Complaining is literally the only thing we can do. And making it sound like the people experiencing these game breaking bugs don’t have a legitimate gripe just makes things worse.
Were you guys in circle jerk formation rubbing your nipples whilst praising WH? Some people are angry and feel ripped off so we come to these forums to vent. Move along.
Not a credible point of view when you insult others that have a (more) positive experience
Yes complaining is all we can do, done some myself however before I complain I look to see if what I’m complaining about has already been brought up. Cause the more time spent sifting through me complaining about the same stuff that has already be expressed 100 times the less time spent on fixing the problems.
Also I hardly praise them I have mentioned a few things to them wrong with the game. However yes while me and my small community of like minded gamers were civilly discussing the game and it’s problems we enjoyed a circle jerk.
You want a refund for something that has provided 90 hours of entertainment to you? Come on.
So start a business selling game insurance – you can get monthly premiums and pay out to dissatisfied customers when games break - like cars.
What if companies like EA starts insuring against their releases
Good Lord. No…you’re not joking. Well IMO, OP’s time would’ve been better spent playing a heavily modded game of Skyrim. Which would give him the freedom to keep playing if he was unable to complete the MQ (as proven by his post). If KCD is so great, then why wasn’t it released with enough side quest/sandbox content with the base game like Skyrim was?
All graphics comparisons aside, can you share what “things” you can do better in KCD v. Skyrim? More specifically, by means of sandbox activities that have nothing to do with needing to continue in the MQ?
If I compare some immersive/sandbox activities from both games (from a realism perspective) I’m finding KCD coming up on the short end TBH. The authentic scenery/visual graphics may be unprecedented in KCD. But there’s simply NOT enough sandbox/immersive base game content to keep me engaged playing KCD once the MQ is completed IMO.
Here’s a list why:
Edit: Missing from the KCD Hunting sandbox feature is the lack of Predator-Prey dynamic. Skyrim mods handle this very well. You’re no longer the only dangerous predator in the woods anymore. And can suddenly discover you’re no longer at the top of the food chain either, should your PC stumble across a Momma bear and her cubs while checking their snares for game. I can’t see why the devs didn’t even try to include a few wolf/fox spawns at random deer/boar spots in the woods. Hunting would be so much more realistic and less of a Whack a bunny fest it’s turned out to be.
Most of Skyrim features seem mod-enabled and weren’t there upon release of original version
We can’t compare a modded skyrim to Kcd atm there isn’t enough mods to make it a fair comparison. We would have to compare skyrim at launch to kcd and we know how that would go as skyrim wasn’t even playable till 3 months after release even today there are still game breaking bugs.
However, KCD is being marketed as an unprecedented, revolutionary medieval sim which lives and breathes immersive realism. If that’s the case, then the base vanilla game for KCD should’ve had a good percentage of what legacy Skyrim had with mods I described. Like as much as 25%?
I mean Henry not being able to smith/craft equipment & gear for personal/vendor use is one level of detail to be expected in future DLC. But the fact an exposure system didn’t ship with the base game is unforgivable. Especially given the hard core survivalist game mechanic that the game has been constantly marketed as.
“Consequences for your actions” is the rally cry of many Kickstarter fan boys in this forum. Well how much of a realistic consequence is it that Henry can ride extensively for some 6+hr in pouring rain—and yet still not manage to get sick? Not have a need to craft a medicinal potion to help him get a decent night’s sleep from his flu like symptoms? To soothe his aches and pains of being so long in saddle (especially if he had to fight en-route) to his next save game point?
If this is supposed to be THE medieval simulator , then why is it he can’t catch a cold/become sick with disease in the base game? How realistic is it that Henry instinctively known how to ride (despite having a riding skill of 0 at the start of the game)? And yet cannot swim beyond wading depth if his life depended on it (which it has). Despite having so many streams/rivers/small lakes to practice in?
KCD’s only ‘innovation’ is replacing magic and fantasy with some semblance of historical realism.
