Last night my colleague and I were tasked with bringing back the last “drunk” train of the night. This train is notorious for anti-social behaviour, assaults (including sexual) and being full of drunk people who think it’s funny to try and rattle the police who have to escort them back home. We aim to prevent these types of offences from occurring (aim being the operative word.)
Last night it was particularly busy. We picked up around 500 people from a small spa town in the south west and had to escort them 30 minutes back to a larger town. The mood was not a good one - the train was delayed and I’d already had to fend off a number of people who chose to blame me for these delays. I’d already been told to f*** off more times than I could count and I was beginning to wonder when my first scrap was going to come.
We boarded the train at the buffet car, as this is the location where the majority of issues occur. Within minutes of the train pulling out of the station I’d already had some lad who looked like he’d just been born telling me that I was a f****** joke. Another bloke decided to start a chant up about BTP being a mickey mouse police force. We’re used to this so we didn’t rise to it, but the atmosphere was becoming increasingly hostile.
I can’t put my finger on what changed but the mood took a turn for the worse. People began to square up to each other and I began to wonder how long it’d be until I got assaulted. My colleague had walked to the other end of the train by this point to deal with someone getting arsey, so I was on my own with whatever happened.
I happened to mention to a member of the public that I was concerned that something was going to happen and that I’d get my head kicked in as I tried to stop it. At this point the MOP put his hand on my shoulder and said to me "You’re not getting your head kicked in - you’ve got a train full of military here. You shout, we’re there. We’re not going to let that happen."
Fortunately nothing happened, but to have that reassurance was exactly what I needed.
We may wear different uniforms, take a different oath and deal with completely different issues but I’d like to give a big shout out to the ladies and gentlemen who work in the armed forces. I could never do your job. Know that your brothers and sisters in blue stand shoulder to shoulder with you.

and a good comment on it, airborne lead the way

I had a roll around on the floor with a shoplifter some years ago.
I then saw a huge hand grab hold of the offender and he proceeded to leave the floor and his feet began to dangle in the air. As l looked around confused as to how this had happened I saw that the aforementioned huge hand was attached to a member of the Parachute Regiment who was built like a brick shithouse

this one is a US cop quite a heart breaking story , stories the media dont show enough of

In case you missed it - a story that’s as heartwarming as it is sad - from a Brother in Blue Across the Pond.

After responding to the scene of a car crash on Halloween, a young Georgia state trooper and his colleagues realised the couple killed in the crash had left behind four young children — who were home alone, wearing their costumes and waiting for their parents.

Faced with a tragic situation, Trooper Nathan Bradley says he stalled for time — to find the kids’ nearest relatives, and to figure out how to salvage their Halloween.

In a show of generosity that’s being widely praised, Bradley, 25, took the kids out for hamburgers and invited them for a movie-night sleepover at the patrol station, after their grandmother agreed that she should be present the next morning to break the news about their parents to the children, ages 6-13.

The accident occurred in Morgan County, Ga., less than a mile from where Donald and Crystal Howard had left their home to buy more face paint and candy. The pair died after their SUV left the road and hit a tree. The trooper says he decided to act after realising that with the kids’ nearest relatives living in south Florida, their grandmother wouldn’t be able to reach them until Sunday.

“I immediately fell ill,” he wrote on a GoFundMe page he started for the family. “Not only would these children discover they lost both parents, but would spend their Halloween in a county jail until somebody could tend to them; it just wasn’t right.”

In addition to caring for the children, Bradley started the fundraising campaign, to pay for the parents’ funeral costs and to establish a trust fund. The costs include the price of moving the parents to be buried in Florida, where the children will live with their grandmother.

“It’s the first time in the line of duty I told someone I loved them, and I do love them,” Bradley says of the children, in an interview with 11 Alive News in Atlanta. “I care about them a lot.”

On Halloween night, Bradley took the four kids out for burgers and milkshakes; along the way, the children talked about their mother’s good cooking, and their father’s tours of duty with the U.S. Army in Iraq and Afghanistan.

As they ate, Bradley says, his corporal called.

“I have the best supervisors in the state,” he writes, “so I wasn’t surprised when he told me that he was bringing his wife and their son to meet us.”

They all met at the Georgia State Patrol post, along with candy, popcorn and Disney movies. And then more help rolled in: several residents brought Halloween goodie bags for the kids, and the Morgan County sheriff came by, bearing buckets of candy.

Bradley says:

"The little girl grabbed my attention when she said ‘You turned an F-Minus day into an A-Plus night!’ I can’t begin to explain how hard it was to hear that, considering the night would be memorable but for reasons that were yet to be disclosed to them."
The children took showers and slept in the patrol station’s bedrooms. Their grandmother arrived the next morning, to talk with them about their parents. Bradley says he gave his phone number to the oldest boy, and told him to stay in touch.

“Our intent was to preserve their future Halloweens,” Bradley tells News Radio 106.7. “We wanted to break the news on November 1st, so that October 31st wasn’t going to be remembered for anything other than the evening they had with us.”

Since it was started Tuesday, the GoFundMe campaign for the family has raised more than $60,000. In an update to the page that was posted Wednesday morning, Bradley wrote:

“Justin called me this morning and said he wishes he could express his gratitude. He and his siblings read each of your messages. I have received over 34,000 emails over night. I’m reading through them and it’s just beautiful. We live in a great nation and what better way to show that than supporting this family of a veteran.”

The story has sparked a strong response, through both the fundraising campaign and on social media.

In a comment on WSB TV’s Facebook posting about the story that drew more than 100 “likes,” one reader wrote of Trooper Bradley, “I know him. Went to high school with him. He’s always had a heart of gold.”

Relying on random occurence of military personel in safety of police officers doesn’t sound like a sound tactic. But whatever works for you. Here you don’t kick cops head, you get shot. Everyone knows that is what would happen so it is only fair when it happens. And it happens almost never.

They beat the English in several wars and remained independent until 1707 when they willingly joined to become Great Britain.

That war was the epitome of a draw. Yes the Canadians (key word) did repel us from Canada, and the Royal Marines did occupy Washington D.C for a day after beating the militia force defending it. But America gained far more form that war than Britain did. First Tecumseh a very powerful Indian leader who was a British ally and had a sizeable force at his back was crushed, enabling us to gain more territory and push farther west.

Let’s also not forget New Orleans. When the British fought our professional troops they were absolutely destroyed despite have the numerical advantage of 3:1. The U.S was also had a pathetically small military at the time, so yeah it was a draw.

That war was pretty much just the French vs the French.

@snejdarek @TheDivineInfidel

This happened about 30 minutes from where i live, I’m surprised i didn’t hear about it till now.
Can’t say I’m surprised it happened there though, this area is sketchy as fuck.

Guy died three days later in the hospital.

I completely agree .

The same then generally happens here. Sadly for the officers sake if the person he shoots in self defence happens to be black, he just committed career suicide, and has marked himself and his family as a target for the rest of their lives.

Might have to fuck off home to play fallout 4 . One more meeting .

So I’ve spent lunch break with my British colleague at range. Seems his anti-gun edges got a bit smoothed off. Hopefully he is not a lost case, I’ll have to do my best to help him find the right path.

He ended up saying “I guess I’d need to learn a good bit more Czech in order to pass the license exam, huh?”

They take so much time doing the video update as if there was some terrible news in it. Trying to polish it to the extent that the terrible news gets lost in between.

I hope I’m wrong.
