Why so bad optimization?

Why is there so many lag in this game? I know my system is not very good. But at least it should not be in the lowest settings and resolution.

This is my system

İntel® Core™ i7- 4770 CPU @ 3.90
RAM 8,00 GB 1333 mHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 128 BİT 2 GB DDR3

and as I said, I get 10-15 fps even at the lowest settings. Too many updates, but no performance fixes.

Cry Engine 3 is not really a problematic engine. I played all the games of Crysis without the lag at the high settings.

I am happy if you write your ideas. Because it is not normal.

The devs when designed the game and use the cry engine have the CPU doing a lot of streaming on the go creating things on the fly as you move from area to area. This puts a heavy computational load on the system. Unlike other/older games that used the GPU to do a lot of the work and from stock files of areas that just hafta be loaded.
This is my take from what I have read here and other sources.

BTW my system is even lesser than yours.

I get 8-25 fps in rattay, around 25 in forest, 5-10 fps in the big battles, 30-45 in wide open empty country., about 20-25 in small towns, the military camp out by merhohred…sheesh., even good system can choke on it.
Only time I break 35 is on fast travel( not much to keep drawing there just that little bugger.)
The one thing I have notice they did on optimization is my really low FPS is as jerky as before.
OH: I play on 85% medium @1920x1080 borderless

Did they not realize this before? Before released the game? Because as far as I can remember, they have been doing this since 2013. Maybe it’s been around before.

At least they could ask Crytek. How to making game properly with your engine. xD This game has really potential.

But they have shadowed it with awful optimization. I think they did it knowingly. Players to buy high system.

I have no other idea to think about. There are very few games I’ve had this kind of trouble with, and some have solved with the updates that come in.

But it’s a different in Kingdom come.

The cry engine they use is very modified and leased( they don’t own the engine).
I think they were making for the future of system to handle their view of how the game should look at high setting.
Unfortunatley not everyone has the income to swap out for upgrade often. Add to that the Game was meant for PC adding in Mikey soft and lord god Sony made matters worse. They couldn’t handle the game as made so some dumbing down was needed…more mess.
Also they were getting pressure from their biggest backer: deep silver publisher. So all the initial bugs getting by from not enough time to Q&A or people to do it to meet deadlines

I understand. Of course, making games is very difficult. It’s not a child’s game. But what is bothering me is that there is no step taken to correct this problem.

Or ı think it might be when there is no turning back. It’s a shame … it will not be played properly until we get an expensive system.

The key seems to be in having at least an 8 core system if not better with 8-12 thread setup with 16Gb DDR4 ram and 8Gb Vram

The You Tuber Lady Lillia uses a system that has 8x 8 and only a 1070 card yet gets 60-100 Fps.
And yet still slows some in rattay and the military camp. but WAY better than us and at high setting

I never get a system like that. I just need to find the half. At least do not lag in the medium.

the system above is in the neighborhood of $1100US
8x8 cpu, mobo, ddr4, at least a 1070 or radion equal
Don’t even think about a 1080 card. Those and the 1o70 and same quality ones are being mass grabbed by bit coin miners of all types of internet coinage. Even Nvidia isn’t happy. Prices have doubled 'cause of them. look up bit coin mining, you’ll be pissed!

Because code optimization requires a lot of programming skills, experience and time demanding.

Assets were created with console in mind. Beyond that, if WH didn’t adequately stress test before committing to marketing on console, that’s on them. If a small Czech medical device company launched its software based product on different platforms and it messed them up, they’d get no sympathy (tissue to cry in) from the EU EMA, US FDA and their respective consumers

Game is fine.

Some things still to tweak and tune; but this isnt an indication of any failing on WHs part.

Like a few other open world games KCD is bound to draw heavily from the CPU/RAM/Storage/GPU in ways many other games will never strive to achieve.

I would recommend at least 8Gb of RAM (if using only 8Gb best have a very clean windows install with no ancillory software, and a fast drive to stream from…),… ideally a six core processor with hyper threading, although high clocked i7s should prove capable…

Optimally set up drive configuration (eg paging file on a different drive to the game etc/not an SSD that requires heavy CPU to work (eg mainstream cheapies).
And a decent video card (something that was a mid level variant when it came out…).

