I just got a copy of KCD from my humble bundle monthly, so I’ve been playing the heck out of it. I hemmed and hawed about buying it, now that I’ve played it I wish I had bought it earlier, but I’m glad Humble Bundle Monthly gave it to me. Loving the story and the acting. Top Notch! Before KCD I was playing a lot of 7 Days to Die and Move or Die.
It’s good you play it now. A lot of people were bugged before and couldn’t wait for patch releases coming faster.
While KC:D is “uncertain” choice when it comes to the updates and lack of modding tools (also, some mods of my “collection” are not updated yet), I decided to try famous Witcher 3 (thanks to summer sale in Steam). And, well, it is good. Really good.
BTW, does anyone knows good mods for it? Right now I’m using only mod for bigger bets in gwent (when max bet is 10 coins, there is no sense at all to bother with playing game after you got all the cards, and if you are not going to play - why did you collect all that cards?), but am intersted in something else to see and try.
I also bought POE Deadfire while on sale on GOG……. I have tried both real0time and turn-based, in this game I like the turn-based better. Both styles are good, I am just getting lazy in my old age.
I play Pillars of Eternity 2, this game is a marvel, all the defects of 1 have disappeared, the open world is enjoyable, the cities are huge, classes, multi classes and subclasses are really good. I enjoy it.
It is an addictive game… So many side quests that keep one busy.
Dying Light and Monster Hunter World.
ow do you like Monster Hunter World? Watched some gameplay on YouTube and I just am not sure about that game.
It was my most favourite game on PSP. Sure it’s good though missions kind of repeat but the big monster fights feel satisfying, it’s like boss fights. You have to plan your trip well and learn to play with your favourite weapon but I tend to switch to one with better stats once I have resources to upgrade one. It has nice coop too. The world I’m in offered some 4 monsters already and I dived into second world for a short and monster there was interesting too. You can jump on top and slash it. Or chop its tail, fangs, damage its head. It was no brainer for me. I just waited for discount and I got deluxe edition. Controls may seem clunky for you, it’s console port after all, some weapons are slower than others (and harder to play). I would recommend playing with fast ones, you are more maneuverable but fights will take much longer and then some monsters fly so you will have to switch after a while.
Need For Speed 2 - Special Edition
Thanks for the tips. I am not into the coop… Just have not developed a network of gamers. I may give it awhirl when it goes back on sale. Again, thank you. Cheers!
March? how fortuitous… anyhow, years later it seems we finally have a targeted early release date
Who knows how many years years will stay in early access after March.
Undoubtedly, it’ll be another 8 yrs. Not an insufferable condition if it offers gameplay depicted in the video… i.e. battles with more warhorses than all NPCs combined in some noteworthy RPGs
Sometimes, i play Hell Let Loose. It’s still in early release and I enjoy it a thousand times more than the finished/polished WWII versions of Battlefield and COD. So, early release albeit a letdown could still be a (very) enjoyable product
Isn’t “Hell Let Loose” a horror game?
Damn, I love all the admiration for POE in this thread, usually everyone just talks about DOS (not that it is not a great game, I love it too) but Pillars gets forgotten
Ah yes, it’s a world war shooter. I like shooters when they focus on singleplayer with a strong campaign and well written story telling.
Meanwhile, I decided to remember old good times and give a try to DEI mod for Rome 2 Total war. Never before in TW strategies your ass handed to your by AI was sooo fascinating.
i like Hell Let Loose precisely because it lacks the elements you cite. there is no funneling (to facilitate the main quest/plot). there is no linearity in the events before you. there is no timeout. in an RPG you have some semblance of control… it’s a precondition for establishing a role.
In Hell Let Loose, you’re subject to issues beyond your control at a scale not conceivable in a traditional RPG: your squad mates, your squad commander, your company leader, … their personalities (silent, collaborative, aggressive), fighting tendencies (Rambo, strategic, noob), etc. The WW2 (and WW1) versions of COD war mode and Battlefield war mode have aspects of this, but Hell Let Loose has a lot more chaos and unpredictability. and yet in all the chaos, there’s order … reminiscent in some ways of a now old book, ‘order out of chaos’ by Ilya Prigogine. Working with others in your struggle to overcome the chaos sparks interest; playing a part in prevailing over the chaos makes it rewarding in ways that not even vanquishing over 3000 NPCs in numerous KCD battles can replicate.
