Will RAM be an issue?

Wassup guys. I have an i5 7600k, 1080 OC edition, and 8gb RAM, anyone think I’ll see any issues due to only having 8 gigs? I know I know I need to upgrade to 16 but I’m in a tough spot.

8GB is minimum requirement so it will work
you can test if you’re satisfied, if not it will be good to upgrade ram
I just bought 16GB myself since I only had 8BG, too

It’s possible you will have to lower settings. At least medium will be super smooth.

Start off ultra work your way down with slight icrements. Put View distance at a reasonable setting it will eat.

You’ll be fine. Jesus have my years playing Arma made me too forgiving for only solid 30-40 fps on PC games.

If you like your SSD and dont want decrease his lifetime by often page file usage, upgrade to 16GB.
In gameplays KC:D take 12 GB of RAM on high+ where is 1080 targeted.

If I have to play at medium settings with a $550 GPU I’m literally going to cry lol
I’ll look into grabbing another 8gb stick. Maybe when I get paid

It’s not even released. Why would you cry when you can play latest game on medium?

I’ll take 16 :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It also depends on what the developer means by minimum requirement. I saw some games before where 8 GB minimum just meant that the game itself may take 8 GB, not counting in what OS and other applications running in the background might take, resulting in constant swapping. Best option will be to test it first and upgrade if you notice swapping.

6gb is minimum, 8 is recommended is it not

Come on,… there is never RAM enough…

Perhaps that was some old info? Current info on steam says 8 GB minimum, 16 GB recommended.

You will see. If you get into the game, you can try opening the task manager and tweak the various settings to see if something lowers the memory usage considerably.

It would be interesting to see some analysis of the settings when the game releases, so that people know which options they can turn down for maximum performance gain.

my old I7-980 at one time had 6GB of RAM utilising all the 6 slots (6 x 1GB sticks), it would happily play games with on maximum setting that required >8GB of ram as a minimum.

then only two years ago I upped it to 24GB utilising all the 6 slots, and on most of the games there was no discernible difference, the only game it made a difference with was star citizen which would suck up ~18GB of RAM after a couple of hours, while most games would stay <8GB.

so if your PC is using OK components and its well configured you could play games with higher setting more easily with your 8GB of RAM than other people can with badly configured >16GB RAM PC systems.
