Exactly right. That’s why I’m hoping for something as an amends in the form of future DLC to make up for it. Right now I’ve paid full price for a game I can’t play. Plus, being digital, i don’t even have an expensive paperweight to show for it.
This is still going on, 8 hours in, half of that has been a glitch fest. I thought giving it some time before realese would put me in the clear. Where are the gametesters?
Just chiming in my experience as well. Few observations:
- The bandit that mercy kills the other bandit immediately stands up and says “Jesus Christ”, as if he discovered the body he just killed. He then begins a very short patrol up and down that small stretch of path in the woods. This seems like his behavior is broken. No matter which way I went about it, I had to fight him, usually.
- After completing all the dialogue and completing “The Hunt Is On,” wouldn’t you know it that Ginger comes waltzin’ in, doing chores like everything is okie dokie?
So real question is, should I do side quests or wait? I’d prefer not to do things over again…
i finished the game and am doing a second playthrough, will this still apply to me or does this just break the game for people who are already on/past that questline?
Ive fixed this bug, it requires you to re-download the old version of the game from steam. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=889624474
app ID 379430
Depot ID 379432
MANIFESTID 7728356487649391633
Then replace 3 files, (Developer.pak,GameData.pak,Scripts.pak) in the data folder.
@drallcome that’s not really a fix, is it ? it might work, but they really should FIX it, not expect us to download the outdated version
Ok… a Patch until they read their Inbox and issue out a “official” patch. Im just giving an option for people who want to continue the main quest before then.
Okay serious question here i don’t want to sound insulting but how the ever living fuck do you release a patch that specifically targets a quest… and that patch breaks that quest even for people who have done said quest before (such as myself). This just speaks of complete incompetence on the devs part cause did they even bother to test this? Or just in their mad dash to release the patch did they just overlook that? I like the game i really do… but at this point i’m glad i got 25% off thanks to Green Man Gaming cause this game isn’t done… and it will take A LOT of work for me to ever trust this dev team again.
i know m8, my rant is with them not u, your option is actually pretty good
Yea, the bug hit me during my lunch break. Was thinking of ways to fix it since there has been no feedback from the developers. All they have to say was, “Thanks for all the feedback, were going issue another hot fix asap.” I know, small studio and all but hire some PR.
drallcome already gave the manifest id, just skip to the console command portion. Unfortunately, you have to download all 379432mb.
There seems to be removed debug functionality to instantly restart quests. All they needed to do was run their own debug script and spend the 10 minutes to play through the preceding quest. Instead, I’m guessing they directly started Ginger In A Pickle via debug script, thus bypassing the bug. Of course, none of these scripts seem to work in the release version so we can’t do the same.
Lets hope they will fix this by tomorrow
It probably depends how long steams approval process is.
Impacted by this as well. Please fix!
alright, so for me, reverting to the previous patch worked. when i loaded in my game after doing this, the ginger in a pickle quest was in my journal and the markers were on the map as it should be. so thank you for that.
everything went fine until I got to where Ginger is supposed to be chilling in the hut in the woods. hes just not there. I tried saving there, and then going in and reverting to the new patch, but nothing changed. Great. back to square one?
oh nice ,i try this soon !
You might want to revert earlier, that would be my best guess right now.
So: Revert to previous patch, receive “Ginger in a pickle”, then apply the newest patch and see if it works.
i just tried the next previous load and hes still not there. Gonna give it a break and sleep on it, try going further back
tomorrow
I can imagine having automated tests for everything when developing a game is impossible, but common testing your quests triggers logic should be feasible.
And a bit of QA with a beta channel on steam would be useful.