That would be the lowest to 'sneak over the line and possibly get console plus experience…

Otherwise- 16gb RAM (tweaked cr1 and lower cl or much faster speed eg 2666)
Intel 5920k / AMD equivalent as CPU
Nvidia 980 (780 970) / AMD fury (380 470)
Will hit many Ultra settings and prove a nice game experience…

I have a system like suggested with a ‘cheap’ second hand video card: a 4Gb amd fury…

I get ultra plus settings at high frame rate.
Game has no bottlenecks…

Unlike the OPs video card which greatly holds back the rig.

An nvidia 630 is below the min/rec spec for just about every recent game on steam- and certainly below what is needed for smooth gaming in one of the trickier genres to do (large scale open world).

Given a video card with twice as much grunt are genetally past flooding the second hand market and are so cheap that they would cost way less than the game: it probably isnt worth our time to discuss this- one-two hours of wage could make the game very smooth for the OP!

An nvidia 630 is less than half the grunt of an xbox/ps4. Nuff said!

Sorry but you are wrong.

I agree. I’m a big fan of role playing games. But I have never experienced this problem before. At least so deeply.

I do not want to play the game in ultra settings. But there can be no explanation or excuse for lag in low settings.

My display card is actually very bad. But he had to play this game at a steady 30 fps in low settings.

As far as I read, there are fps losses even in best systems. I think there is no connection with the system.

Your GPU is too weak. Low amounts of VRAM and DDR3 to make it worse and. You also have only 96 cuda cores. In my laptop using only one gt755m (384 cuda cores at higher clocks) I get about 24 FPS (dropping to the mid 10s in cities and busy sections) on a Low settings (medium textures and shadders) with increased LOD and object draw distances. So it sounds about right. The game’s objects are very detailed and that requires a lot of computing power to push. Your GPU has 10% of the CUDA cores required in the minimum specs. It is not an optimization issue.

Even if I drop the game’s graphics to the very end, it still seems very high. That’s why I think lag is. Why are you defending? This game is lagging even on the cards in the GTX series.

When I use SLI on my laptop I can get locked 30 fps everywhere but towns and in my Desktop with a GTX 980Ti I can play a mix of ultra/very high at 60 fps locked except for Rattay town centre. So I can’t say that I do. Some patches ago the game actually ran worse but now it is running really well. To be fair, I always had good performance so ymmv.

I am defending because you are running way bellow minimum specs. And the fact you cannot see a difference between low and high means that your computer is probably not even rendering the high settings due to lack of resources. Your CPU is fine and so is your RAM. You need a new GPU though. If you have the budget try to find a second hand 750ti or a 950 or even 960 or the AMD equivalent from the R7 370 to the R9 285 or even a good R9 290 (depending on budget and availability). Even the 750ti will significantly boost your performance.

Regards.

It’s well known that the US army used PS3’s Cell processors for their own stuff. What do you think that happened to PS3 prices because of that? Well, and I’m 101% certain that the chinese communist party, the russian KGB, the “people’s republic” dictatorships of north korea and venezuela, the israeli army, the hammaz and the fu.ckers at isis all do their own same same sh.it with mass consumption hardware sold at highly competitive prices too.

My point: Don’t be a clown to governments, dictatorships and their central/reserve/state banks by blaming bitcoin for the death of children in africa. Please.

Never said your absurd accusations about children in Africa. Or you conspirator rants.
I pointed out that the miners heavy buying up of gamming quality GPU is out stripping the supply rate of the manufactures and so giving the gamers short shrift at gear for them. To the point that the cards are rationed at some company sites and stores and price have doubled on what’s left. Also Nvidia did publicly decry the situation and others maker silently agree.
Really you need 8 rigs with 16 GPU’s each?

This game doesn’t use over 4gb of VRAM because it uses “texture streaming”, which puts more load on the cpu, ram and hdd
