Wonder how many issues have people reported to date? So far for me, +30 in 6 emails
Oh I’m sure the million or so playing the game don’t pull out a microscope to go over their screenshots to find “bugs” like you obviously are doing.
See the million or so and the mostly positive reviews on steam where its actually registered if you play are enjoying the game instead of throwing fits about every piece of grass that doesn’t look perfect.
Microscope? Sure, guilty as charged.
Report file save problem (lost sound once; fatal CE error another time) and workaround to WH and these forums. Point out the fatal CE error when open inventory. Levitate on top of horse after hitting mount and die when stop levitating (losing hours of play). Etc.
Love the game. Trying to improve the product, not undermine it. Throwing fits? Check yourself.
Did you put the cage in horse inventory? That’s what i did
Oh good you got most of the bugs the other few complainers seem to have got. Its very odd a lot of people have not had a real issue with game breaking bugs but you guys its almost like you just copy/paste each others post. Somehow you all get the same exact bugs. Pretty crazy if you ask me.
The PS4 save file issue is game breaking and Daniel Vavra’s recent tweet shows that it’s getting a critical fix. Tone it down. I’m neither a troll nor a blind fan boy.
I try to provide actionable info for every issue sent to WH.
Oh I’m aware the game has bugs and they are fixing it. Just pointed out that a lot don’t seem to experience these game breaking bugs that those who complain the most seem to get. It also seems that the complainers if you get one of the well known bugs you get them all.
I didn’t call you a troll just posting my observation.
The ‘you guys’ was insinuating as much. I’m not you guys; I’m frelmedieval
I’m honestly surprised at the amount of people in here who are defending this because “Warhorse meant well” or “you should have read up on the well known bugs and avoided them” or “You joined the forums to complain, I’m not surprised”. These “arguments” are absurd. I will refer to you from here on out as CoW or Champions of Warhorse. First of all, I joined the forums to post an angry comment aimed at the developers, because I want the developers to know how angry, disappointed, and ripped off I feel. It should be the main way to get a developers attention. I couldn’t care less what the CoW have to say.
As for the CoW telling me that I should have researched the game, I did. I watched reviews. That’s all the research you should have to do. The reviewers all said there are some bugs here and there, but the game is great. Well by bugs here and there, I didn’t think they meant corrupted save files, game not saving, getting stuck climbing stairs, getting stuck on a small incline on a path, quests breaking, losing hours of playtime because the game didn’t save when it said, etc. Or how about the fact that I have 2 gtx 980 TI’s running in SLI and can’t even get over 45 fps on High settings because SLI doesn’t work. Oh, btw, I did research that one. I found a post from the devs saying that SLI would be fully supported on launch, yet another screw up, but I’m sure the CoW will tell me to be patient and how it’s not the dev’s fault that they don’t support something they said they would. I wasn’t even too angry about that one, but it’s just another piece of crap on the dungheap.
Anyhow, I still want a refund. I bought this game on Steam and can’t refund it because I have more than two hours of playtime, even though the 15 hours of playtime I have only gave me about 7 hours of progress due to all of the garbage mentioned above. But at least Warhorse meant well.
Yeah man, we all just got together and decided we were going to crap all over the game and make up a bunch of fake bugs instead of playing. When do you get your Defender of the Crown badge?
Obviously you do seem to care about what the “CoW” say, since you came back to devote more words to a comment about them.
And I guess you’re SoL on the refund, so you might as well just wait for the improvements to hit and give it another try then. It probably won’t be perfect, but no game is.
Also, you’re more likely to get a response from someone connected to the game if you actually use the support path, opposed to posting a random angry thread.
When you buy a game, do you expect bug fixes and enhancements? If so, what service level expectation (implied) do you have?
I understand OP’s frustration, I really do. Because the longer I play, the more bugs I encounter. And guess what - right now, all I can do is post here on the forums as my main quest is broken because of the “Questions and Answers” main quest gamebreaking bug.