Crafting is underdeveloped relative to Skyrim. The other things are a matter of personal preference. To me, those deficiencies you cite are less relevant than the burgher/lord/noble v serf dynamic. That dynamic extends far beyond the occasional expressions of deference one hears in KCD.
I feel your pain, just lost my 90+ hour save 10 mins ago. The disappointment is real, I’ll come back to this game in a few months.
Welp velvet mind what I said I quit playing kid because I couldn’t rp as a Viking because bandit plate jack was gone I thought it was a glitch so I deleted my saves and started over because I noticed it was at the beginning and when the update came out I couldn’t find it at all so disappointed but turns out it was removed for not being real enough
But yet they keep Lazarus potion?
How we do that on PS4?
Is these things cut from the vanilla game?
Well Skyrim base game shipped with these immersive sand box features that KCD lacks to date:
• joinable factions/guilds
• wide variety Faction quests (100% independent of the MQ line)
• hunting superior in Skyrim to date
• craftingnon existent in KCD. Superior in Skyrim to date
• seasons aka the obviously missed ones like SNOW & HAIL. BOTH of these occur in Bohemia btw. Next to fog. Which I’ve yet to encounter in the game
• swimming & being able to sink/drown if you’re overloaded in your inventory
• fishing (i.e grabbing fish with bare hands. Not possible in KCD as fish are non interactive/don’t exist in water bodies unless caught from a fish trap. Or fishing is implied in the game when Henry gets to see quite a few NPCs fishing like this guy:
Sometimes you can see fish in the deeper waters. If the game isn’t telling you the water is too damned deep to wade in like in this shot (when it was actually shallow as Henry followed this NPC just fine to fishing pier):
• Be a lumberjack/fletcher/smith/adventurer etc. Being a career thief or assassin in KCD is extremely limited in base game. So only the hunter & alchemist roles are possible as of right now. KCD base game lack’s Skyrim’s ability to RP non MQ activities for resource gathering purposes. Or do these activities just the hell of sandbox immersion etc etc.
• cooking with a diverse variety of raw food items in inventory & better advanced recipes
• adopting children — Nope.
• spouse/getting married – 100% non existent even though this is heavily suggested by the courtship quest with Teresa. You’d think this would be a #1 priority for the devs in the base game given Henry’s high mortality rate……
• follower system. Non existent in KCD—unless you include his mount. Henry can’t recruit NPCs to follow him the way your PC could like with Lydia etc in Skyrim? Not even an annoying dogmeat NPC that would likely rush into combat and get killed every time? Those mangy dogs are everywhere, yet Henry can’t seem to get one to follow him. No matter how much gold he wastes bribing them on sausages etc.
• Multiple home ownership (became a mini game by default of doing the Thane of the Hold challenge)
• Gain a royal title/officially rise in nobility from Skyrim Thane quest. Henry unofficially becomes a knight by birthright (spoiler so won’t discuss here). But in KCD, Henry really never has to put in WORK at his rise in society the way you had to in Skyrim. Regardless of whether you’re playing the vanilla game as the world saving Dovahkin or some nobody (thanks to mods like Live Another Life).
• Carriage Travel (as a alternative vanilla FT option). Seriously. Henry can afford the luxury of having and maintaining a mount (which happens early in game after getting to Talberg). But he can’t find a single oxen cart to hitch a ride on as a peasant at that point in the game? You know, that part of the plot where he escapes Talberg and had to walk back to Skalitz to bury his parents. That hay ride would’ve sure come in real handy then…
Farming and house building/construction building added later with Skyrim’s DLC. But these built upon well established game play features i.e. Hearthfire DLC expanded the marriage/live with spouse feature by adding ado
It’s never snowed in my game, Just 240 P rain
Precisely. Snow isn’t a base game feature the way it was in Skyrim. The save game feature from hell didn’t exist in base game Skyrim–let alone any TES game. So corrupted save games are not an issue in the TES universe because of multiple saves. lol
