Patch PC 1.3.4 becomes=>1.4 (out now/PC)(discuss release)

So 1.3.4 is out and for me,… is installed and have done a lil bit of testing (very preliminary),

First game load (wrong save file)… last area I playing in… framerate didn’t list as anything higher (inbuild KCD framerate tool) but it did feel snappier in responce to wireless (xbox) controller.
Loaded a reference area (run from millers through rattay and back again, several times) First play had me quite annoyed- once every 1.5 seconds ‘slow down’/judder. (have seen twice before- usually my video card fans not starting and it overtemping/underclocking.) Closed game and restarted. no judder (phew!)
walked quite a few times around very familiar areas… seemed like middle distance to 3/4 distance LOD pop/model transistion(a few objects) is a new thing. Thinking it was an easy framerate improver (reduce draw distances) and my framerate is a wee bit higher(was never an issue) but overall is much smoother (less big fps swings). Really not liking that middle distance POP.
So- went to menu and manually changed all the sliders down a few notches and then returned them to the position on the right… (full)… had to hit confirm (a good sign), slight load time… and then what appeared to over the next minute or so… less evident pop…
an example of this new ‘reduced draw distance’ (ultra plus settings/wont affect console users) would be walking out the west gate of rattay towards the bath houses. I never previously had the common just south of the bath house entrance ‘build the grass’ in front of me…

So Ikept playing…

Things get a little tricky here as I swear I was encountering sideways (extreme) rain… after a few more runs the noticable transistions on some objects in world space (some trees in the far distance moving a fraction(not windly)) stopped happening.

Now this is all getting eerily familiar to troubleshooting Forza Horizon on PC (another open world game with no in game loads)… after changing texture size settings on that game users would have to drive around for about forty minutes for the texture set to be copied to virtual mem (yes virtual mem- for some reason the game required huge amounts of virtual mem to run correctly on many systems… and given over the years most SSD users would disable this feature… it caught many many gamers out…
Anyway I digress… loading this game and running it for a wee while… running a wee while seemed to give the backend systems some time to sort themselves out.

Just a helpful ‘heads up’ for those experiencing issues with this new patch.

There did seem to be some wack lightbox running over the whole land on sunset… that ‘clicked off’ totally and left a jarring transition to black/night.

Anyhow… give the game some time to sort out its assets etc after first running this patch. (my .02c)

check the Anell settings that Hexxemm mentioned…

Fortunatley its early morning weekend hours here and my daughter has taken on the role of playtesting the patch… (yay) (turn the Heads up display back on- she says)

cannot state my framerate has lowered. (might be a smidge higher, but am running a framerate lock to keep it around sixty or less), appears that quite a few things have happened with this patch (did Henry always tilt his head like this when running?)

Anyhow- seems to be doing an alright job at rendering the game world. will go all eagle eyed looking for difference…

any idea when 1.3.4 will be available for consoles?

sizes are different version of the patch based on country /regeon, yes?
95Mb was put forward by another user… when I was offered the patch it was the standard 37.5MB.

You asked about my vid card-? Fury (not the X, not the Nitro or whatever… I get around ten percent less performance that a fury x.

paid couple of hundred yonks ago. (needed it to utilise my freesync monitor fully, so dumped the nvidia 780GTX in favour. is around 20% stronger than the GTX780 in most things…
Sometimes shows its true worth in benchmarks at middle/high resolutions holding well against a 1070… but that is title and settings specific.

Bargain card perfect for non 4k gaming. paired with appropriate hardware (intel 5920k on x99 platform) KCD runs 40-60fps with everytihng Ultra (and sliders maxxed), except shadows which Imight drop to high. Idon’t mind 40 fps lows as that is in my freesync range.
same card/monitor combination (a 21:9 IPS panel) kept Forza 3 playable. was a Godsend during a six month period that Forza was being heavily gimped and ran poorly for many. (Inever had to suffer a whole slew of framerate issues with Forzas open world experience)

Presently watching my daughter run through some crazy areas (jaw dropping beauty) holding 50 fps (my average).
When Iam not in the lougeroom, (reference screen-plasma tv with 1080 lines of motion resolution) Iam on the 21:9. the resolution bump on the 21:9 (around 30%) means Ihave to drop shadows another notch to keep north of 40 fps lows…

mmm Mushroom picking goodness…
gotta go make breakfast for the family

They didn’t say they fixed anything other than the random encounters. (notice the small file-size?)
What did you really expect?
BTW, Nvidia Ansel & Shadowplay Highlights are offered by Nvidia GeForce Experience.

