Yeah I get that. People are going wayyy overboard about this though.
I honestly don’t know why people bother to make games anymore… they just get abuse.

Additionally it’s a shame that the’ve missed microsoft’s procedures. it’s not only known since yesterday that ms in general takes 5 to 7 days for an approval… these aren’t brand new facts in this industry…
therefore i’m annoyed and disappointed…
i’m not gonna blame warhorse for this. they did a very good job with a lot of passion - what is quite refreshing apart from the big studios like ea, ubisoft… i blame the publisher for it as they’re responsible for a functioning release at a certain date… what they’ve badly missed…
and yes, i’ve also have a life beside kcd… but i was really looking forward to yesterday and so it’s a big let-down having to wait further until (maybe) friday to be able to play it with the full experience as it’s supposed by the developers…
Yes, I understand your disappointment. I am disappointed to but I am not going to let it spoil the game for me. i am still enjoying it.
Why is expecting a $60 game to have the day 1 patch on day 1 going wayyy overboard? I’ve seen very little outright hostility in the form of verbal attacks, insults, or cursing and i’ve been reading this board, reddit, and twitter constantly. The problem is two fold: We were told there was a huge day 1 patch. When it wasn’t available for download at midnight we were given a comical series of obfuscations, blaming, answers that were retracted and later reasserted, and finally being told that the patch was there all along despite both saying otherwise all day long and the file size and name being the exact same as it was when i downloaded the game over 2 weeks ago.
I’ve played the game a little bit but don’t want to dive in because we’ve also been told that our saves won’t carry over once the patch drops. Then we were told the saves would be fine several hours later only to ultimately not get an answer to the question from someone with WH.
Can you not see how confusing and clumsy this entire process has been? Clear communication is all i, and most everyone else i’ve interacted with have wanted. If there was an official twitter post or press release stating that there was an issue with the xbox day 1 patch and we can’t promise that it will come today or that your saves will transfer over once it arrives then i would’ve quietly waited with anticipation for that future date. But instead it’s been a bunch of vague statements that don’t address any of our specific needs.
I know i’m going to like the game and i support WH and hope this is the beginning of a long career of amazing RPG, but i’m not going to be silent about a concern regarding a product. It’s not fair to the consumer or WH. They need to know what their customers like and dislike.
Are you sure you have been reading? and you haven’t seen much verbal attacks??? or insults??? yeah right…
I do get your point $60 game should be right when it is released. But, I have honestly had very very few issues though, and the game is completely playable. I find a lot of people are getting mad just becasue they can’t play the game very well, becasue they do not understand it.
Warhorse could have been a bit more forthcoming with information, like the confusion over the build numbering on different systems.
Perhaps our threshold for what constitutes an insult are different. Or maybe i haven’t seen the posts you have. I obviously can’t read everything. Most of my reading has been on reddit and while tempers have flared i’m not seeing cursing or name calling. I’ve seen plenty of people calling the situation bullshit, but i don’t consider that a personal insult. Maybe it is to others. Regardless, i haven’t been rude, or cursed, or called anyone names.
I don’t care about bugs. I know that will be sorted out over time. My launch day expectation consisted of a working game and the promised patch to be available. That’s not unreasonable at all in my view. Since launch didn’t play out that way All i wanted is to know was when xbox is getting the day 1 patch and if my saves are at risk if i dive in now and devote hours to the game. We’ve not only not gotten that info, but we’ve gotten a string of confusing and contradictory statements on the matter that only serve to further muddy the waters. They need to be much more than a “bit” forthcoming. They should just plainly say what’s going on. It shouldn’t be that hard unless they’re unsure themselves or there’s something that they don’t want us to know.
The communication breakdown is off putting but i’m quick to forget so long as things get resolved quickly. I have my own communication problems sometimes. If they’d give us a clear explanation today, good or bad, i would thank them and wait patiently until the patch arrives.
The game does work though…
Yes the game works, will it after we get the day 1 patch though? We don’t know. I’m 12 hours into the game on xbox, if the patch comes out and corrupts my save game files like some people said is possible I and many other xbox users will be very upset. that’s the issue. We don’t have the patch which has been said basically replaces the whole game. We don’t know for sure when it’s coming, we don’t know what it’s going to do and that’s pretty frustrating and rightfully so.
I just came to Rataj and no issues so fsr the game is great. Muddy walls load after a few seconds sooooo
i never said it didn’t work. I’ve played it a little. I also said iexpected the advertised day 1 patch. This patch got a lot of publicity for being about the same size as the game. That’s not some small thing. When there are numerous industry articles days ahead of launch stating that KCD will be coming with a 20+ gig day 1 patch that will fix and improve a whole host of issues it’s perfectly reasonable to expect that on day 1.
Are you not aware of the alleged save problem? Shortly after launch on Reddit and other places I presume, a mod who has been relaying dev messages tells us that your saves will corrupt without the day 1 patch that Xbox doesn’t have. This was then later retracted to say that the saves are fine only to a few hours later not answer any questions regarding saves. As you can see it’s a mess that stems from poor communication.
I, and many other aren’t interested in playing a technically working game that’s both missing a massive patch and rumored to corrupt your saves. I don’t find that unreasonable.
As I’ve stated, I know I’m going to love the game. All of this frustration stems from really wanting to dive into this awesome world but not having the complete package that was paid for. And again, I wouldn’t even be here right now if I’d been told clearly yesterday that it was going to be 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, whatever, until the patch is out for Xbox.
I hope this clears up the overriding issue I have which is the same as most that I’ve read.
Yeah I get your points, i really do. Let’s just leave it there.
Yeah thats the prob. I am now 20 hours in the game and hope that the patch will not kill my save games. Additionally i had game breaking bugs. Black screens.never ending loading. Frozen game. And important quest npc or enemies i ve to kill disappeared or where melted into a house wall so i wasnt able to interact anymore. So i say its game experience influencing process in a negative way right now without the day ONE patch
Fair enough. The only reason I engaged you was because you said out was way overblown. Hopefully you now see that it really isn’t overblown at all. This is a legitimate complaint but I don’t endorse personal attacks or threats towards the developers.
I haven’t played more than an hour for the reasons you state. But damn if I don’t want to play. That’s the whole reason this lack of communication is upsetting. We’re dying to no life this game but aren’t sure if it will be wasted.
From what I have seen, I still think people have over reacted, but that is my opinion and i have had no issues with the game and to be honest i dont care if i lose my save and have to start again.
But, I do not want to argue.
Man I wish I had the time to not care if I had to replay dozens of hours. I really do. Gaming is my favorite hobby and I have precious little time to devote to it unfortunately.
That doesn’t really make sense if it is your favourite hobby. Are you using up time doing hobbies that you don’t really enjoy as much as gaming?
Nah I just don’t have but a few hours every week for personnel interests. I own a retail business that requires my presence 60+ hours a week plus marriage and children. Really eats into the gaming time.
Anyone can confirm?
