Calling All PS4 Players PART 2

Hi everyone,

I’ll be honest right off the bat and admit I’d pretty much given up that KCD would ever be playable on console until I came across news of the latest patch (on PS4 at least) apparently fixing texture streaming, frame rate and even the rain?

Can anyone currently playing on PS4 with patch 1.7 confirm or deny these fixes?

Many thanks,
Ben

Yea it’s running flawlessly on my old brick.

I feel that it’s running great. Especially graphics.

short version - performance definitely improved

longer version - KCD 1.7 - PS4 v1.10 initial impressions

Thanks frelmedieval. I had already looked at your post before starting a new topic. It’s encouraging to read that performance has improved. Is it an improvement over what was, quite frankly, an awful vanilla release, or would you say it’s an improvement that to all intents and purposes fixes the game?

haven’t been sinking a lot of hours in KCD but 1.7 appears to be an entirely reasonable and stable performing game. there are still minor issues (as there are for my modded FO4 games, now nearly 3 yrs post release)

there are still design issues. some are philosophical differences with the studio (eg hamlet without bathing, laundering and mending services); some are just a prioritization issue by the studio

TBH, I would always expect minor issues in open world RPGs such as KCD, Fallout, Skyrim, etc, but providing they’re not game breaking, I can just about live with that, providing the base game is fairly solid and reliable.

There are many problems in Rattay with texture streaming (especially npcs), lod models changing too late, bad performance, less npc without heads, water and tree physics getting downgraded the more you play (a problem that I discovered recently)
The game overall runs fine excluding the biggest cities. None of those are game breaking problems so you can play it safetly, it’s a great game and a miracle we can enjoy it on PS4.

there are what i call post quest completion artifacts. haven’t played through all but believe per notes that many not addressed

So, a marked improvement overall, but cities or major settlements still asking too much of the PS4 Cid?

Exactly hasburyhughesy, we are very limited for our hardware, even on a decent PC many people have problems with big cities.

noticed some lag with NPC textures in Rattay but haven’t had headless peeps.

waters and trees? haven’t noticed but will pay more attention next time i play

Rattay (KCD) and Cambridge (FO4) don’t behave the same but their performance is now similar. hopeful, WH keeps a focus on kaizen (continuous improvement)

Yeah please that would be very helpful, I noticed stuttering in water streams and tree/shrubbery branches. When I start a new game the tree branches/water streams physics are very smooth and they gets progressively worse when I load more advanced save games.

Sounds like it’s getting there, but still hasn’t quite got there yet :frowning:

Yes it’s not perfect, but it’s a lovely game I’m enjoying like no other, many problems will be fixed, many others wont (due to hardware limits).

i’m more optimistic than that based on my own personal experience. that said, deserves mentioning that even we use (pretty much) the same console, we might not all observe the same performance issues/game behaviors.

Indeed. That’s been a very frustrating thing about this game on PS4, IMHO. My experience on a brand-new Vanilla PS4 bought just for KC:D has been mostly issue-free since day 1. Luckiest bastard in all Bohemia, I suppose…

Since the last update i’m experiencing more stutters while riding fast on my horse. (in open country, not the rattay race)
Never had troubles with that before. I play on PS4pro with ssd.

In FtA there was a npc with no voice, the saddle guy in Pribyslavitz if i remember correctly. I’ve spotted another one since the new update.
He is a dice player at the inn between Sassau and the Monestary, anyone noticed that?

And finally i really like the improvement of when you accidently bump in to npc’s where they start shouting and all that “you lout, look where ur going!”
Now the npc’s say nothing, they keep still, what a relief. It was so annoying.

Yeah theres still a lot in game thats frustrating but i’ve been playing since release on the very firsr day so i know the pain but i can admit the game is a lot better still loads of bugs, and graphical issues here and there lol yesterday my game bugged out Henry wouldnt sit in the horse saddle he would just stand and all the tree’s, roads, building, looked like a PS2 game (Wasnt to frustating as it was kinda funny but still) it also killed my playstation lol

I never saw a ps2 game look as good