This patch has definately changed more than the three things most recently listed on official pages as the 1.3.4 contains.

more like it contains the full list of promised inclusions they were talking about a week ago…

38 megabytes is huge. I have used whole operating systems that ‘weigh’ less.
This isn’t graphical file or sound file changes (generally large patches).

All the games on sega megadrive/genesis and super nintendo/famicon were 2 megabytes or less.
(Street fighter 2 was a special cartridge that held 3 megabytes)

38MB really? hahaha What OS whas that?
Perhaps you mean GB? Windows 10 alone is 20GB for a 64Bit OS.

Probably a large part of it being the worlds worst OS.

Unless we measure the value of an OS by being direct x capable and size matters…

Back in DOS (disk operating system) days (a few megabyte OS), you could run a GUI (graphjcal user interface) over the top of it… so Windows (not yet an OS and around 20megabytes in size) wouldnt technically count.

Many versions of decent operaring systems did come to market ( os2 warp may have been sixty megabytes ?), generally many of them having some notion of efficiency/respect for end users hardware. (Everything not M$)
Sure back in those days we didnt use tiny linux OS installs… generally larger linux distros included a lot of ancillory software.

All the same 37MB is huge when we consider what 1 byte of data can do when being patched into existing code.

I’m not a dinosaur so I wouldn’t know. Apple IIE is as far as I go back.

IIe would have had a paltry sized OS.

Yeah my mum worked in an Apple (computer) store in the early eighties. We bought the first ever Mac. (She was pussed a week later when they released a model withba double sided (3.5" floppy) drive.
(We still have that Mac)
Actually typed up some of my psych unit assesments when doing tertiary education on it decades later. Reliable little work horse…

Most roms in Amigas and Atari STs had to play with a megabyte or two of total space.

Heck I recall I psion (5MX) that had 16mb of rom and was a complete a pc as anyone could want/need.

Until java and, more so, flash killed symbian and other competing OSs (to microsoft) with unecessary requirements… (which in turn- to improve Edge/win 10, Microsoft has finally stopped keeping their little cane toad alive).

Good days.
Most IT peoples through the nineties assumed the future would continue the growth and usability of products… instead we get ever increasing power and new platforms and everything takes longer to do basic stuff.
Mostly an issue due to M$ pushing that every user becomes an admin and then has to hide key controls further and further away so we dont ‘hurt’ anything.

Caldera systems made a linux distro back in the nineties that whilst installing-asked a user for all key info that the PC would need, and then left the user to play tetris until it finished installing/setting up.
And true to most intelligent platforms; had the first account setup as admin and then forced us to login as a User.
Standard industy stuff.
Microsoft arent interested in anything other than selling us subscription models.

The script would only despawn items below ground in a topologically complex map. Change mgmt seems hard enough… torch, random encounters, :face_with_thermometer:

Moore’s Law will soon be dead too. Then what? quantum computing…

So the game is telling me I have 1.3.4 but random encounters don’t appear to be fixed for me at all. Anybody else finding this?

We had them restored. (Encounters back- although I am not a fast traveller)

Just had GF and daughter exchanging banter comparing the witcher 3 and skyrim (as medieval walking simulators), the consensus being we vastly prefer KCD, the girls going on to say they like not being attacked by wolves every thirty seconds…

And then twenty seconds later had a ‘random encounter’ on the road.
We all laughed…

to confirm that was continuing on from a save game created starting afresh after 1.3.3 released.
And those playlines/savefiles NEVER received any random encounters.

Trees across the road? Awesome!- never felt like such a great thing before… (spent decades living between city and country… generally a tree over the road has always bummed me out…)

Guys i still dont have wayfarer events. I just have attack on road. I travel between al citys i just attacked on road.

^ this… and I still don’t even get attacked that often. Walked the length of the map several times (over a days worth of travel) and only got attacked once. IMO, this is a game breaking bug. I know there is a mod for it, but it leaves a bad taste when the community has to mod a game to get it to play is intended.

A gameplay breaking screen shaking bug that Vavra doesn’t think was necessary to be addressed BEFORE releasing game as AAA title. Not going to ask why we have to wait until patch update 1.4 BEFORE this brain seizure inducing issue can be addressed

Keep checking the steam page for the moment this goes live (1.4)

Swear I am updating that page ten times a day.
Any info much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Interesting; I’ve been occasionally refreshing that link, and while 1.4 hasn’t appeared yet, FIVE new DLCs (still hidden) dropped onto the list this morning. :astonished:
