More like Captain hippy.
Itâs what you have to sign up to , to be able
To vote . So people not on it would be people not old enough or canât be bothered to fill out an online form taking about all of 4 seconds to complete .
Democracy is decided by those who turn up for it . Thatâs a stupid pie chart made by a sore loser
I thought only Americans have that.
Here everyone older than 18 is eligible, period. You just need to come with an ID.
Registration is needed only when you want to vote outside of place of residence.
Here you have to register for the draft first ( completely fine with that) and you have to register your party affiliation (something I think is stupid).
You also have to send in your SS number, and a ton of other personal info.
Ours is just your full name , address and NI number (basically the same as your SS number ) I believe literally takes less than a minute as itâs all done online .
Then near election date they send you instructions on where to vote (always the same place ) and they have your name listed next to your address . They tick you off and issue you a ballot paper .
Simple as fuck still people canât be arsed to take part in a democracy though. Yet they still moan when it goes against them .
Thatâs fucking stupid . Whatâs the point of the election then
Thatâs just creates a situation like we had for many years where people vote for the same party every time regardless of their policies .
Tons of people do that here. So many old people who have conservative beliefs vote democrat simply because " itâs the party of FDR and JFK".
They still have plenty of time to riot in the streets post election though.
Do you have to register for the draft before voting?
Nope . We do not have such a system here .
You seriously donât have a draft? Seems pretty odd.
No need to have one . Most nations donât
We needed one in nam.
Maybe not Western Europe but the majority of the world has a draft I guarantee it.
Well yes Iâm
Sure they do in the Middle East . We wouldnât need one to draft if we ever had to .
There are plenty of countries with mandatory military service, something that was common in several European nations not long ago.
And Iâd bet money most countries have citizens register for the draft. Thatâs not to say they use it, but Iâm sure itâs there.
even when we had national service here . you never had to sign up for a draft as such you were simply called upon . when you turned 17 and served a year then remained on reserve for 4 years .
im still personally a reservist meaning i could be called upon if ever needed but regular civilians no . never had it like that . there is no need for a draft registration system , the government has records of your age if we ever had to actually draft civilians anyone of age would be called upon.
I think itâs because there are a lot of exemptions to the draft here, so they want you to submit all your records for it. Collage kids are usually less likely to get drafted as are parents, people with health issues, people who do high skill jobs.
I can see why they need a registry due to how large the u.s is. The Feds have to compile lists from 50 states.
Well Trump just launched 50 fucking cruise missiles into Syria, because Turkey and the âmoderate rebelsâ said Assad who gave up his chemical weapons years ago, and who is wining the war and has absolutely zero reason to do this, just killed a bunch of children with Gas.
To hell with wondering why the clean up crews werenât wearing proper gear (sarin gas can be absorbed via skin contact) or questioning the objectivity of the source, or even waiting more than 48 hours for a proper investigation, just go against your promises to avoid foreign conflicts and shoot millions of dollars of missiles into an area that contains Russian troops. Un fucking real. Ive never been more demoralized about the government, and i can begin to see why people just give up on voting. Theyâre all the fucking same.
And this was a week after the secretary of state said it was âup to Syrians to determine the future of Syriaâ.
The Russians were told before the strike .
How swiftly he has acted however will do wonders for the US globally . Expect The North Koreans to be watching closely and maybe this time shitting there pants
I heard, but i still find it reckless. U.S politicians wield our military power like a kid who found his fathers gun.
Ive heard this too. However the secretary of state has now changed his tune on Assad, to one similar as Hillary clintons idea. Removing Assad will solve nothing, it will just turn another country into ruins and ashes.
But this time another nuclear power is operating in country, and is allied with Assad. How do they plan on doing this without a major war? Plus this is a complete 180 flip from his campaign promises. His supporters did not want foreign intervention and continued regime changes.
You canât just go launching missiles every time some kids get killed, it just makes the entire situation worse. Awful shit happens globally, a president should not use military action based on emotion alone. I donât understand why our leaders find it so damn hard to just stay out of affairs we have no business in.
