Well maybe Horizen is a bad example seeing it’s a Sony exclusive, so let’s throw some other 3rd party developers in like CDPR and Ubisoft. Ac origins and Tw3 were optimized across all platforms, yes PC will have the most crispy graphics and great draw distances, but the consoles are not as bad as PC players make them out to be. They are capable (as case in point with the above 2 mentioned titles) capable at some degree able to get pretty dang near close (considering the hardware they running) to giving a decent play experience. I think what this dude/dudet was trying to get across is games like KCD can be optimized for the current gen consoles but clearly it has not been done in its current state.
Also I see the augment come up here time and again that this is a small budget studio that does not have the huge recourses behind them. Ok fair, but as a dev studio if you want to cross platform your game to take advantage of the sales from the console market (and let’s be open here most titles released across all platforms, console sales mostly dwarf the PC sales in comparison) you make sure you try to optimize all platforms fairy, not just optimize the PC version and leave the console players with sloppy seconds (which is what has happened here). Otherwise, if a studio is leaning more to the side of PC, why make a console port …to make money that’s why, because console is a far more lucrative market. Otherwise they should have just made this game PC only, and a year down the track when they had a better optimized game and better optimized console version, release it then.
