Who came here for a console port?

You can use your PS4 controller on a PC, just plug it in and play. Your OS should automatically recognize it and use it as the primary device. If not, then just get an emulator and bind your keys how you want it.

Ditto. 99.95% of the time we get screwed with a console focus and a cheap lazy port to the PC. Personally I think that is more than half the reason there is animosity. Iā€™m sick of getting messages like ā€œPress LT to enter the building,ā€ when Iā€™m using my keyboard, or of the console specific UI that is so much of a pain to use with a mouse. There is a reason why Skyimā€™s most popular mod changes stuff like this.

What? When did I say its better? I just wanted to keep the topic on consoles and not PC.

Iā€™m pretty much dependent on a PS4 port, since my PC is really outdated. Since Warhorse just announced an Xbox One digital version, I hope a PS4 confirmation is right around the corner.

This is the first Kickstarter Iā€™ve supported and itā€™s solely in hopes to play it on xbox one. Iā€™m more of a console player (I know, gasp) and havenā€™t really been one to play on PC after being on one all day at work. I am really excited about joining this adventure and hope to see more like it with maybe some multiplayer added in.

Hoping for a PS4 release, but would still be happy with PC.

I know thats why pc gamers get all bent out of shape when a game is going to be on consoles too. That has nothing to do with the consoles them selves that has everything to do with the developers being lazy and the fact that consoles usually sell more copies. PC gamers should complain about devs not consoles or the fact that more people get to play the game.

Iā€™m not much of a console gamer, so any time I have an option of getting a game on PC, I almost always will. I mostly only play exclusives on my PS3 anymore, and honestly inFAMOUS: Second Son is going to be one of the main reasons I get a PS4 (and thus that may be a while), as well as a few other PS/console exclusives.

However, I welcome a console version of all games, as well as this one, so long as the mechanics are not dumbed down or nerfed or otherwise reduced in order to place the game on consoles.

This was the 36th of 38 games I backed, and it was because as a PC gamer there is no way around crowdfunding anymore. If you want a decent PC game donā€™t look for AAA titles because theyā€™re mostly ā€œdumped downā€ for consoles. I think, without spite, that itā€™s the console gamers time to receive shitty ports. Thanks KS!

Iā€™m sorry for intruding and being that PC-gamer-master-race guy. Iā€™m usually not like that. Play what and how itā€™s fun to you.

theyā€™re not complaing about consoles, but the console audience, because thatā€™s the reason devs dumb down games.

similar to chicken or egg conundrum, except in this case, it is known that the reason consoles and simple games came to be is because the consumer has low standards and is, for lack of a better term, stupid and easily duped.

see the growth of consoles, correlated negatively to the complexity and design sophistication of household franchises. ai actually becomes worse, design actually becomes more simple. the newest example is thief.

no its the idea that they can appeal to a mass audience by making games simple because of the rising cost and risks of games. Your idiotic idea that someone who plays on a console is inherently stupider than you because they play on console just proves who is stupid.

Sheesh. Can we agree weā€™re equally stupid and get over it?

My dislike of consoles is the ā€œlicensingā€ costs injected into the software model which bumped the price of games into astronomical levels while at the same time simplifying them to account for the dysfunctional control mechanisms, and the deleterious impact on gaming advancementsā€¦

Sadly, the bulk of the market is convinced that consoles are bleeding edge, (theyā€™re notā€¦ theyā€™re locked down throwbacks), and that computers are too complicatedā€¦ both of which are so much marketing wishful thinking.

Even at release, consoles are old-techā€¦

The worst I would accuse console gamers of is willfully buying the marketing cool-aidā€¦

and destroying gaming as we know itā€¦ ;p (not serious!)

I laughed so hard at that last sentence. Thank you.

I am a console playerā€¦ but because I am also interested in Star Citizen Iā€™m looking to build a rig. So Iā€™ll probably play this on PC. BUT if that plan falls throughā€¦ totally gonna have to play in PS4.

And even if I do end up playing on PC, Iā€™m gonna play with a controller. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I agree.

Iā€™m not saying all console games or gamers are stupid, far from it of course! But with so many copies needing to be sold the mass market is always of primary concern for AAA titles and this desire to capture as big a group of people often comes at a steep price in terms of design.

Look at the trouble Warhorse had with getting their game published for e.g.: ā€˜No magic - No thanks.ā€™ Iā€™m not saying that the publishers were only thinking of console gamers when rejecting their pitch, but they clearly thought WH were aiming at too niche a market and console gamers are the target audience when it comes to 90% of AAA cross-platform titles.

Iā€™m very happy that two of my favourite games have great mod support (Skyrim & Fallout) as itā€™s wonderful being able to tailor them to my needs and make them feel like a ā€˜properā€™ hardcore PC game. I wouldnā€™t have enjoyed either nearly as much had it been locked down to the original version.

Also, some large developers internally view the console audience as the ā€˜cool, sexy and popularā€™ crowd (+$$$ +Kudos) and PC gamers as the ā€˜nerds,ā€™ to be ignored and poked fun at (+ pirates). Iā€™m not saying this is the case everywhere of course, but I can attest to it firsthand from one very large developer/publisher.

Ok seriously there is no need to have this battle between consoles and pc. The game is going to be the same on both. I will play on my ps4 and have not played any pc game forā€¦maybe coming on 15yrs now. I went to consoles because they are no hassle and for those ā€œhardcoreā€ pc gamers out there who bang on about how stupid we console players are I ask you this. Who is the stupid one when console gamers buy a game go home and play it. Or pc gamers who buy the game go home and plaā€¦oh waitā€¦my graphics card aint up to scratchā€¦and oh no I dont have a big enough cpu and all the rest? You spend more time buying more stuff than just enjoying a game.

Thanks to consoles stagnating the upper ceiling of how much power a game can use for the last 8 years, this hasnā€™t been a real problem for this entire generation compared to when game technology was advancing at the same pace as the hardware that came out for PCs. We all just enjoy games once we sit down now, some of us just enjoy it with better shinies, and more control options, and mods and are willing to pay a premium for that.

I agree that keeping a PC up to date is more expensive than owning a console and can be a pain at times, but maybe itā€™s partly this lack of interest or effort that emphasizes the difference between console and PC gamers, i.e. that PC gamers tend to be considered ā€˜hardcore,ā€™ prefer more of a challenging experience and are more patient generally; whereas console gamers are often viewed as ā€˜casual,ā€™ dislike high learning curves/difficulty and are more likely to get frustrated by a slower game experience?

Now, Iā€™m not saying thatā€™s always the case at all - There are many hardcore console gamers out there for sure, itā€™s just that what you said along the lines of ā€˜consoles are easy and trouble free, plug and play,ā€™ as opposed to the effort required by a PC gamer, might say more about why a certain player prefers a certain type of game? Console gamer - ā€œI canā€™t be bothered with all that fuss,ā€ PC Gamer, ā€œI can, plus I think the extra ā€˜troubleā€™ is worth it.ā€

Yeah, this has never been a good argumentā€¦ Given the degree to which consoles lag behind PC hardware, I can play the latest and greatest console bloatware at full settings on 7+yr old hardwareā€¦ because consoles are the enemy of innovation, along with software pricing that has driven hyper-inflation in release pricing on all platformsā€¦

So ā€¦ cruddier hardware and more expensive softwareā€¦ thanksā€¦ cheaper to own? Not exactlyā€¦

Aside from that, noā€¦ there is no solid reason for the argumentā€¦
