I am very early in the game (I have the quest to go to uzhitz but haven’t gone yet), so my stats are still pretty low. What am I supposed to do against enemies that just attack me out of no where when they are almost in full plate? I tried calling my horse and riding away, but as soon as I got on my horse I got hit and knocked off (I got to attempt this twice and then my horse was killed). They proceeded to murder me and now because of the way the game saves I have to go redo an in game days worth of stuff.
Don’t go in Uzhitz yet. Train with Sir Bernard for a few hours.
I have no intention of going yet, but I am trying to do some side quests to get a break from the training, but even with training I don’t really have the equipment to deal with enemies that are almost in full plate.
Strange thing. What stats do you have?
Piercing arrows to the face!
You pretty much arent supposed to be able to beat anyone in combat yet, make money and buy better gear, this is an RPG like any other, gear is everything. in this game you dont even need to earn it, just buy it. There are many ways to make money and 1k is enough to buy the bailiffs mace which onehits every bandits you accidentally hit, another 4k buys you pretty much the best armour in the game.
Remember that no matter how much you carry your horse can still run with you on top and that all chests next to beds you own are connected, so moving loot is no issue.
Rob, pick flowers or brew to make the money to get the mace, trust me, everything after that is childs play.
Alright Bailiffs mace it is… I would like to accidentally one hit everything that comes to close.
I do like the title of the thread. What are you supposed to do? When this happens to a lot of people they just want to come post about how the game is garbage and should bend to their every whim.
I would advise to play as if you are an unskilled son of a blacksmith whose village just got annihilated by hostile invaders. Avoid fully mailed opponents at all costs.
I should also mention that while it was my solution to the problems I had in combat it might now work for you.
The reason I had no problems after switching to maze anymore are as follows:
Up until I bought the maze I had a shortsword, shortswords are agi based. However I never really sidestepped to avoid damage nor did I use a bow or whatever else increases agi, so I had 4 agi.
I did however, no matter how, increase my strength to 8 at that point, maces are strenght based.
I further didnt do much poking, more swinging, again this favours the mace. Lastly maces deal more damage to armoured enemies, wearing chain makes them pretty immune to slashing/cutting.
So in the event that you are a sidestep loving, bowusing guy who pokes a lot you might not have the same game changing experience I had.
Full plate is countered by blunt weapons, such as maces and hammers.
I don’t understand what’s your problem. I haven’t even gone on a hunt with Hanush yet, but managed to open all towns, get good gear and buy tear 5 horse with good sadle. And when there was “Ambush” encouner with heavy plated enemies, I just sprinted away. But once I got horse, it’s even easier because I can gallop past them.
Ever hear the song hammer smashed face?
It’s fun fighting plate… I didn’t have a hammer an I’m level 9. The fight went on 15 minutes I was at half health he was at 3 quarter health and finally I got off a 4 hit combo all the hits connected then he just slumped over. Best fight so far.
From what I have experienced so far fighting a few Knights you can easily win against enemies wearing full plate armor even if you do not use a mace. I do have bailiffs mace in my bags but gotta confess I never used it. Right now I am using St. Gregory’s sword (longsword). The way I go into fights with it is playing them quite aggressively. Meaning i try to get into as many clinches as possible and after winnig those I start poking the enemy a bit. If they attack I just try to get out as many repostes as possible. Never went below maybe 80% health in those fights. So if you are comfortable with a sword an don’t really want to switch to another weapon it is still possible to beat every opponent. It just might take a bit longer
exactly what people did back then, use blunt force weapons like Maces, Warhammers (Polearms are effective too)
Travel ON your horse. So when someone you can’t beat jumps you, you can immediately flee.
If using a sword, then you definitely need to take your time and use counter attacks. Those in plate armour tend to also be skilled fighters, so outright constant attacks dont work very well. Timing and patience is the key. Although using a weapon such as an axe or preferably a mace will deal significant more damage to a plated enemy. Plate armour tends to have less defence against blunt force than other types of armour, so using a weapon with more blunt damage can help out a lot.
I use the short sword called “stinger” with a shield and it one pokes everything, like everyone else is saying learn master strikes from bernard in rattay at the combat arena. riposte + stab is game over every time, maces probably work better like people are saying but if you just want that blade like me this works great.
Well i solved this thing by making money and getting better gear while doing so. It is pretty easy.
So lets start in rattay, the armorers shop under the rathause, he does have a couple of nice sweet milanese plate cuirasses on his shelf.
Steal them.
Do the same with the contents of the swordsmith.
make note just rent a bed in the tavern for like 10g to save your game inbetween and to drop off the loot in the chest.
DO NOT SELL.
eventually the items lose their stolen tag (can take a week but thats fine).
while you wait for your new set of plate armor to lose its stolen status you will go and gather the rest of your outfit.
basically follow a guard and when he is alone choke him out from behind then put a sword in his ribs so he wont wake up.
Loot his corpse and put the hot loot in the chest.
now, go take a bath and get some sword training, or even explore the woods and hunt deer and rabbits to sell (makes some extra cash, cook them and they will lose their stolen/poached tags).
after about a week all your armor and loot should be good to wear.
Also, there is a knight somewhere tht does have full plate armor that wants to duel you, i think it is a random encounter, just ignore him and choke him from behind and loot him and you’ll have a full brand new set of plate.
to fight againts plate use maces or axes. slash damage(swords) are rather ineffective against them. however if you keep hammering long enough you’l eventually win, just wtch that stamina. a shield is useful too!
You can earn money with herbals. It’s very easy. Around Uzhitz and Rattay are marigold and other herbal. I made my first cash with this and bought a better sword and other items.
Herbalism will help you with strength later too.
