My game crashed when the npc said HERE IS YOUR REWARD, after giving him my hammer!
Same thing happened to me.

I have same problem 
I had the same problem when I bought the hammer from the shopkeeper. But there are more bugs in this quest.

The smith looses four(4) signed hammers (at the fence).
-
If you get the hammers and talk to the smith and don`t give him his (signed) hammer back (option two). Ask him if you can help him (option one).
Then came a long (25 phrases) dialog without the posibility to stop. It`s in a loop. You are trapped in this dialog.
(exit with the console)
The next bug is in combination with the skip time funktion
If you start skip time before smith lost his hammer and you skip a longer time (maybe next day). Then there is no hammer at the fence. But the smith is in trouble and searching for the hammer.
Maybe it´s a more general problem with skip time and timed quests.

And here I thought I’d not be able to find a reason to hate the blacksmith more than I already did.
He also teases you with his equipment and materials, the bastard.

if you dont skip time before the black smith lost his hammer the quest works.
Have you given him his own signed hammer back?
That works.
When bringing him a new hammer (from the shop). Maybe it works, maybe not.
This time I didn´t aggree to find a specific hammer
Then I chose (charm) Show my own hammer
It is mine.
Ask for a reward
I want 10 gold
Agree
Message: Speech leveled up!
And that´s all… no further action possible.
Last time I chose another option, and it worked.

I have no idea what is Error prompt 7…
But that´s the answer.

Looks like a problem, I wouldn’t know. I’ve never gotten so far. Most of my errors I attribute to trying to run it on a brick though.
Look at the way his eyes glaze over there in the end. He’s not even looking at you. What a man.
I tried to sell the hammer for 20 and he proposed 10, I accepted and the game then got stuck at the conversation mode
