implementing dismemberment for the benefit of player who go on killing sprees in town i think is a waste of time anyway.
I would love if Warhorse said âfuck with media, fuck with nudity in videogames taboo, fuck with gore tabooâ and just did everything. It would be pretty realistic and on top of that it would add another layer of immersion (Which is what they aiming for). But we must also consider the technicall limitations. Does the engine allowes that (or any other essentiall part of the game). Would the extra entities slowed down the game ? Would the process of decapitation be clunky, because engine doesnt necessary allowes smooth transition between (copying, replacing, adding, removing) entities in real time and again, would that slow down the game ?. Maybe Iâm wrong and those things are triviall and easy to implement, and they just dont want to.
It would be great for immersion tho.
You will notice, good sir, that the only âcorrectâ conditions would be naked men or executions. Your post suggested that you either deny that, or wish for an abundance of naked men or executions. Both are things I would rather not have, alas, that is my own personal opinion.
Even with a pollaxe or bardiche, dismemberments are extremely unlikely, and weâre talking padded cloth for armour here. I have enough blunt and sharp polearms to account for that. I can even do videos for proof if you so desire. Already done that before, when someone argued that hitting a shield hard enough will break the arm beneath. I said it wouldnât, he couldnât accept it. I recorded proof. He accepted the truth. Win-win!
I am sad to inform you that a message is not what you send, but what the recipient receives, i. e. what he perceives it as. I am also sad because my own message will most likely be perceived more negative, cocky or lecturing than I intended to when I sent it.
I at least expect to cut off peopleâs hands. You see that a lot in old training manuals and art.
Of course, lopping a head off at least partially is not impossible in the heat of battle. At least not when the opponent is just wearing his clothes:
Maybe at least to turn your foe into this guy:
I must point out that it seem that these people have no armor.
Yeah, so?
Iâm not proposing you make minced meat out of knights. I am sure you will fight your fair amount of bandits, angry peasants and unarmored noblemen.
Well i guess bandits wont be naked. But ye if you fight lightly clothed enemy i am not against chopping of his limb.
Still if percentage of armored enemies would highly overcome light enemies then is there point in putting this feature in game?
As I said somewhere above I dont really need it.
One word - exaggerated. All images from that time are exaggerated in some way.
If it doesnât happen often, it would be even cooler. Like youâve been playing for a couple of hours, so far no body part has ever detached itself from your enemies as youâve struck them. But now this time, you swing and it hits your opponents wrist, the hand comes off, blood pulsates out of his stump, he lets out a loud shriek and falls to his knees, grasping his wound. You would think âHoly shit! Thatâs brutal.â and think it was pretty cool since you havenât seen it happen before, and it happens only now and then so itâs always a fresh feeling. I think this, among other wounds, would really add to the grimness of battle. Doesnât need to be over-the-top like in Chivalry, where you cut off arms and legs and heads all the time to the point where itâs no biggie anymore (except cutting off heads, it makes such a wonderful sound.)
I also think that you should be able to break peoplesâ limbs, rather than chop them off. The wrist is a rather exposed and thin area so itâs easer to cut off than say your arm at the shoulder, or even the head. But you could strike someone with full force with a blunt weapon, and you could see that particular limb twist in a way it normally shouldnât. That would look totally grim, especially if they add really good screams so we can feel how much it hurts to them. Most games just have grunts and small shouts when people are injured. I want shrieks, whimpers, cries and cries for God/mother.
Sure, maybe, but those are from fighting manuals, and those particular examples involve cutting off the hand of your attacker as he comes in with a blow, rather than parrying his blow. And really, cutting off a hand with a sharp sword isnât as hard as everyone here want to make it out to be. Iâve seen duller things in real life produce nastier wounds than you want for this game.
There are truckloads of written accounts from all of history of people having limbs chopped off with ease too, are all these writers over-the-top? Can we believe anything that ever happened to be true if you can just claim âexaggerationâ on everything? Sure, I will start to apply that logic as much as I can on these forums now.
Ryse: Son of Rome does a good job at having cool kills/dismembement. You can cut of a hand, stab through the neck, and go for a dibilitating leg cut. However, if someone is armored there would be less openings to do such attacks. Regardless someone has to land a killing blow somehow and needs to be realistic.
Thatâs still a lot of blood! If you cut an artery, say the femoral artery that 5.5 litres of blood would be on the floor in a matter of minutes, which would pretty much be an ocean of bloodâŠ
Rather than being after a certain amount, I think a random option would be better, but thatâs a cool idea
I think that if warhorse is going to implement dismemberment it should be pretty rare. I suppose the chances could be higher if the only thing you do is run around and attack unarmed and unarmed villagers but nothing gets older, faster than a dismemberment in every fight. With scarcity, a dismemberment in a fight would be something really cool to see. You counter-attacked at the perfect moment and caught his arm in your full swing. Great! Other than that, an armored opponent that is actively defending himself and twisting away from blows should more often than not resist any type of dismemberment.
I think that dismemberment in Chivalry: Medieval Warfare looked pretty cool. Why not have at least decapitation in this game?
I agree having limbs flying all over the place would get old really fast, and takes away from the experience it should be to dismember somebody, if you can do it all the time it just becomes an everyday thing and theres nothing special about it.
Iâm bookmarking this quote and will repeatedly use it out of context of this discussion.
Go ahead if you want to
It would be cool to have running blood but unless an artery is severed and exposed, it shouldnât be flying blood.
Yeah gore should be present but at a normal rate, not for show but for realism
