Will we be able to download before release?

I see, its not the end of the world (but bad news). Could you please tell to us how big will be the install files? 20gb? 10gb? or more?
Thank you:)

I read where a couple of people said 30-35 gb’s.

there won’t be a preload for this simple reason: there is no Denovu and the copy protection is very light
as soon as the files hit the net it will be cracked, that’s why WHS is very conservative in regards to PC preloading

i have heard that some review copies will be shipped to select individuals a DAY before release
if you have a huge channel contact Deep Silver and they might set you up with a review copy
that’s your best bet for an eariler access, living in the ME where you can buy games ahead of release

Interesting. I bought the game on Xbox (through MS store) few days ago and it downloaded I think close to 20GB of something… what do you call that? I’d call that preload

there was another user that reported the same thing
20GB preload on Xbox

It isnt because of that. Preload never includes main binary

Doesn’t matter, if the preload files are there people will have them ready and all they’ll need is simply the missing component
and don’t think i’m defending their decision, infact it’s cowardly and goes against the principles of a PC-first game
but they seem to think that piracy affects sales therefore they are not taking any risks (if there were any)

If consoles gets to preload, PC should too.
simple as that.

More than likely people who preorder from steam will get a pre-load of the game. Backers will have to wait to get the steam key after game launch and than download the game. I figure I won’t be able to play the game at all on the 13th and probably won’t even have the key for steam.

Oh, but it does

We want to make preloades possible now, but we can´t guarantee and have to check what we can do about it.

How is pre loading going to help us, when we get our codes at release day?

Confused by all these answers…I purchased my digital pre-order a few days ago on the Microsoft store (for Xbox One), and installed the game the same night. It looks like it’ll be ready to go right on the dot.

That depends on when the keys will be send, where you live and when the game will be released. If you live in europe, get the key in the morning and the game is released like most steam games in the afternoon/evening then you have half the day to preload so that you can actually play at release day.

That is true. I don’t know of any countries in europe with data limits. I gues you can play the game an hour earlier. Skip the game download and go straight to the day one patch.

Interesting. I live in the US, so it might be different for me? It could also be different since I pre-ordered from the Microsoft Store online rather than the Kingdom Come official website.

My biggest concern with not having a Pre-Load for steam is that the servers are going to be overloaded.

KC:D is a top selling game on Steam right now – without some sort of Pre-Load, download rates will DRAG on release day, and I don’t know how big the file is for the final release but I’d prefer not spending all day downloading the game. I have fast internet but when Steam servers are overloaded — downloads can take awhile.

top selling game on steam?
I bought it 3 years back then lol

Nope, here ADSL 6000, max 730 kb/s
Games like Conan took me around 8-9 hours.
With a 100.000 conntection you need maybe one hour.
And my dsl with steam client is sometimes more slower as without it.
But i have no problem with that… i can finish the download days or weeks later!