Loved this game since the beginning (which I think is clear by me being a backer) and want it to succeed, but the amount of serious bugs is absolutely appalling. Altogether, I have lost somewhere between 30 - 40 hours of gametime to various bugs and trying to fix various technical issues (serious freezing and stuttering in populated areas even on my midrange PC). The longer I play, the more I feel like a beta tester and not a player of a released game (and yes, I have sent support tickets and all that, yadda, yadda, but the point still stands).
It’s great that the game has a lot of content and many options to tackle each quest. But what good does it do when out of my last 6 bigger side quests, 5 were bugged in some way (some more serious than others)? I would rather have half the content, but much more polished. And no, I am not complaining about difficulty (and if so, in quite the opposite way as I had to download some mods to make the game harder as it becomes laughably easy mid to late game).
I have never played a game where I had to endure so much, try to fix so much by myself and got the game broken in so many ways on so many occasions. It really does feel like a Beta in many ways. I should have resisted the urge to play this from release (yeah, my hype was too strong and I couldn’t resist), because now I don’t want to stop playing as I am curious what will happen. But the overall experience is very frustrating.
Ash, i completely understand. currently, i have over 30 bugs and design issues out with WH. i haven’t had quite as many struggles with gamebreaking issues as you probably because i specifically stopped pursuing the main quest line.
you’re a baron which means you’re a backer and have more skin in the game than i. it appears your material investment is going to take a while beyond the release to bear more meaningful results. not sure, that’s a surprise at least to me. industry leading online SaaS vendors with very deep pockets are known to struggle with product launch. WH is a start up. i’d never expect a start up SaaS vendor to nail a release much less a start up software studio launching an innovative open world RPG. doesnt justify the sometimes abyssmal lack of QA/QC in KCD. just a reality check. i hope WH listens and responds.
for the time being, i’ll give WH the benefit of the doubt and provide WH with as much actionable info as possible. if changes are made, i’ll buy more WH products. without question. if not, …
I played for almost 2 weeks with no bugs. But yesterday i encountered a game breaking bug and had to reload a save that wasnt in the problem area. I have since avoided that quest (side quest house of god). For 90% of my experience has been bug free and the game itself is amazing. Im waiting on some solid patches to come through before proceeding with main quest.
The problem with most complants is, they start out with "this game belongs in the trash its everything thats wrong with the gaming industry " yata yata yata.
This game needs fixed, but the real problem with the gaming industry is a lack of creativity and lack of courage to step outside of the box.
Most players of kcd bought it for something different than the cookie cutter crap thats being produced by the big companies. Its EXTREMELY hard to create something awesome and double that for the gaming industry. So the ones that defend this game see a much bigger picture and dont want complainers shutting down a company that isnt afraid of making something unique
its not about bussingess but about keeping it. This is their first title and the pooch came out screwed. Next title will not fare so well if they do not address nonsense like this.
I cannot fathom what went through the heads of the designers when they made this … im sorry there is no better word for it… MORONIC … save system. It does not add to any ‘difficulty’ of the game nor even ‘ambiance’… all it does is insert tons of frustration on a game that has lots of flaws in the core design to begin with.
Hint: fail in a quest that REQUIRES lockpicking (read that again, REQUIRES) because your lockpick broke (given the lockpick minigame is also horribly implemented). Congrats you must now replay the last 20 minutes because some dev did not take into account that a digital keyboard cannot fine control what is essentially an analog puzzle (rotation rate of lock). Maybe I need a JOYSTICK to pick locks?
This game as it is, is not worth more than 30 bucks and even then its iffy.
yes, nice graphics, nice storyline and nice concept… but given there have been dozens and dozens of medieval type titles that came before them its rather sad to see they did not care to learn of the successes and failures of those games… and rabidly implemented most of the failures into this one.
@Istoppucks Oh come on, you must be kidding me! I love this game but it’s really impossible to NOT notice all the bugs. It starts with tailors selling “green shirts” that are clearly red, goes forth with subtitles that regularly read a completely different text than the spoken one and ends with random crashes forcing you to replay the last two hours (Realtime!). Not even to mention the more cosmetic things like pop-ups, clipping errors, horses stuck midair.
