Troll cave II

The US is much more heavily taxed than Europe .

No way, maybe in some states like mine and California (most expensive states in the country) but a lot of states don’t even have an income tax.

What states are they ? .

As a whole on average the US is way more taxed than Europe .

Red states mainly, Texas comes to mind. A lot of people in my state are thinking of moving there because of how insanely cheap everything there is compared to where i live.

You said you were taxed half your wealth? That’s how much the 1% is taxed here.

That’s because I fit into the bracket of the 1% highest earners .

I pay half of what I take as salary well actually it’s 45% plus national insurance which takes me to about 47% of my salary .

But the majority of what I earn is in dividends of which I pay corporation tax on which the current government is dropping to 17% but currently sits at about 20%

Plus on top of that I also spend alot of money before I pay taxes as it goes as expenses.

The UK tax rates are

Up to £11,500 you pay no tax
Between £11,500 -£43,000 you pay 22%
Between £43,000 - £150,000 you pay 42%
Then above £150,000 you pay 47%

But of course you move up these brackets as you earn so I don’t pay 47% on my entire salary I just pay that on what’s above Ā£150,000

Still more than the U.S on average.

And some states taxes are incredibly low.

Compare that to say Denmark which has a 60% tax rate as its highest. My point was nothing is free, Europe has more social programs, but they also have higher taxes, (not to mention most European nations get to skip the bill when it comes to military budget, because of their NATO membership).

I personally prefer it where you choose where the money goes, not some ass hat in D.C, or some morons in California fantasizing about the ā€œSocialist Utopiaā€ that they think Europe is.

then add to that state income tax then add to that property tax

Again varies from state to state.

Almost everything ive found points to lower taxes in the U.S than in Europe.

i refer to you a comment left on that article

Most European countries have a uniform national tax system. The USA has non-uniform federal, state and local tax systems. At one point I was the ā€œMarried, 2 children, single income, 200%ā€ tax-payer. My tax burden far exceeded the 21%-22% percent indicated by the illustration. Federal and state income taxes, retirement and Medicare, home and car property taxes, excise taxes, sales taxes and licensing fees, and the hidden taxes in goods and services easily drove the burden to 38 plus percent, and that is only what I could easily count up. If I threw in what I paid for health and insurance (in order to even the apples to apples comparison with European socialism), then the burden exceeded 47 percent. Don’t know what planet the research data come from, but it’s not the planet I live on.

Would have to know what state they live in. If you live in a city in my state or California your taxes are going to be stupidly high.

I’m going to go with the two articles over one comment.

Edit: after a quick search i’m seeing most states not even having a ā€œCar taxā€. Based on the other taxes he mentioned (like excise taxes) I’m guessing he lives in either Washington or Oregon (both left wing states). So I’m guessing high taxes which isn’t the nation average.

Still haven’t seen any evidence for Americans being taxed more than Europeans.

otherwise known in the US as a annual registration fee

United States[edit]
Each state requires an annual registration fee which varies from state to state.[17]

Additionally, in some states, counties and/or municipalities are allowed to also impose a vehicle tax. For example, in Illinois, certain counties tax vehicles that are registered in unincorporated areas, and a number of municipalities have their own annual vehicle registration fee. In Massachusetts, the excise tax is billed separately from registration fees, by the town or city in which the vehicle is registered, and was set at a fixed rate of 2.5% statewide by a 1980 law called Proposition 2½. Within some states, the fees may vary from county to county, as some counties have surcharges per vehicle. An example of this is Virginia’s personal property tax. The state of New York, on the other hand, charges a tax based on the vehicle’s weight, rather than on its value, which is charged at the time of registration renewal.[citation needed]

In California and New Hampshire, the registration tax is calculated by the current value of the vehicle. As a result, older and more inexpensive vehicles will have a low registration fee, whereas newer and more expensive vehicles will have fees in the hundreds of dollars.

There is also a Federal Highway Use tax for vehicles with gross weights of 55,000 pounds or more, including trucks, truck tractors and buses. Generally, vans, pickup trucks, panel trucks and the like are not subject to this tax. The tax does not apply to vehicles that are used for 5,000 miles or less (7,500 miles or less for agricultural vehicles) on public highways during a tax period.

And the in the most expensive states it costs about as much as eating out at a cheap restaurant.

So unless you’re a trucker, it’s not something that really increases your taxes.

here its called road tax and goes on what type of car it is . some modern cars pay nothing at all .

From what i saw it’s only expensive if you own something that weighs 4000 pounds, so i think it’s safe to say it wouldn’t increase your taxes much.

Ive never even heard of it so it’s probably is a non issue in my state.

The taxes in my state are probably going to double soon though, saw a lot of new bills on the ballot proposing idiotic things like a ā€œCigarette taxā€.

most people all over the world pay way to much tax for the simple reason that this generation is financially illiterate . so many ways legally around tax . i choose to pay myself a high salary and take the tax hit because i believe to a point paying my fair share but i could if i wanted to by pass income tax pretty much entirely .

i know many of my "richer " friends pay alot less tax than many of my school/military mates who earn a great deal less .

Tell me more.

Back in 1776 American were willing to face the British line infantry in open battle over a 2% tax on tea. Oh how we’ve become pussies.

A strong police force deters crime. Back in the 30s when cops were armed with nothing but 6 shooter revolvers, bank robbing was rampant. Now a days if you want to rob a bank you pretty much have to die to do it.

That what you wanted to hear?

I want to hear about the low crime levels in the USA. Please tell me more.
