So apparently the end of the “2nd amendment for Czechia” came sooner than even I expected. As I predicted, our PM Sobotka with his neormaxist allies within CSSD already started to furiously fight against it, using basicaly the same arguments as the EU. Ministery of foreign affairs even went so far that they used an argument that it would be bad because it would prevent us from implementing the new gun restrictions that are going to be imposed by EU, with badly hidden gloating.
Considering that 2 most influencial CSSD members - PM Sobotka and minister of foreign affairs Zaoralek expressed such strong opposition, basicaly siding with EU, it’s pretty much impposible for the ammendment to be approved by the government. The rest of CSSD ministers are either batshit insane neomarxists - Marksova, Valachova and Chvojka, who will oppose it for ideological reasons and their preference for EU interests over czech interests, or too weak to oppose Sobotka (Mladek, who still has the job only because Sobotka protected him). That leaves Chovanec alone, yet even he won’t go openly against Sobotka, which means in order to save his face, he will retract the proposal so there won’t be any vote to lose. Christian democrats would no doubt vote against it as well, since they are the most anti-gun party in the parlament. It is not clear how ANO would vote, the only one that is 100% sure to vote against it is neomarxist Pelikan. All this makes absolutely impposible for the amendment to pass through the government.
And considering it is a constitutional amendment what we are talking about, there is no way parlament will support it without governmental support, since constitutional changes are very delicate and MPs won’t go against their party leaders in such thing. Another thing is that if the proposal in the parlament won’t get preferential treatment of a governmental proposal, even if some MP decided to propose it, it wouldn’t be voted before the next parlamentary elections. By that time, EU gun ban will be already in effect.
So much for your belief that CSSD is pro-gun, @snejdarek.

I am from Europe and I’m triggered by those assault rifles and ghost guns in this video. I once shot an AR (Assault Rifle) 15 and I temporarily got PTSD from it and cried for like an hour. It is pretty fucking amazing:
- large number of USSR soldiers sent to Afghanistan shot rifle only once (standard was 9 rounds) and threw one live grenade before arriving in Kabul; many never fired a gun before getting there
- whole units were often told that they are being sent for “exercises” and only realized mid-flight that they are actually being sent to combat zone (on paper, they all volunteered)
- the level of bullying in USSR army was just out of this world, but what totally blew my mind was that…
- … USSR soldiers were most of the time going HUNGRY, often also thirsty, many developed malnutrition-connected illnesses
– it was common for soldiers to first search dead Afghanis for food and only later for anything else of value
– when they had the luck of getting some canned meat/fish, it was usually from 1940s/1950s and way past due date
– court martial with soldiers who sold weapons/ammo to Afghanis in exchange for food were not uncommon (not their own - that would be too obvious, but of their fallen comrades) - the public opinion regarding the war in USSR underwent similar shift as in US regarding Vietnam war
- here the propaganda always painted USSR as “communist success story country” but the way the people were poor is absolutely unimaginable even by Czech communist standards. The soldiers were all dreaming of being able to buy simple consumer electronics (i.e. cassette player) or a pretty dress for a GF at a market in Afghanistan as these were out of reach for most of them back at home