You do not need to defend the game AT ALL cause I already LOVE it but please stick to the facts.
Pretty much what you said. I’ve invested more than many into this game, as my “title” says, but I’ve also been fortunate enough to have a pretty problem-free experience so far. I’ve been taking my time, have just reached Uzhitz, and I’m enjoying the exploration and the building up of skills. I’m working on getting better with the sword and bow, I’ve just begun to learn how to read, and soon I’m going to start on the alchemy side of things.
I know there are bugs and glitches. I also know people are working hard on fixing them. What’s done is done as far as the state of the game at release goes. Some people have had better experiences than others, but there’s still no call to waltz on in here acting like Warhorse doesn’t care and is only in this to rip people off.
That completely ignores all the time and effort they’ve spent on getting this game released to begin with, dating back to even the pre-Kickstarter times. I’m willing to give them the chance to make things right without going after them with pitchforks and torches, especially because I love the setting and what you can do in it so much.
People need to get over the save thing already. They’re bringing “save on quit” to it, and if it really bothers you that much that you can’t save whenever you want, maybe you should go find another game to play. As for the lockpicking, it’s easier with a keyboard and mouse than it is with a controller. I prefer playing with a controller and the thumbsticks make it more difficult for me to manipulate than it is by slightly moving the mouse to keep the sweet spot lined up while I turn with the arrow key. I tried picking a hard lock while at rank 4 or whatever I am so far and the pick broke every single time even if I kept it lined up properly, and rather than coming here to complain about it I decided it’s just going to have to wait until I’m at a higher skill. It’s no different than trying to pick a lock in the Fallout games while being too low to succeed.
And are we really complaining about subtitles not exactly matching what’s being spoken? What game HASN’T had that at some point? I’ve yet to come across anything that was “completely different” there. Every once in a while someone will repeat the same line twice while responding to me and that’s amusing, but that’s also not a big deal to me.
This game as it is, is not worth more than 30 bucks and even then its iffy.
That’s your own opinion kid.
Even with the bugs, people like me enjoy it and actually think it’s worth 60$. An easy fix for the save system would be to use the mod, tough luck for the console players. Savior Schnapps are INCREDIBLY easy to make by yourself with an alchemy table, and the lockpicking mechanic isn’t just a level-up skill like skyrims’ when you could just level-up and then make lockpicking less difficult. You have to fucking practice on the very easy lockpicks.
If you don’t have the patience to practice, and deal with a couple bugs, then refund and leave.
Actually, the “material” investment is negligible as my pledge itself was like over half the current price of the game (+ getting additional goodies), so that’s fine. What’s worse is the emotional investment. Supporting the game over so many years, watching the development videos. And then it comes out and it is incredibly frustrating, to see so much brilliance in the game, such great content, but the technical state it’s in is absolutely woeful.
It sucks, because I just wanna play and experience the game, but literally before every sidequest, I have to go online to check whether there is anything wrong / any quest breaking bugs and then proceed accordingly (and unfortunately, usually there is something wrong). I personally love to do all the sidequests I can as soon as I can, but as I said, the last 5 out of 6 were broken in some way (some in minor, annoying ways, some made me load to an earlier save), making me lose additional hours (as if the gamebreaking bug in the main questline wasn’t bad enough).
I may just waltz through the rest of the main story too see the ending and maybe pick the game back up in a year or two. Or maybe I am “broken” and play the game in ways that noone envisioned before, who knows…
@Fifavenue I agree with the points about the gaming industry, which is why I was excited for KCD so much. I can’t even be bothered to play the current “AAA” copy-paste-reskin lootbox-ridden crap they put out nowadays. But seriously, they should’ve cut out some content to be able to polish the game more or they should have hired more testers and dedicate 6 more months to playtesting and fixing bugs… but I guess that wasn’t an option for various reasons. I would probably still support “KCD 2” just to show that is the kind of game I am interested in, but man, the current state of the game is just brutal.
