I really don't get the combat

Of course, without modern sights etc you still need to learn how to aim consistently, and you need to develop a feel for how much drop the bolt has at what distance. But unlike a bow, many things are locked in, rather than variable and highly user and skill specific. And you dont have to constantly fight and struggle against the whole draw weight.

Sure and do it with clumsy armor on. Also from what I remember talking to a historian, modern replicas use different but similar-ish material but that also made the crossbows tad more clumsier than modern versions. That all being said though, man would I want that in the game. I love crossbows, I get this Van Helsing vibe from them for some reason.

Not all historians are omniscient demi gods, especially on weapons. Many weapon replicas, be they swords, guns or crossbows, actually suck at being faithful replicas of original items.

I have a very very small collection, but decided years ago, that I’d rather have a tiny collection of very few, but decent pieces, rather than a giant assembly of junk.

Also, somehow there often is a notion of modern replics being better than originals, but more often than not, that is modern hybris.

I got myself a crossbow custom made relatively recently. And boy is that thing easier to operate than a bow… ANY bow…

As per clumry armour…well, you need to perfectly operate your bones and muscles for a warbow. a crossbow…not so much. There is mostly ONE way biomechanics dictate for shooting a high poundage bow. But the crossbow is almost spanned in a diffrent method by every user. I span it diffrently than a very close friend does it, his girlfriend on account of being much smaller spans it diffrently still.

Neither of us could even hope to draw any real warbow, not even comparatively light ones, but everyone manages to span, load, aim and shoot the crossbow.

Absolutely glorious fun to shoot these things.

Very good tips for beginners and those having a hars time with the mechanics. Also by increasing hunting skill youll get access to “forrester” perk, best stealth perk in the game imo

They could have longer load times for crossbow

Also, people, follow the enemy’s hands. The easiest way to block and dodge everything. Also hold the distance of the length of your sword as IRL. I’m using these tips and having no issues with reacting in time. If only there was opportunity to delete this shield.:wine_glass:

I think, the most annoying part is, that you are told and shown chained strikes etc., manage to pull them off in training, but in the ‘real world’ cannot, for the love of god, pull off ANY of that. You are following the instructions you’ve been given, but every shitsmeared asshat in a wet blanket has a 99% chance of totally ignoring your attempts at doing anything.

Once you’ve spent a loooong time training with Captain Bernard, leveling your stats, suddenly some of the things you’ve learned actually work in the real world.

And as soon as you are good enough, when three retarded slugs in a forrest try to attack you, and you effortlessly stab the first wanker, the others two immediately shit their pants and run or kowtow…

That’s why i stopped using perks and did things, that i wrote above. I can now use combos finally and not kill anyone from one shot. :sunglasses:

I wrote that somewhere else to but I gladly repeat my rant hoping it will help you. I felt the same as you, unable to kill anything.

I still have no idea about that reposte master combo jumbo wumbo stuff, all I learned was how to chain strikes. I didnt cheese it by boosting my stats with the training guy either who by the way is at some points of the main quest not where you seem to be looking for him.

What I did was picking flowers, I could have robbed traders or went on treasure hunts as well, but I just picked flowers to get money. Said money I used to buy the bailiffs mace which cost me just above 1k iirc. My character had 8 str and 4 agi at that point, so using the strength based weapon with higher overall stats was a great accidental thing I did. From then on enemies were falling much faster once i got the occasional lucky hit in. Bandits were no problem and with the easy carry system I could just move all my loot to the armour smith in Rattay who gladly sold me a full set of plat.

Welcome to god mode, hack and slay through the rest and get to the shittiest ending since mass effect 3. Done.

Youre such a good citizen. I choked out so many innocent people to get their crappy armor in the beginning.

As far as the ending i haven’t made it there yet. I need to just go for it but i hate ending a game thats so much fun. Ill have to be my own judge of if the ending sucks as bad as the original endings for mass effect 3.

The added endings (after much public outcry) weren’t bad though.

Do the endings in KC:D end the game, or can you still strut about the countryside and mop up remaining side quests?

Id like to knoe as well

The game will actually role the credits when you are almost done and tell you to do X when you are ready to actually finish the game. So at this point do whatever you want and never do X.

When you do X however something that takes 10m will happen and you get your achievements, you will get back to the main screen and hitting continue will put you a few actions before finishing X.

So it is more like the Ocarina of time ending where you cant actually, like really end the game and continue like in skyrim.

Am I good at not spoiling?

Yeah because i completely understand what you’re getting at, but i have no idea what X is… So good job

Unless “x” is a sexy chick walking around with a big “x” on her, in which case, you blew it

X-meralda, the gypsy woman? XD

Bought an axe … now it’s working

After 110 hours of this game and 2 different playthroughs, I will say one thing: your in-game skills are - by far - more important than your player skills. I’ll play a fresh game and despite everything I’ve learned about the combat system, the first cuman while running from Skaliz will kick my ass (outside of unlock exploiting).

It’s less a matter of “git gud” as it is “grind stats/skills with better gear as a distant third.”

If your really struggling with the combat, just avoid combat and go through the main game until Henry is taken into the service of Kubyla. That gives you unlimited access to Bernard. Spend 30-40 minutes training vs him w/a practice weapon until your skill is at about 10. After that point, you’ll own anything.

not quite. at sword skill 14 and I just got beat into a pulp by two random bandits on the way home from a session of…erm…plucking mushrooms…furry, 4-leggeed mushrooms…with tusks… Not sure if the slight overloaded issue was really that deciscive, though…

How is that possible lol. Just poke them r bumper
