Eh but with a pistol you could just keep it in your back pack or on your hip. Plus the rifle could be getting caught on tree branches and all this other annoying stuff. Plus its heavier and the ammo would be heavier too. And if you went a well traveled path then people would probably go into hysteria at the sight of the rifle.

Dan Vara has a beard Osama bin laden has a beard. Where was Dan Vara on 9/11? Looks like you have some explaining to do @TobiTobsen

Always thought this was a cool picture

not if you can hold a rifle correctly

[/quote] i would argue that by doing that you destroys its effectiveness especially if it in your bag. …on your hip not so much but its much quicker to raise a rifle , aim and put a accurate round to target than it is to unholster and put a accurate round to target.

also i would never keep a weapon on my hip . always on my leg . which is standard military practice as you drop to your knee and unholster in one action meaning the moment you bring the weapon to aim you’re already in a position to put a much more accurate burst of shots down. although some argue its better to have it on your chest rig on the left side .

although the side arm i carried on operation i very rarely even took out of my patrol pack .

If its slung on your back it could easily hit low hanging tree branches. Where i live me and my friends used to air soft a lot in the mountains. If you don’t know what that is its when you have pretty much lower powered pellet guns that shoot plastic bbs and you shoot at each other. Well it was a pain in the ass because of how thick certain areas were and our guns constantly go caught on bushes and other stuff. Anyways why would you want to hike while holding a rifle?

Well with animals like bear or moose you will hear them coming from a long way off. They are loud creatures. Plus if you get pinned by one of theses creatures you’re screwed if you have a rifle. With a pistol you could still shoot it if its on top of you.

I was just using that as an example. Plus its called conceal carry for a reason. It would be hard to conceal it on your leg but i think they do make certain holsters for that. Plus most park rangers or woodsmen recommend pistols for hikes and things like that.

I would also like to add that if you needed to get up something steep it would be much easier with a pistol than a rifle. Its more a matter of convenience than effectiveness.

hold it in your hands .
i find it easier hiking with something in my hands

A lot of people like walking sticks and its hard to hold that and a rifle at the same time. Plus you don’t need a rifle to take down a charging grizzly, moose, mountian lion a pistol will do you just fine. I guess its just personal preference.

lol

Well he had many, many guns in Canada, and I think he imported over a dozen of them when he moved here. Just that he couldn’t carry any for self defense. If I’m correct then also 30 rds mags are also forbiden there? Anyways, no such nonsence here.

There is no robot-translator that can cope with Czech language on any respectable level…

It is concealed carry only here. I.e. rifle would have to be in backpack. Large .44 still fits in shoulder holster under jacket nicely.

Maintenance on large steel revolver is minimum. He even told me I should get a used one, because it is built like a brick. There is no need to worry regarding its previous use, whatever it went through.

There was a case of a girl on horse being chased by a bear a week ago.

Probably first case in the Czech Republic in past 100 years (bears usually venture here from Slovakia, we don’t have any sizeable population). All gun webs and gun forums were immediately full of CCers saying how useful guns are against bears  I mean, I get it if you carry it to woods because of stray dogs (like I do), but come on, one bear in 100 years!

BTW, I was shooting CZ Scorpion EVO 3 (semi-auto SBR, not the pistol for US market) for a third weekend in a row now (borrowed at the range).

At first I just couldn’t justify its price (about €1.350) but now I am really falling in love with it. Goddamnit if only the price was a little lower. Weekend by weekend, it is getting harder and harder for me to avoid buying it.

i would hugely disagree with that picture in particular . engaging at that range with a pistol would of been a stupid move . and considering their were two of them the odds would have been hugely in their favour .

inside a room you could argue you would of had a chance but rooftop shooting with a pistol is just damn right stupid.

the peoples lives on the rooftop were not in danger so there is certainly no case to take such a risk which ultimately would of led to the two individuals putting down extreme rates of fire at the roof top and killing more .

if they’re going to make such posters fair play but at least have a realistic scenario as the image

BTW, shit happens in the Czech woods. After seeing this, .44 seems entirely justified.

It is not a rooftop, it is a window just above the street. Did you see the video of it? That is the moment Mr. Merabet gets killed. And the Frenchguy is just filming it. It is one of the most sickening things I have seen.

The distance is 10-15 metres. As it happens, the gun at the picture is CZ 75 (that is also why I like it so much). Had it been my window, and had I been home alone, I hope I would have had the courage to take the shot. Technically, it would not be a problem. The bad guy No.1 would be dead, or out of action. Mr. Merabet would probably be alive.

Yes, it would attract the fire from the other guy. I am very well aware of that and I would simply put five to ten rapid fire shots at target No.1 and then just take a cover and remain hidden unless there would be clear chance for another set of rapid fire shots, i.e. target No.2 changing mags or trying to take No.1 away, while still being armed and presenting clear threat warranting legally sound self-defense/defense of other person.

I can do whole mag in about 2 - 2.5 seconds at 10 meters on person target with 13 out of 16 clear hits. Taking this fucker down is thus doable. If the guy could film it, an average gun owner would be able to take him down.
